Greetings to you!

After much considerations, inspections and bargaining, I finally got my first car - 2006 Honda Accord (Toks).

Initial desire was to get a Toks Honda CRV ( 2007 - 2010), but funds and the current economic realities of the country halted that. But here we are with a toks 06 Accord.

For old time car owners grin, what precautions do I have to take? What and what should I know and do to maintain the car well.

Stay tuned for refreshment details.

I concurrently use same car. This is my 4th accord and I can tell you it's a reliable car if well maintained. 1st of all. Only use original honda fluids for engine oil, transmission, and power steering. DONT PUT CHEAPER ALTERNATIVES.
Follow the honda users forum on Nairaland, and join whatsapp group (message 08054015264) to get added.
Keep a close eye at your instrument cluster and always take Check engine light serious by scanning for faults.

1. Always check your tyres.

2. Don't let over excitement make you drive to your village now.

3. Call your pastor to anoint the vehicle, your village people are not just the only one unhappy about this feat, Buhari is also unhappy that you're progressing.

Don't drink and drive Honda Accord. Congratulations!!!

Wow! 4th Accord?

Thanks for the advise.

What are the original fluids for Honda engine, transmission and power steering?

The dealer and mechanic recommended Mobil oil and abro power steering oil, which have were used for the first servicing. Hope those were right?

mobil oil and abro power steering oil is not recommended and will damage your car in the long run. this is why we have so many honda users complaining about steering issues. mechanics and dealers will advise you to use cheap alternatives that can work well with other cars, dont try it with honda o. Follow the car manual.

Really?

Do I need to remove the mobil and abro oil? They poured them into the engine just last week.

Good 08-10 toks were between 2.7 - 3.2m.

The Nigerian used cars (CRV and Accord) I inspected were not in great shape.

So, I opted for a toks Accord.

Contact luvinghubby for all your genuine Honda fluids, he has a good reputation spanning several years here. Avoid that mechanic who recommended Abro from now on, he's a cankerworm cool

Pay attention to your suspensions and you won't have any cause for worry but if you don't, that car will embarrass you on a one-way

CONGRATULATIONS.
people have given you advice please take them seriously particularly pertaining to the fluids.

transmission oil - Honda genuine dw1
engine oil - 5w20 or 30 .. synthetic will be the best but you can buy mineral as well if u desire
power steering oil - Honda genuine

please don't let mechanic remove thermostat ,for optimum engine operation and best fuel economy

disregard some advice that look scaring Honda Accord is pretty reliable .. if you want to change your ball joints ,buy original one u can order from Amazon ,eBay(though expensive but will last years) or buy used toks it is cheaper .. please don't buy Chinese new ones.

also give us pictures let us feed eyes.. pls cover ur number plate..

one question do you have water in your radiator or coolant?

Reading through these suggestions now i know honda is truely a useless ride compared to Toyota or golf(volks). So just to use a car u have to change oilf few months, look 4 a specific oil to use, scan any small light on the dash board etc. my Toyota have been showing that dashboard lights for years and still no issues, i use whatever oil i can find and it works just fine.

And op no one has even addressed the issue of that honda issue that it is known for lol u know that thing hehe I believe everyone knows what I'm talking about. Better don't drive far journey so your something don't pull off on the highway oo

Bro all cars have issues and people make compromise, you can also abuse Honda with inferior fluid and you Want have issue for... But the day it will finally park up... Your guess is as good as mine.

For you that is using any how oil on your Toyota, though the car have higher tolerance for abuse but trust... Everything has it limit

Ah! Sorry for the minor accident, pause on doing any body work on the car for now, hold on till towards the end of the year so that incase you happen to have any other minor body repairs you can have it all don at once.

Avoid working on any replaceable part (bumper, fender, bonnet etc) they are not too expensive to replace. Its cheaper to work on and may look good at first but over time it shows its ugliness.

Thanks man.

I am learning fast.

Just to confirm I still understand English, you're advising that I change the bumper and other parts completely (whenever I am ready) instead of working on them at the moment?
