The way things are going right now in our country, we (The Structural Engineers) are needed more than ever.

Like how I explain our Job to people who ask; "thinking about the Human Anatomy.., see the structural engineer as the one in charge of the skeletal system and designing the various organs of the body, the Architect as the one in charge of aesthetics and the civil engineer as the one in charge of building the whole body!"

That little analogy up there shows we're the boss! (Sorry Civil guys )

Hey robinhood or whatever your name is, the way you talk about structural engineer like u av been brain washed. Wait! Did u fill it yourself during jamb or uniben tucked u in cos if u are in 100L, ur set is the 2nd set to be admitted through utme/pume but 3rd set in uniben currently offering ste as bsc i.e your 1st set in the history of uniben is in year4 as we speak. Before I proceed, I am in uniben , 300L, civil eng. Civil engineering can never be described the way you talk of it. It is wide field of study encompassing structural, water, highway, geotechnics, environment etc. Structural is just one of the many branches of civil & to think of likening civil to someone moulding block only shows how shallow a supposed structural engineer could think. It is true that both works hand-in-hand which one cannot overlook but do you know structural is not suppose to evn be for jambites? It is a very demanding task & should be for masters student who has finished civil engineering & not some who are still battling with phy113 & mth112.... One thing you should know is that u guys will get to pick a specific area of structure(say steel str, timber str etc) to specialize in & datz ur disadvantage but being a civil, u can perform as a str specialist in all areas of str whether steel, timber etc..... Oh, you don't know? Ask those higher in uniben & they will tell you civil is preferrable(no sentiments attached). It doesn't evn make sense for a "part" to be better than the "whole." Civil houses you... little wonder why we all use civil dept, h.o.d etc. See civil is evil & remains there... no need to argue over trifles. Str is good but, I tell you civil is better. You know why? I can be you ( a str engr) one day, but you can NEVER be me (a civil engr). You might not understand now bro, as you get up the ladder things will start getting clearer, just like DSTV. Besides, what's your name?

Experts in the house I need help.

I gave an architectural drawing & approval job to somebody and he messed up. I sketched out the way I preferred my floor plan to be but he ended up doing something else; how he ended up with the wrong floor plan is still beyond me.

None the less, he got the approval from the local authority but for the wrong architectural floor plan.

I actually sent the one I sketched through my uncle who's in 9ja because I reside overseas but the man in charge of the job maintained he wasn't given the one I sketched. I know he's lying because my uncle called me from the man's office when he delivered it to him & we talked about price.

Now, I just want to fix the mess & I still want my sketch done. If I secure the exact floor plan I want, does it mean I have to get a separate approval for it? How do I go about this?

if you want the sketch done, I could help. Even elevations, roof plans & 3d. Thats the part I can really answer. Maybe others here can help with your other questions……
