Allowances are added.....I worked with edo state civil service before and that's how they do the letter without allowances...I work with lagos state too....lagos puts everything in your letter but others dont

No additional cash inform of allowances to that amount (24k monthly) bro; except occasionally bonuses like during Christmas, Salah, Easter and co. For any increment to that, the person will wait until his/her first promotion (and that will be in three or four years' time). I work with Lagos State government, trust me i have the first-hand information when we talk about civil service.

All these guys quoting my post. Do u actually know what is going on out there? Same graduates are working with private schools for less than 20k with much work load. we know this pay is not good coming from federal government but it will go a long way for a lot of people

It is ridiculously low but that is how most civil servant job is in Nigeria, that is why reforming that sector will take a miracle. Nevertheless, we must also know that most govt agencies and parastatals only quote the basic salary on their employment letters. A friend of mine almost lost DPR job when he wanted to leave the bank years ago, I cant remember how much was on his offer letter but it was around N1,000,000 (already on around N4M in bank) or so then until his godfather explained to him properly. Have you guys seen annual basic salary of a Nigerian Professor? you will be deceived thinking you earn more than them.
Even where I work now, my offer letter read N693,000 annual basic when i took up the job and I was leaving bank with annual earnings of close to N5M, thank God for proper advise then, I would have been regretting now.
Everything in Nigeria is shrouded with secrecy, someone argued with me that the highest bank CEO in Nigeria only earns N160M P.A and hence M.D CEOs cannot afford a mansion at Minister's hill in Abuja, I still dey laugh in French each time i remember. It's not the person's fault though cos that's what is openly available as their remuneration but if you see what enter their account monthly on the average, e pass that N160M sef. Given what I know about top banks in Nigeria, their is no bank E.D that is not a billionaire much more the M.D/CEO.
