abdulwastecx:
You have to know the difference between plans and elevation when it come to roof design.

Let me explain it using a three dimensional coordinate system of : x, Y and z
X and Y been the plan and z been the height
The rafter run across the plan in x Y direction while the rafter is from plan x-y and z direction.

The tie beam ( bottom) cord for timber design are mostly spaced at 4ft or 1.2m center to center. At the conner of the house to the tie beam makes a 45 degree to the adjacent edges on the plan.

The king post is determined after all the rafter have been nailed or screwed into position. The height of King post depend on the slope of the roof
thanks a lot. It's beginning to make sense..... but is this statement of urs correct "
The rafter run across the plan in x Y direction while the rafter is from plan x-y and z direction.

samocholi u are not a man of action. I am angry at you. Don't go to any Pastor or any relative again! When you die everybody will blame u for foolishness! Divorce her as fast as you can give several reasons why e.g job, uncaring,, abusive, infidel, etc so many. Pls just don't die yet…… be alive to protect ur child. How did u cope all these years? Telling Pastor, aunt, uncle? ha! she has seen u as a weakling. Don't fight her just divorce without a fight or a quarrel……… when is happy, just give her the papers. It will be her surprise.... call who u can to pull her outta ur house or u leave any which way u prefer. Don't breathe a word to her, samcholi……… do all I tell u in silence. Sorry to say, Church girl & now church is hindering u from living …… does the Pastor know abt her? Watx her business if a woman sleeps with d Pastor? or does she and ……? (complete the puzzle) ***nothing is impossible & at this point everything is questionable…… don't be a puppet... man.

step; Determination of roof height = highest king post
the highest king post is determine using simple ''hypotenuse theorem"
assume height =h
length of the longest side = L

solution, the opposite = h, adjacent = L/2
I wanted to use a vertical slope of 35degree ( because i wanted a simple and medium high roof)
h = L/2 x tan 35 = 19ft ( note , L/2 = 27'2'')
Seriously I need clarifications. You said the tie-beams were at 45° and now you made the king post has a vertical slope of 30° using hypotenuse theorem. Now, how? In hypotenuse theorem, ur h=opp=king post but wat made up ur L part of the eqn? rafter? how does the 45° of tiebeam comes to play? if the tiebeam is 45° how come u can get 35° again? Pls assist me……

I am studying civil engineering with little experience in field work and more of design study..... pls I really need ur careful explanations. Thanks

"Omode o'mogun,, o'npe l'efo"!
( Translated literally for our friends who may not understand Yoruba - A child being ignorant of 'ritual potion', calls it vegetable soup! ....No disrespect, just how it is said)

With due respect to your position and belief, let me say that the fact that one has not "personally" experienced something, does not put its existence into doubt". It all boils down to experience!!

I have seen "spiritual power" in display (not the charlatan type chorused by Church leaders) on so many occasions that even with my level of western education, l have no iota of doubt about its existence and efficacy, if one has the knowledge.

I am not out to convince you because if l were you, l would not be convinced either.... except l experience it first hand.

We live in "times" now where such knowledge is gradually disappearing, especially with mentality like yours (though one cannot blame you for your position, it is very "logical and reasonable"! Why should one believe what you have not seen or experienced? undecided ).

Growing up, l used to keep a Diary of what My Grand Mother did with such knowledge until one day when l was in school, l was told (later) a nearby river bust it banks after very heavy rain and flooded the whole neighbourhood. Needless to say, l lost the diary as the pages completely clinged to each other afterwards and l could not restore them.
That Diary contain "simple treatments" for most ailments that l have seen performed ...and produced a cure, that beggars belief!
For example, do you know that with a few words (yes, ordinary spoken words of the mouth) and the head placed against a wall, you can send away any migraine headache from a sufferer? I am talking about that kind of headache that makes someone shed tears like a baby!
I use to do this for my friends even when l was at the University (for free) and they were all amazed!
Does that sound strange to you? Can you explain it? Does it sound "reasonable and logical" to anyone here? But it works! undecided

Have you ever wondered or tried to explain it that when someone is having hiccups, by simply removing a strand of thread from their cloth and placing it on their head, the hiccups disappears? Try it yourself if you have never done it before.
Does that sound "reasonable and logical", from a scientific point of view?

My GrandMa once observed that Rats ate the clothing of a woman who was her friend (in our village), they just destroyed her expensive Aso Oke by burrowing holes through it, at random grin and as a favor, she told her to "say these words, at this specific time of the night".
She did exactly that and it was like the rats in every nearby state was invited for a meeting in that locality and a bo.mb was dropped within the meeting.
Rats died everywhere so much that we could hardly walk without stepping on a dead rat.
I curiously enquired from her, even as a little boy and she told me that "every living thing has a "name" for which it was associated with, at creation; if you know that name, you can "manipulate them" at will, and you can curse them with it, if need be and you can justify it.(which is what she did)

Maybe you are not aware that the easiest way to 'injure' anyone is through the name of whoever bore them.

How do you explain a situation where a new born baby has these "pounding area" (Yorubas call it Okaa) at the centre of their head and just by putting this seed in water (cant remember the name now... it is opened but when placed in water, it closes. I am sure our Mothers in the house may remember the name) and that child drinking the water, he gets healed?

