Family / Re: My 2 Months Old Marriage Is Crashing - HELP ME by positiveb: 1:45am On Apr 10, 2015
I am up dis late due to a similar stuff so I feel ur pains broda..I am begining to wonder if it is normal for married Women to insult their husbands whenever they are angry..Sincerely it beats my imaginations....I have some reservations about this ur wedding set-up;how can ur wife be out of the country less than 3 months after wedding? That is Recipe for disater! .First I would advice you do not even think of Divorce, cos it is a thot that grows the more you think about it...is it not ironical that Most ladies spend hours and days fasting and praying for husbands and when God answers their Prayers, they end up using their tongues to drive the men away. The behaviours of most of them stem from Watching E! Channels, peers group, poor home training, backgroup and our refusal as men to carry out due diliigence prior to marriage! My mum quoted dis adage when I told her about my marriage intentions that "WOMAN ARE LIKE CLOTH and YOU Can never tell its true colors and that I must show that I am the Man from day one" ...I made mistakes cos I refused to heed her advice early on and am still paying for that. To Win the battle in your home,You need to be Honest,be urself,be trustworthy, stop apologizing like a spoiled baby, define the roles of each partner early enuf and most importantly B PRAYFUL.

Ops E: I was at US Embassy last Thursday with my wife (planning for US delivery, her EDD is July 20th)and were granted visa, though duration will only be confirmed tomorrow when we pick up our passports. We were asked about our kids ages and schools and if we're expecting any baby next year, we answered No, since we are actually expecting this year and not next year, however we did not give further detail, my concern is I hope this will not be mis-interpreted to mean lie later in the future. Can someone with similar experience help.
. Hello,I sent you a mail.Can we talk?

Good day all, from reading all articles been posted here no mention is made of using bricks or clay for building of houses in Nigeria, considering the intense heat in places like Ilorin,Lokoja,Abuja and other part of North. Are Clay/Brick houses bad? What is the average cost for a 4 bd using Clay/brick? Are they truly competitive and heat resistant? Am alone, spyder n others,I need your reply and contributions.[sub][/sub]

Family / Re: Letter To Nigerian Parents by positiveb: 12:31am On Apr 19, 2012
I found this article intresting, please read

Friends, Let me add the benefit of my time as a student and then resident in the UK - and I live in Lagos now. The first thing that I discovered about UK-born, white, English undergraduates was that all of them did holiday or weekend job to support themselves - including the children of millionaires amongst them. It is the norm over there - regardless how wealthy their parents are. And I soon discovered that virtually all other foreign students did the same - the exception being those of us status-conscious Nigerians.

I also watched Richard Branson (owner of Virgin Airline) speaking on the Biography Channel and, to my amazement, he said that his young children travel in the economy class -even when the parents (he and his wife) are in upper class. Richard Branson is a billionaire in Pound Sterling. A quick survey would show you that only children from Nigeria fly business or upper class to commence their studies in the UK. No other foreign students do this.

There is no aircraft attached to the office of the prime minister in the UK - he travels on BA. And the same goes for the Royals. The Queen does not have an aircraft for her exclusive use. These practices simply become the culture which the next generation carries forward. Have you seen the car that Kate Middleton(the lady soon to marry Prince William) drives? VW Golf or something close to it. But there's one core difference them and us(generally speaking). They (even the billionaires among them) work for their money,we steal ours!

If we want our children to bring about the desired change we have been praying for on behalf of our dear country, then please, please let's begin now and teach them to work hard so they can stand alone and most importantly be content, and not having to "steal", which seem to be the norm these days.

"30 is the new 18", which seem to be the new age for testing out the world in Nigeria now. That seems to be an unspoken but widely accepted mindset among the last 2 generations of parents in Nigeria. At age 18 years, a typical young adult in the UK leaves the clutches of his/her parents for the University, chances are, that's the last time those parents will ever play "landlord" to their son or daughter except of course the occasional home visits during the academic year.

At 21 years and above or below, the now fully grown and independent minded adult graduates from University, searches for employment, gets a job and shares a flat with other young people on a journey into becoming fully fledged adults.

I can hear the echo of parents saying, well, that is because the UK economy is thriving, safe, well structured and jobs are everywhere? I beg to differ and I ask that you kindly hear me out. I am UK trained Recruitment Consultant and I have been practicing for the past 10 years in Nigeria. I have a broad range of experience from recruiting graduates to executive director level of large corporations. In addition, I talk from the point of view of someone with relatively privileged upbringing. Driven to school every day, had my clothes washed for me, was barred from taking any part-time job during my A-levels so that I could concentrate on studying for my exams?! BUT, I got the opportunity to live apart from my parents from age 18 and the only time I came back home to stay was for 3 months before I got married!

Am I saying that every parent should wash their hands off their children at age 18? No, not at all, of course, I enjoyed the savings that I made from living on and off at my parent's house in London

Politics / Re: Boko Haram Plans Massive Attacks In June To Prove Jonathan Wrong by positiveb: 7:12pm On Apr 09, 2012
Gbawe:

I don't understand why Jonathan can never be intelligent or circumspect in speech. Even if not naturally intelligent or quick on the uptake, surely he must have a retinue of expensively paid 'advisors'?

When the former IGP ,a token appointment by GEJ, bragged that he would deal with Boko Haram, he was lucky to escape assassination by the group when they retaliated against his utterance by following his convoy and detonating a bomb at police HQ !!!!

Likewise, when our defense minister , another token appointment by GEJ, stated simplistically and naively that Boko Haram "will soon end" Nigerians did not see such happen. Instead they witnessed more daring blood-letting by the group.

One would then think GEJ will be sensible enough to speak in ways that would not make him look foolish or inept in future. Considering the litany of broken promises that typifies his leadership, I would think GEJ would be better off delivering concrete results instead of giving Boko Haram specific markers for embarrassing an embattled Presidency. What will GEJ do If Boko Haram attacks devastatingly in June?

Odu-toda-iwa:
Jonathan finally has an award, at least. The most stupid man to have ruled a nation. Was wondering why he would make such a statement as by June Boko Haram will be over. If by June, Boko Haram idiots do their worst. He should at least be able to explain to Nigerians why his oracle failed him.
