It depends on the area and how many bedroom flat you need but let's go with two bedroom anyways

Jabi : 2 bedroom flat goes for 1.2m-2.5m per year

Transportation na pay as you use for Abuja...you don't pay it per annum like house rent, so don't ask about transportation for now because we don't know whether you too de waka cheesy

Any other place in Abuja? Please tell us your area of interest or your place of work/business in Abuja, then we can suggest areas within

What about Karu

Hmm.
Very costly ooo.
Rent is very costly,Abuja houses are overpriced.
Food is relatively cheap when you buy and cook but if you enter restaurant, wetin you see,you take.
Things like clothes, drugs, provisions etc are also costly.
Govt schools are nice,of good quality and almost free. But if you carry your pikin go private school,it is very costly.
Transport is relatively cheap and smooth.
Overall, if you are not a big time businesswoman or man and the job you're doing isn't a type you can collect bribes, don't come.
Which transport is cheap. From jabi to wise is 200 naira. Abj get transport? Abi u wan pack yourself like sardine for el rufai bus. Abuja na cab or taxify if you wan enjoy transport and na ur money kill am

If you live in the city, all the money you make will end in house rent.

More than 70% of Abuja workers live outskirts.

And what you use for one bed can get you a modern 2 bed and you will still have change.

You will not like Abuja city during weekend or night if you love hanging out with the boys.

Note, if you get married, it's cheaper to source for foodstuffs outside the city. Leave the city for politicians and their people. You will never meet up.
As a newbie here(relocated here just 2 weeks ago), I'd say his is the best advice so far.

Places like Bwari, Ushafa and other outskirts; one can easily get a comfortable self-con at 120k; mind you, transport fare to and fro the major city like jabi is just a little above ₦700

Like someone said, 70% of people working in Abuja stays in the outskirt, and guess what, these are people with money, mad cars and also work in big companies.

I choose to call them the money-smart one if you get my point.

Let me start with transportation... Transportation is very cheap in Abuja. Cheaper than both Lagos and Portharcourt.

Food is generally cheap in Abuja. You should not be surprised about this because Abuja is in the north and food is generally cheap in the whole of the north.

The biggest problem with living in Abuja is accommodation. Accommodation is very expensive in Abuja.

You mentioned Jabi. Let me remind you that Jabi is one of the districts in Abuja that are considered highbrow. One of the reasons is because these districts are close to the city centre. So, if you want to stay in Jabi, you must have a fat pocket.

Accommodation is cheaper in places like Kubwa or Lugbe (Airport road) which are not too close to the city centre.
Kubwa no cheap o, unless say na kubwa village.
Baba if you go FO1 for kubwa. Baba house way ppl built there ehh, Nigerians get money I swear, good road, street lights you go think say u dey maitaima

i don't think there is any city in Nig that has estates like Abj. Most of the houses are laying in waste cos ppl can't afford the prices. My estate has 5k units but lest that 45% of the houses are in use.
There's no estate in Abuja that has 5,000 units!
Maybe you meant 500.

The cost of living in Abuja is high especially If you don't own a house. The rent are mostly exorbitant except you want to stay in the remote areas which are usually characterized by bad roads and poor electricity supply.
I agree that houses in remote areas in Abuja are cheap, but they have constant electricity supply, where you use all your electrical appliances without fear of light unit running low. Disadvantages there is it is overpopulated, roads are not good especially during raining season. you can get one room of 80k in these villages.

I stayed about two years there. The rent is exorbitant while transportation relatively cheap. The road network is good so the only time you come across traffic is post work hours. I never realized the disadvantage to many here would pose a benefit in not coming across Nairalanders. If I never see your broke faces then I will remain grateful.

1-bedroom around Jabi, Utako, or Wuye, even Lifecamp will see you paying 1 million - 1.5 million.

Cost of transportation? It’s relative: if you’re relocating from Lagos you will find that Abuja is way cheaper plus no traffic jams. If you’re relocating from one of the sleepy cities in Nigeria, you will find Abuja expensive.

I made a similar topic and a similar move sometime last year. I’m still here and pushing it. Find and have a support system when you eventually come.

And know one fundamental truth sha: Even your mother might deny you in Abuja.
Life is sometimes brick by brick. I hope you didn't regret making the move

I certainly do not. However, there’s a constant mental pressure from Yahoo boys who reside in my estate. It’s a lifestyle here.

Doubt these ones were hungry before doing fraud. In Abuja, it’s the desire to look larger-than-lofe