How do you explain the way certain people "set/restore human broken bones" by "breaking the leg of a chicken, saying some words to it and as the leg of the "chicken" heals, the broken bone of the "human" also heals? I have done it in my early years and it is common amongst people of the Niger Delta (Ijaws, Ilajes, e.t.c) and people of certain areas in Ogun state (Ijebus, Aworis, e.t.c).
Is that "logical and reasonable"? Hell-No! But it sure works and it is true

Okay, l agree, these things are not "reasonable and logical", in scientific terms but l have seen enough empirical/real life scenario/evidence, to know there is "power" beyond science.

What l am trying to say is that "because it is not "logical nor reasonable" .... does not mean it is non-existent or false.
There are a thousand and one things that seem unreasonable, illogical but existent and true!
Seeing, is Believing.

Finally, let me say that we cannot continue to blame the "white man" for our failures, six decades after they have left us to do our business.
Asian Tigers like Singapore, Malaysia, e.t.c all got independent from their white slave-masters at about the same time as Nigeria or the majority of the black nations of Africa. How is it that these Asian countries have been able to make giant leaps while we are still mired in ridiculous posturings and abominable acts that makes the sense twinge?

Do you wonder that the first seeds of palm Oil planted in Malaysia, was taken from Nigeria..... but today, we import a large portion of the palm oil we consume, from ..... you guessed right! MALAYSIA!
Do we blame colonial masters for such lack of foresight and "collective foolishness" of our people?

Yes, the slave masters plundered us but Mother Earth has given us enough resources to overcome it, in the last sixty years, if we are a serious race.

One thing l have noticed about the black race (of which l am one) is that we are trying to compete with the white folks, in things they seem to have a "natural advantage" over us in...... instead of exploiting our own areas of natural advantages over them!
These white folks will condemn everything that they know Black race has an advantage over them!
That way, we would always be playing catch-Up to them, by trying to beat them at their own game, instead of them trying to compete with us on our own turf.

As to the existence of God, "religious positions and fate" aside, even Science has so far been unable to create "Enthalpy" (Order), from "Entropy" (Chaos) and as such, even the much vaunted Big-Bang theory falls flat on its face.
You just cant create a much-ordered Earth, from a mere-chance-explosion! undecided

We are then faced with the question: Who or What created the Earth and its high level of ORDER?
Call Him/It whatever name you like, God will always be God.

Cheers.

Love ur angle of view. You aced it! Many are losing fate in religion & it's not tthe best. There are things that can never be explained- life is a mystery. Thoughtful reasoning makes one an atheist. That Jesus died for me is all i wanna know... the rest should just leave me

podosci:
The truth lies in the fundamentals which is Density = mass / volume.
Volume
The volume in cubic meters is given has length x width x height. In this case the volume of the truck be it 6 tires or 10 tires can be obtained. I measured a 6tire once and got dimensions of 3.5 x 3.25 x 0.6 m resulting in 6.825 cubic meters.
Density
density varies with the type of materials and it's gotten from laboratory experiments. The density of different types of materials are listed below
Sharp sand/plaster sand = 1600kg/m3
Density of Gravel (using the dry density of concrete) = 2400kg/m3
Density of Ordinary Portland Cement = 1506kg/m3
Mass
The mass has a direct relationship weight and can be gotten by rearranging the formula earlier listed for density Mass in kg= density x Volume.
1000kg gives you 1 tone.( Mass kg/ 1000) = mass tonne

Let's say you received a trip of sand with a 6 tire having dimensions of 3.5x 3.25x0.6m giving you a volume of 6.825 cubic meters. Since we have established the density of sand to be 1600kg/m3
Mass kg = 6.825 x 1600
= 10920kg
Converting to tonne
Mass tonne = mass kg/1000
= 10920/1000
= 10. 9tonne
Next time you receive your material get your tape and calculator ready to be sure you paying for the right quantity.
baba pls clarify my doubts……… wat is the correct way to give dimensions or how is it done in site? length x width or th reverse? Most design softwares use width x height... pls assist with any useful explanation

For the dwarf goat project: read this...

Now who measures the parameters by which the job can be said to be one which will attract a "5-star review"? These sort of projects with nebulous targets are the type that create lots of problems.

That is why I clearly said, people should not just start opening profiles and bidding left and right without skills and without training. This does not have an anti-derivative; There is no closed form expression for the indefinite integral.
The primitives of ln(cos(x)) cannot be expressed as a finite combination of usual functions.
The analytic expression is complicated and includes a special function (polylogarithm).

integral log(cos(x)+sec(x)) dx = 1/2 (-i Li_2(-e^(2 i x))+i (Li_2((-3+2 sqrt(2)) e^(2 i x))+Li_2(-(3+2 sqrt(2)) e^(2 i x)))+i x^2+2 x log(1+e^(2 i x))-2 log(1+(3-2 sqrt(2)) e^(2 i x)) (x+sin^(-1)(sqrt(2)))-2 log(1+(3+2 sqrt(2)) e^(2 i x)) (x-sin^(-1)(sqrt(2)))-4 i sin^(-1)(sqrt(2)) tan^(-1)((tan(x))/sqrt(2))+2 x log(cos(x)+sec(x)))+constant

Where Lin(x) is the Polylogarithmic integral function which is given by the integral of dt/ln (t) from 0 to x for all positive real numbers where x=! 1.
the integral for x > 1 has to be interpreted as a Cauchy Principal value

The polylog in this case is specifically the 'dilogarithm' because of the power of n is 2 in the denominator of the sum.
cos (x) = (eix + e-ix)/2
