The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has elected a Ghanaian professor, Ato Essuman, its 20th chairman.

The election took place during the 69th meeting of Council held virtually from March 22-26.

A statement by the Head of Public Affairs, WAEC, Mr. Abiodun Adukoju, noted that Essuman takes over from Mr. Baboucarr Bouy from the Gambia for three years.

The top three performers out of 2,122,844 in the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) West African region were also honoured.

The trio, all from Ghana, included- Master Cecil Tetteh Kumah (first); Master Godfred Aseda Obeng (second); and Miss Afua Manukure Ansah.

Waec is overrated with special centers everywhere .

Waec in private schooi is a scam this daysl. we were taught in class during the exam. I had 7 A'...

Big international Schools do that so that outsiders can believe thier students are smart

You can only accuse your school of malpractice. Don't generalize such notion. Not all big schools are involved in exam malpractice. Be guided.

We understand there's bigotry, but don't let us take it to the extreme...Atto Essuman is a "Ghanaian" and a Professor... God bless us all.

But, on a life serious note, what shocked me most is that the overall best three students in WAEC are from Ghana... Wetin do our Nigerian students??

WAEC has integrity , it is school principals and owners that ruin its efforts and that’s why if the governing body of Waec hears of malpractice, they cancel the center result.
