Misconceptions About Dangote Refinery by NASTYNASOSO: 5:57pm On Mar 28, 2021
Let's clear these misconceptions about Dangote Refinery and why we're celebrating him

- Dangote had tried to venture into the oil and gas industry since 2007, he proposed among other interests to buy the moribund Nigeria Refineries, the PDP and it's abracadabra politics frustrated every interested buyers and bidders until Yar'Adua came and cancelled the while process because it was filled with secrecy and frauds, even if they had bought then, it would have ended up like the Discos with epileptic service till date.

Then in 2013, he applied for a licence to build his own Refinery from the scratch, the value then was $9bn and he had secured over $3.3bn finance from within and expected to secure another $3bn from outside the country, with Dangote group providing the shortfall of $3bn dollars

This did not take off until late 2017 when the current govt showed enough will and readiness to support private Refinery, against all effort by oil marketers who felt threatened by the project

- Over 20 bidders applied for licence under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, but not a a not single one was allowed to see the light of day, you know why? Sabotage

- currently, there are about 3 Modular Refineries working in Nigeria with a combined capacity of 20,000 barrels per day, but like we all know, modular Refineries only refines one line of fuel, either PMS or diesel, unlike remain refineries that refines all

Our daily National demand is put at a little over 400,000 barrels per day so, the modular Refineries will not scratch anything

Bua is also building a 100,000 barrel capacity which is projected to commence refining by 2023

- Portharcourt Refinery is to be refurbished to its original installed capacity of 220,000 barrels per day

- Govt will take a decision on other 3 refineries with combine capacity of about 200,000 barrels per day

- Dangote Refinery will not sell petrol to Nigeria bellow the global market price

- Emergence of Dangote Refinery will reduce the inherent pressure on Naira value, thereby most likely reduce exchange rate.

- Exchange rate will affect crude price to Dangote, thereby reducing the landing cost of the PMS at depots

- There are so many associated cost in PMS import that will be eliminated when we buy from Dangote Refinery, so many costs in dollars will be eliminated, these also will affect the price

- Over the years, there will be competition, it happened in the telecoms sector, MTN ridiculed us until the game changer (Glo) entered the market

- Because we have crude, most investors who were either to sceptical will also approach Nigeria for licence and there will not only be competition, but there will be prosperity and employment opportunities in the oil business value chain

- Now listen to this, the oil and gas value chain is so large that the potential employment opportunities from the 3 main Refineries currently in the pipe line will not be less than 5million direct and indirect labour, don't ask me how, just ask yourself, how has the telecoms employed over 10m direct and indirect labour across the cities of Nigeria

- Govt revenue will increase by not less than 45% quote me on this, that's the potential of oil and Gas sector

- Dangote Refinery will change the face of business and investment in Nigeria, it will will turn our economy Sugar that ants will begin to infest in droves

- Stop castigating Dangote, he currently have investment in 17 African countries, if you drive him out of Nigeria, which I know can never happen, there are over 100 countries in Europe, America and Africa and Asia ready to absorb him whole heartedly

- Only Buhari can see such potential and plug the Nation into it

- Yes having said all the turenchi above, price of PMS will ultimately reduce with Dangote Refinery

- Dangote Refinery needs Nigeria as much as Nigerians need Dangote Refinery
