EducationHouse Of Reps Honours UNILAG Graduate With 5.0 CGPA by possibleloaded(op): 6:28pm On Mar 22, 2016
The House of Representatives in a letter addressed to eavh member of the house titled “NEW ACADEMIC RECORD BY AYODELE DANIEL DADA” and written by the Majority Leader, Hon. Femi, stated that the hallowed chamber will today honour and celebrate Mr. Ayodele who recently graduated from the Department of Psychology of the University of Lagos with a 5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA).

Excerpts of the letter read, “In the last two weeks Nigeria and Nigerians have been inundated with news of the incredible performance of Mr Ayodele Dada a student of the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Lagos who set a new academic record by graduating with a 5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average. The first time ever in the University’s and perhaps Nigeria’s history.

“I believe as leaders and as a country its time we start celebrating our successes particularly in a period of great national despondency that has enveloped us for years now. As a House I believe we should recognize, celebrate and commend Mr Ayodele so as to encourage him and give hope and inspiration to many others.

“To this end, I wish for you to join me as we suspend the House rules to invite Mr. Ayodele Dada to the floor of the House on Tuesday 22nd March to honour the young man and his remarkable achievement. His story is compelling and inspirational to the youth and he represents and mirrors the hope of our tomorrow.”

EducationMy JAMB Testimony by possibleloaded(op):
It was just like a movie when I got to the exam center lately.I found myself in the middle of Rock and hard place. Firstly, I thought my schedule is 8:30am when I had the PDF and the print out with me, I was careless not checking since I had checked the first time.
https://i0.wp.com/examrelief.tk/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/wp-1457523767748.jpeg

As I got to where I was to have my biometric, the woman insisted that I was late, so, she wouldn’t permit me, but with a lot of pleading from some of the staff there, she allowed me and I was taken in.

But my calmness altered, when a man with eye glass like mine entered and asked me out, and I have already logged in. I obeyed firstly, then I started pleading, but the man looked so rigid that I was even afraid of begging him further. My time was already counting, and I was outside the hall looking pensive.

Lolz. It’s not funny @ all. Then later a man entered and the man reconciled for me, he also asked who was at fault, what do you think, I quickly concede. I spent just like 30 to 45 mins, because I had to rush through the questions, but thank God, he made it familiar.

Despite the UPs and Downs, I scored 232. Though, I wasn’t pleased because I knew I deserved more than that, but to God be the glory because I received mercy. That’s my testimony. Share yours if there is any.

EducationJAMB 2016 UTME Experience: Read What Candidates Passed Through During The Exams by possibleloaded(op): 6:26am On Mar 09, 2016
The Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) finally moved from the Paper Pencil Test (PPT) to the Computer Based Test (CBT) for students writing the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) last year.
https://i1.wp.com/examrelief.tk/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/wp-1456786250094.png?resize=300%2C174
This year’s edition of the examination is currently ongoing with the exam body assuring candidates of getting their results 30 minutes after leaving the hall, which is an improvement compared to last year’s two hours.

For the smooth running of the exam, JAMB developed a software, that performs core operational services like checking of candidates’ result, retrieval of registration number, result verification, checking of admission status and centre location.

They also made special arrangements for the visually impaired candidates, with the introduction of Braille technology for the blind.
Another innovation introduced by the board is the Anti-guessing software, called Item Response Theory, which will reduce the tendency for candidates to guess accurately during the 2016 examination.

Here is what candidates that participated in the examination so far has to say;

Must Read: 2016 JAMB CBT Result is Out – check here

Some of the candidates who spoke to reporters said the exams was well organised and they preferred it to the paper and pencil type of examinations.

A candidate, Adeniran Rafiat, said “I wasn’t too familiar with the computer but had to go learn how to use it and also bought the CBT practice disc which really helped me during the exams.

“The exams was without hitches though there were few cases of some candidates who were not familiar with the computer who mistakenly submitted their scripts without answering any question.”

Sayidat Olajide also bought the CBT practice disc and had to learn how to operate the computer to enable her take part in the exams.

For Kehinde Nafisat, though the paper and pencil exams was a more preferred option because she isn’t too familiar with the computer, but the exams was okay as she prepared well for it.

Though Olatemiotan Timileyin and Lanre Tijani were logged off before the expiration of their time, they said the exams was well organised, was fairly easy and didnt give room for exam malpractice as biometrics were carried out on the candidates before and after the exams.

According to another candidate, Chidinma Ukegbu, although the system is faster, there is need for improvement in subsequent examinations.

“The new system is faster and effective for anybody who is conversant with computer. Any candidate, who knows what he is doing can finish the examination on time and expect the results within 24 hours. But there is the need to improve on the Internet provision.” she stated.

A candidate who doesn’t want his name mentioned said that he regrets not reading the recommended text “Last Days at Forcados High” as fifteen questions came out from it.

He however expressed confidence that he will scale through because he prepared for the examination very well with past questions which helped him a lot.

Many of the candidates are complaining that they experienced technical hitches at the beginning of the test.

For instance, Master Benedict Ameh, who sat for the examination at the Bafuto Computer and Secretarial School, Egbe, attributed the initial delay to a technical hitch.

