ChimaAdeoye:
If you had come out clean from the star to say I'm from Enugu and i'm against an airport in Anambra because i think Anambra airport will adversely affect my state's airport. It would have been understandable to many. But because you decided to throw silly and unfounded arguments thinking you were being smart by half, everyone in this forum truly think you are a mad person.
Mad is he who throws about accusations without substance. One, I am not from Enugu state nor have I claimed to be. Two, you are mad.

Now let me remind you that when Owerri airport was being built in the 1990s, the same fears you have now about it killing Enugu airport was expressed. Year later, we now know that fear was unfounded. Likewise when Asaba airport was being built, the same fears that it would kill Owerri airport was peddled. Well, again after these years, we now know that fear was also baseless. Some people like you even said if Anambra and Ebonyi states were created, Enugu would stop developing and become a village. Again such silly mindset were found to be baseless. Owerri and Enugu airports have continued to increase in passenger volume since Asaba became operational, just as Enugu has continued to develop even with the presence of Awka and Abakaliki as state capitals.

What people like you always fail to consider is that the economy and population ALWAYS GROWS and its not stagnant. What that means is that if Owerri airport had not been built, 90% of the people taking flights from Owerri to Abuja or Lagos would rather take a bus instead of the grueling 3 - 4 hours road trip to Enugu or Port Harcourt and then wait another 2 hours at the airport for the flight. They will be lucky if its not delayed or canceled. In effect, an airport being in Enugu with very terrible roads between Owerri and Enugu will not make them decide to fly. Human beings are rational animals, that is why your assessment is poor because you think people will do the same thing no matter the condition. Take a survey of people using Owerri airport today and ask them if they had used Enugu airport in the past when there was no airport in Owerri. An overwhelming majority will tell you they go via bus from Lagos to Owerri eachtime. They only fly now because there is an airport in Owerri. Meaning, Enugu will always have most of its passengers and the new area will build new clientele of people that will now decide it makes sense to fly and take a taxi home. Than travel another 4 hours after a flight
Total nonsense.

If Owerri was not built Port Harcourt is 1. 5 hours away. If Asaba was not built Enugu is right there. And I prefer viable significant airports not small small local champions all over the place.

Back to the point, population determines how many airport should be adequate for an area. In fact many CITIES in the world with a population of up to 5 or 10 million have upwards of 3 - 5 airports! Do the research and find out. Now, the southeast region of Nigeria is about 29,000 sqKM with at least greater 35 million people living in it. If it were a country, it would be more populated than a country like Peru. Yet, for a population of 31 million people, Peru had 5 international airports and 60 domestic airports functioning at full capacity. Peru is not a rich country. Most people in southeast Nigeria have a higher standard of living than Peruvians.
Economics determines viability of airports not population.

Peru is 8 times the size of Eastern Nigeria and 1.3x the size of Nigeria. Peru receives 40x more tourists than Nigeria and has a massive mining industry. It is 3x richer than Nigeria.

Your fears that Anambra airport will cause a slow down of Enugu is totally unfounded. Especially if they ply different destinations internationally. Creating competition is how serious countries develop. Nigeria loves inefficiency from creating monopolies precisely out of tribalism and primordial considerations. That is why Nigerians who leave the shores of Nigeria excel because at home the government ensures that nothing is allowed to function the way it should. Nigeria is the type of country where they have 50 students in a classroom, but instead of making sure the classroom has 50 seats, they will deliberately allow only 10 seats in the classroom. So that all sorts of corruption and vice will thrive among the students scheming how to capture a seat than how to learn. I truly don't think you are Igbo because an average Igboman is not afraid of competition. But if you are indeed from Enugu state, then you are a disgrace to the great people of Enugu state.
Anambra airport is a white elephant. It will bleed money the same way Asaba did until Delta State concessioned it. Let's discuss it after that point.

Did anyone buy data for you? Why not discuss whatever you want to discuss and allow others the freedom of what they want to discuss.

Anambra international airport is on the front burner, it is only envious outsiders that are disturbed by the discussion of the airport here.

Anambra has the largest economy in SE

Anambra has the biggest GDP in SE

Anambra has the lowest poverty rate in SE

Anambra is to the SE what Lagos and Rivers are to the SW and SS respectively.

Other airports in the region should be shut down so that every other states in the region should key into the Anambra international airport airport because it is more standard with the longest runway and CAT2 lighting systems.

Mktinsight you have failed in your mission despite all the sleepless nights you keep having. You were in this thread at 2am to 4am crying, this morning you are back again to cry. You will soon knock like engine to our delight cool

Bros, all i can say is save your breathe. You don't need to teach them anything. I know some people like him also instigated major Igbo transporters in Onitsha claiming an airport in Asaba would kill their land transport business! Many of them bribed Uduaghan to take the airport to Ughelli, but failed. So they will always throw those types of silly arguments.

That night owl is likely one of these Fulani guys prowling around Nairaland. Their disjointed argument is the same. He is trying to claim Enugu to make him appear Igbo. Remember he once said he was from Nibo and when someone from there asked him specific questions, he quickly changed the topic.

The most important thing is that the airport has been built and now a reality. He is also the same that posted above me. So his cries and bitterness that Anambra will get an airport is totally his problem. I am only glad that majority of the people in this forum understood his mission and totally ignored him. I thank Mystery shopper that ensured he cried every time he visits this forum for his witchcraft activities. It has not been easy for him. That is why he uses multiple monikers to respond to himself. To borrow mystery shopper's words, he is frustrated old mad man. Indeed, that is accurate by any definition.

Anambra international airport will be our discussion here, any oitsider that's not happy should just use dagger on himself. cheesy
Please my people. Nobody should reply to these idiots and haters anymore. The airport is coming on stream. Its paining them. They dont wish well on others. We need to focus and make sure its the best airport in Nigeria. Another governor will sort out our roads and other issues. I am thinking that i may be best that Soludo wins because he will work to out do Obiano for sure. I even believe his legacy project will be rail. Soludo is the best man for the job. Lets support him and also congratulate obiano. Through these years we have critized him but he has truly delivered what Anambra needs and that is an Airport. No one is perfect
