ecclize: 1.The governments past and present from time to time reduce the amount of money spent on subsidy, which manifests as prices going up...that is what they mean by 'stopping subsidy'. Truth is they aren't. Especially as they still control the pricing. 2.Value of the naira rises with fall in dollar revenue , and thus causes a 'rise ' in petrol prices (since 2014, crude oil , our source of revenue, has been falling in price) |

optimus106: Assuming Buhari really removed subsidy in 2015, FUEL would have been costing over 200 naira per liter by 2016. And he would have been voted out by 2019. Subsidy is not something any Nigerian leader wants to remove...it is too expensive politically. 1 Like |

Buhari is a bloody corrupt man. During Jonathan's administration, he said there was NOTHING like subsidy that it was the imagination of the PDP. Later, he increased fuel price when he became the President claiming he wanted to remove the subsidy he earlier said was non-existent. Now he wants to be spending fund on subsidy again. WHO ARE THEY SUBSIDISING FOR? 4 Likes 1 Share |

I thought 3 months ago the Federal government of Nigeria told us subsidy has been removed and that was what made fuel to sell at 162 to 165. So was that a SCAM? Please if am to ask how many barrels or crude oil per day do we produce? How many barrels of crude oil per day do we sell? At what exchange rate do we sell crude oil and buy fuel. With other by-products. With the answers provided I can tell you Buhari no sabi wetin him dey do as the minister of petroleum and his claim of integrity with no corruption. |

Kriss216: The economists that work for this gvt should have known and advised the gvt to fix or build 2 or 3 modular refineries for domestic consumption. Infact, as the petroleum minister and the president , he should have built these refineries to avert the current subsidy issues we are now facing. 1 Like |

Reference: If there was no subsidy, fuel would be costing N300 and above by now.(But our refineries would be working since they are now profitable to maintain, and fuel prices come down) Infact, Nigeria has very cheap fuel compared to other African countries....especially in West Africa. Always has been like that. |

Kubernetes: And the same economists would have also told him to completely remove subsides to allow the refineries to work. Which is politically expensive. Plus two or 3 modular refineries won't fix our fuel supply issues...we need something like 5 or 6 dangote level refineries. |
Re: Nigeria To Spend N103 Billion Monthly On Petrol Subsidy by Nobody: 2:58pm On Mar 19, 2021 |
Niorte: If Buhari was not subsidisng fuel, fuel would have been near the N300 mark by now. PLus he said there was nothing like subsidy simply because he did not udnerstand how a subsidy worked then. |