The candidate, however said that he was conversant with desktop operations and noted that he found the whole exercise interesting.

Another candidate, Miss Chinasa Egbuebe, linked the delay to a system failure. At the Chams City, Ikeja, the examination also did not start by 8am.

Happiness Ele, whose centre was at Federal Government College of Education, Omoku, said she had not been able to write the examination for two days since she had been going to the school to wait her turn because the computers were insufficient.

At Electronic Testing Centre on Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos, many parents complained to have waited from morning till evening for their wards, because the examination started late.

One bitter parent, who chose to remain anonymous, said his son, whose test was slated to be done by 1pm, was not allowed into the hall until 4pm.

Angrily, he said: “They spoilt all my plans for today. I have been making calls to cancel all my meetings and appointments for today. Can’t anything just work right in this nation?”

The situation was similar at Cham City, Maryland, Ikeja, another CBT centre. A parent, Mrs Bridget Akpos said the time lag tired the candidates, accusing JAMB of not being fully prepared to run the CBT.

At the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, some of the candidates complained that the systems given to them were neither working well nor sufficient for all.

Despite the hitches in some centres, some others were relatively problem free. In such centres, the candidates were happy and noted they preferred CBT mode.

Nosike Oscar, who wrote in Abuja, said the CBT eliminates examination malpractice, which was the bane of the PPT.

Another candidate, Faith Oluwamuyiwa, said it reduces stress and the timing was perfect.

JAMB can take courage in success reports from other UTME centres in Lagos, including the University of Lagos, Federal College of Education Technical (FCE-T), Akoka, and Digital Bridge Institute, Cappa, Oshodi, where the process was smooth and successful.

At UNILAG, the candidates took their test in due time and with minimal technical challenges.

Deborah Bello, Jessica Chijioke and Ayinde Rashidat, gave similar testimonies of the computers and server at their centres being in perfect condition, hence, they started and finished their examinations with no disruption.

In Abuja metropolis, there were six centres and two others located on the outskirt. Some of these centres are accredited ICT-oriented organization like Chams City at Garki, Digital Bridge at Utako, Global Learning at Central Area, NEEDS, Anglican, and then the centres at Bwari and Gwagwalada outskirts.

These centres have two or three sessions depending on their capacities. Basically, each session have 30,000 candidates.

Best of luck To You all…

EducationMy Opinion: JAMB Should Remark This Exam Or Cancel It by possibleloaded(op): 5:09pm On Mar 05, 2016
Since I knew about JAMB, I have never had any news saying that more than half of those that sat for jamb were complaining that they were not given their right scores.

When majority are complaining, then its obvious that they are saying the truth. People are just crying everywhere, because its very painful that you are very sure of what you wrote expecting nothing less that 300, and at the end of the day JAMB sent you 180 as your score.

Some complained that the subject that they answered just few questions were where they got the highest marks meanwhile failing those they were sure of. Have you ever heard of JAMB dashing people 5 marks, talk more of 40, to tell you that they know that they are at fault and that the scores they gave them at the initial time was not their real score.

If those exams where to be remarked, i am 100% sure that more that half of those people complaining will score higher than their formal score plus 40. And now there are not still giving everybody the 40 additional marks no matter the reason for that,is that not cheating, partiality and wickedness.

Imagine that someone they originally gave 160 and letter added 40 will now have a total score of 200 whereas there is also another person out there that is normally not supposed to score 160 but was given 160 with no additional mark. And the one with 200 will sit for putme in his/her choice university while the other will not.

Is it fair? There should be equity. So therefore its high time the govt should come into this situation and solve it. Last year, JAMB came up with eligibility, now it is wrong markings.

All Jambites affected seriously needs to disagree with this jamb 2016 result. The govt should look into look into this matter because this is really unbearable. If this where to be some other foreign countries, by now there must have been a record of about 1000 students that have committed suicide. For the fact that Nigerians are not like that doesn’t mean they should be deprived of their right.

Seriously the government ought to look into this matter.
Its either jamb gives the computer the right answers and remark these test or cancel the exam or call them to rewrite their exams after they must have resolved the problems.

EducationSolutions To 2016 JAMB CBT Experiences by possibleloaded(op): 2:22pm On Feb 28, 2016
The thread highlights the Problems that candidates experienced during their exams on 27th Feb, 2016 and their possible solutions.

We believe you’ve been waiting for this thread, so we will just jump right into the issues and tackle them using Our staff experience of computers and exams generally.

First, we will like to thank all 27th Feb JAMB Candidates for giving us the the hints and inspiration to write the post. We love you all and we Examrelief Admin equally wish you success.

1. TIME: The timing for the 2016 CBT exams has changed, although the number of questions are the same. This means you have to work with time while Practicing JAMB Past Questions. The new time is 2hrs 45Mins. The time in previous exams used to be 3hrs 30mins. We are still not sure what inspired the decision for shortening the time but it simply means you have to now work harder.

