ThumbzTNA:in what way do you think that's feasible when the only reason a state is being considered for SE is to make it have 6 states and increase the southern states from 17 to 18 against the norths 19 plus Abuja? Or you don't know the new states will get seats in NASS? |
Re: The 6th South East State: Etiti State by ThumbzTNA(m): 11:02am On Mar 29, 2021 |
selemempe: Let's do the math since politics is a game of numbers What we have now is 5 SE states with 3 senators each = 15 igbo senators + 3 Igbo senators from SS (Delta North, Rivers West and Rivers East) = 18 senators What you are proposing 5 SE states x 3 senators each = 15 + 3 Anioma senators (when Anioma is added to the SE) = 18 + 2 Igbo Rivers senators = 20 senators What I'm proposing 6 SE states x 3 senators each = 18 + 3 Igbo senators from SS (Delta North, Rivers West and Rivers East, even if these 3 senatorial districts are merged to be become a state in the SS) = 21 senators |

ThumbzTNA:so because of one additional senator, you want us to overlook the landmass addition to SE? The population addition to SE and the general better visibility Anioma will bring....I don't even want to tell you how it helps our unity of purpose. Also ND have their own agenda and the senators you mentioned will always go with Niger Delta agenda unless they are moved to SE zone |

Re: The 6th South East State: Etiti State by ThumbzTNA(m): 12:14pm On Mar 29, 2021 |
selemempe: Landmass occupied by Igbo whether in SE or SS is already igboland. For example, I as an Igbo man feel more comfortable building a house in Asaba (whether it's in SE or SS) than building one in Otukpo or Calabar In my humble opinion, what Igbo in SS need is to have a state to themselves, but said state will still remain in the SS. They shouldn't share a state with other tribes. It's true that igbo people from SS are always torn between agenda of the ND and that of Igbo. That's what brings about identity crises. Having a state that is made up of Delta North, Rivers East and Rivers West (Igbo and igboid group in the South South) is the best for everyone. The minority tribes are happy because they finally have their state to themselves. The Igbo are happy because they are finally in a state with one identity and destiny. Everyone wins 1 Like |

Re: The 6th South East State: Etiti State by selemempe: 12:31pm On Mar 29, 2021 |
ThumbzTNA:states cannot be created for any other zone in the south except SE. This is because only one state can be allowed in the south now. So would you rather that state be created for SS? Nobody in NASS will even support that. So the argument should be...the south has one shot at state creation which is to give the SE one extra state. Now the SE must decide where that state would be carved from. |
Re: The 6th South East State: Etiti State by ThumbzTNA(m): 12:46pm On Mar 29, 2021 |
selemempe: Why do you believe only one more state can be added to the South. Isn't there a region with 7 states in the North and another with 6 states and abuja (which is an administrative unit with it's own senator). The South South can have 7 states, if we're really talking about balancing things up Anyway, I think we can both agree that the important thing is that the SE gets it's additional state, be it Anioma or Etiti. That's the main focus |

ThumbzTNA:Here you miss it. If there needs to be another addition to the already existing states in South east, then states like Kogi, Benue can shed landmass plus people plus a little addition from Enugu and ebonyi to form another state for south east, or Igbo speaking areas in Delta, Edo, Rivers can come together with parts of Anambra state to form another state. That is what you call addition. If we are not getting more landmass, then it is an exercise in furtility. |
Re: The 6th South East State: Etiti State by Okadall: 1:23pm On Mar 29, 2021 |
Lolz since Nigeria has not been fair to this people They should be left alone, you are only causing separation among the Igbo people which will tell on the long run. They have the least land mass of all three major ethnic group yet you still want to create another state of the little they have did they complain to you.? Only after some decades y'all will know you are gradually being turned into a minority group Don't misquote me 1 Like 1 Share |

Okadall: Gbagyi are found in Kaduna, Niger, Abuja and Nasarawa. That means they have enough landmass but they are still a minority tribe in Nigeria. You know why? They have neither population, cohesion or infleunce. |

ThumbzTNA:Anioma state is in the south south but majority of them identify as igbos so instead of tearing up or carving out towns and villages to create a sixth state in the south east, it's better an Anioma state be created and be the sixth state for for igbos. |
Re: The 6th South East State: Etiti State by Okadall: 3:37pm On Mar 29, 2021 |
ThumbzTNA: That doesn't explain the effort of trying to fragment the Igbo people to smaller groups Niger state has a large expanse of land mass yet another state has not been created out of it |
Re: The 6th South East State: Etiti State by ThumbzTNA(m): 3:53pm On Mar 29, 2021 |
Okadall: My school of thought is Fragmenting Igbo states into smaller states enables development to get to be brought closer to the people. I use Ebonyi as an example. Abakaliki developed less rapidly when it was still under Enugu because it was never a state capital or even close to one. Development was focused on other towns and so never got this much monetary allocation. Now within 15 years of the creation of Ebonyi, Abakaliki has moved from the dusty town to the most organized and serene capital in southern Nigeria. Agriculture that has been it's Hallmark is booming more than it ever was. The Ebonyi state University is ensuring that it's people get an education. And Ebonyi is faring better all the other states created alongside it The reason why gbagyi are fragmented today is because they have been placed in 4 different states and are majority in none. Comparing that to creating a 100% igbo state that will be within other Igbo states, isn't the same. |

Okpotokpo: It Is the same procedure for creating Anioma state that is used for creating Etiti state. Contiguous LGAs polled together to form a state. Umunneochi might be in Abia state, but it shares borders with Okigwe in Imo and Aninri in Enugu the same way Aniocha shares borders with Ika and Oshimili |
Re: The 6th South East State: Etiti State by Okadall: 4:41pm On Mar 29, 2021 |
ThumbzTNA: Well This is Nigeria and logic don't work here The thing is, if that is the way forward, there are states in Nigeria with a large expanse of land mass having communities that are far from the reach and impact of the government ,we have example of some states in the northern part of the country, living Less than average, states like taraba, Niger, Borno. Now why not start from those states why is the Nigerian government suddenly very interested in the development of Igbos States? |