2. CALCULATOR: For the 2016 JAMB, you will be using what is called an “ON-SCREEN Calculator”. You will no longer be using physical, hard calculator. This type of calculator is the type you activate from the computer and you simply click on the values as you see them on the screen. It’s just like the type on your mobile phone. According to reports from candidates that wrote on 27th Feb, the button for the calculator is located at the bottom right corner of the JAMB CBT Environment. Just click on it and the calculator will appear.

If you want to practice how to use an “ON-SCREEN Calculator” on a computer system. Open the calculator from your computer, follow these steps;

i. Click on the start menu at the bottom left of your screen.
ii. Find and Click on “All Programs”.
iii. Find and Click on “Accessories”
iv. Then Find and Click on “Calculator”.
v. It should be very easy to use.

If the calculator you see now, is the type you see on the exam day, you can easily switch to the “Scientific” or “Statistics” part of the calculator by clicking “View” among the top menus in the calculator.

If you will be needing a calculator, you should practice using it before the exam to save you a lot of time and errors you can avoid by calculating using paper.

3. Rough Sheet: Some candidates have complained they were not given rough sheet, while others say they were given. Either way, you have to go prepared. We suggest, you make 2 extra photo copy of your Exam Slip. I believe you will be allowed to take this into the hall and you can use that as a back-up.

4. Log-Out Issues:
Some candidates complained that sometimes, the system just logs them out of the exam. Don’t Panic! Just simply log in again by using your JAMB Registration Number or call the attention of an invigilator.

5. What CBT environment is like: According to a candidate, the mode of asking questions, and navigating is similar to the Online CBT practice. So you can practice for free to get yourself acquainted.

6. Circumstances beyond your control: There are some issues that may occur, which are way beyond your control e.g. Power Shutdown, Network or Server Issues e.t.c. In this case, you have to pray that the issue is resolved as quickly as possible by the staff of the centre.

7. GUESSING Software: There is really no guessing software. If you see your time is almost running out, do the best you can to select the right guesses and ensure you select an option for every question. You might just guess right.

8. We may UPDATE this number if there is any further solution to an experience we feel we should share so please come back later and reload this page from time to time to see if we have added any new thing on this number.

If you have any point you think we missed out, post it as a comment to inform others. We will monitor this thread to see if this publication needs to be updated with your point.

Goodluck!

Education27th Feb JAMB Results Via SMS - Share Yours Here! by possibleloaded(op): 1:53pm On Feb 28, 2016
So we all know that JAMB said we should Expect Our Result Within 30 Minutes After The Examination.

According to the report, candidates will receive a
graphical result of the examination via SMS on the mobile phone numbers they provided during registration. The actual result will be made available online within four days.

We're actually not too sure what they mean, so we urge all candidates, who wrote on 27th Feb to share their JAMB scores and also let us know the statement as issued in the SMS.

From our experience last year, we understand that the Results sent via SMS is an approximate value and may not be the final and actual result when available on the portal. Note however that the final result on the Original JAMB Result Slip is the final value.

Please also let us know the subjects you took for the score you got. If you also want to share any experience, feel free to do so here.

Did you actually get your result within 30 minutes, please let us know.
EducationFree JAMB Computer Based Test CBT Tutorial (video Included) by possibleloaded(op): 9:28am On Feb 28, 2016
Computer Based Test (CBT)is a modern testing procedure where each examiner answers their question directly on a computer

https://i2.wp.com/examrelief.tk/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/wp-1456643670015.jpeg

It’s a bit different from the traditional way of testing where individuals will have to answer their questions using a paper and a pencil or Pen.
Computer Based Testing requires the examiner to have a grab on basic computer knowledge, which involves appreciation of common computer desktop icons, basic mouse use, as well as understanding important navigation. Apart from writing the Exams on a computer, the arrangement of the exams with respect to timing and level of precision also differs with the conventional paper and pencil based testing. We are trying to paint the picture that based portray the pattern of computer based test to enable prospective candidates, notably first timers, to get the basic features of the computer based examination scenario.

EducationYou Have Not Printed Your JAMB Exam Slip? Here’s What To Do by possibleloaded(op): 11:45am On Feb 24, 2016
If you are still unable to print your JAMB Exam slip by now, here are the steps you should take.

From all indications, JAMB may most likely begin exams on 27th Feb, 2016, as indicated on some of the exam slips printed by some candidates. This means, we expect all candidates to have printed their slips before 27th Feb.

At this time, it's getting late for you to do that already and we hope you're are still preparing, just in case you fall on 27th Feb.

Here are the steps;

1. Ensure you stay up this night (2am, 3am, 4am, 5am) for as long as you can or you can set an alarm for such a time to see if you can at least download your PDF file using the procedures we outlined here. If you are successful, you can go to any business centre around you (with your phone cable) to print your slip from your phone.

2. If you are unsuccessful all through the night, you should head to the nearest accredited CBT centre near you as it appears they may have a special link they use to make such print outs. If they ask you to drop your details and a small fee (max N500), please do. You may be asked to come back the next day.

3. When you get home, keep trying to download the slip yourself and TRY STEP 1 all over again.

4. Drop your Registration number HERE as comment for our Admin or other candidates who has checked theirs to help you out by checking and post your Centre, Date and Time. Keep checking on the page after dropping you Registration Number to checked if you have been replied.
