Empower the youths and experienced farmers with the required machineries needed to move agriculture forward in this country... Only crude oil will not solve our problems ooco. my bro agriculture was the way forward but as live stock farmer, technological advancements are the way forward.
Technology cut across agriculture, science evolution, information, financial services and so on.
The world has moved beyond analog or manual way of doing business to technology

Too much grammar.

There is smelling corruption in the current Federal Govt.
There is too much diversion from priorities.
Govt is not truthful. They don't have political will to diversify.

In conclusion, Too much corruption is taking 3/5 of the total budget(both capital n recurrent). Politicians are also borrowing to feed their pockets.
Govt doesn't have political will to put policies that will generate money into work.

Every other thing is just part of the story.

Useless people, one or two of them can finance our debt and budget yet they kept repeating same theory for us every time ..you made the money but kept it in private pockets and all we hear is Nigeria debt is this increasing because of unfounded reasons.. God will judge all of you

People shout agriculture as if planting rice and beans and cassava holds the magic to success. No! Economic success lies in addition values to any goods. It is only when values throu refining are added that wealth is created.
Courses such as food science and technology, nutrition science, storage engineering,
,etc should be encouraged qualitatively. We are still sleeping as a People. So sad.

Nope, actually during early independence we had some of the best and most incorruptible leaders in Africa, Highly educated too. Till the military & thier dunder heads decided to do coup, screw everything up & kill them all. In all seriousness, d military usher in the era of corruption in Nigeria

Buhari has allowed Adeshina's cassava impact under PDP lose momentum and is now promoting rice just to look competent than his predecessor. Under Adeshina, excess cassava was used to make flour for bread. Even the rice they are chasing isn't there as they claim.

Our 1960 leaders were equally corrupt and inefficient. There was nothing amazing about their style of governance.
They couldn't even agree on how to move the country foward.
Just 3 years into independence, the country was already embedded in crisis.
Funny, in our anthem, we sing, the labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain. But as a country do we even have heros? Definitely not among our leaders and politicians past and present.
We give praise to men who failed their country.
Soon after the British left, nepotism, tribalism and corruption took over.
Our 1960 leaders build that evil foundation that is affecting us till today

You know. At that time every region is governed separately, they concentrate on thier own resource. No useless high number of politicians or unnecessary large number of state, There was only Northern region, mid west, Eastern & southern region. Imagine if we had kept that system. But instead we went ahead to create the most expensive legislature in the world, unusually high number of states with governors and house of assembles etc and went ahead to centralised the whole government in Abuja.
Did u know in the past, over 90% of Nigerians pay taxes....yes even those in the villages, village heads collect & remit to to the government. The number of people in ur household determines how much high u pay.

Bros u ain't the only one woh, I assure you, if u look at documentaries of Nigeria from the past. Wallahi u go shed tears.. We have seriously regressed!. Nothing improved except our POPULATION.

Well, at least the millennials in Nigeria are starting to think we are overpopulated & don't see birthing endless children as their sole purpose in Nigeria

Nigeria resources is wasting both human and natural resources, due to lack of exploitation, innovation, extraction, exhibition,Nigeria depends solely on oil that just discover in olobiri in 1958 and forget the formal means of survival on before oil, agriculture is the bedrock of economy a nation,e g Nigeria.

Not just the overhaul of the NNPC that is inevitable revolution and bloodshed is inevitable the way things are going.I can't understand for one second why a country with so much arable lands across the federation would be so poor. Despite the little things we produce agriculturally, we do not add any value to them only sell them as raw as they are to the outside world.

We are confused as people and seems not to know what we are doing. Luckily for us, poverty, insecurity, diseases and just name it will reset our brains.

We have taken greed and foolish to the highest level anywhere in the world. Corruption has been culturalized and all other form of social vices have been culturalized as well due to our actions and inactions. How can Japan and Germany with almost nothings be the third and fourth largest economy and their population combined is not even up to ours.

For those still dreaming Nigeria will be better I feel so sorry for you. Until we all decide we want to have a good country, if not this is how we will continue. Stop troubling God to make Nigeria better, he has given us the brains we only need to use it. In Germany and Japan they don't shout God the way we do and they are that rich. China does not even believe in anything. How come the people that shout God for everything are so poor? The simple answer is hypocrisy, we are only looking for miracles from God and not put in the hard work required to be successful, the evil doers of our society have seats at the fore front of the mosques and churches across the country and the average Nigerians himself is against all what God wants. God is not an hypocrite either you worship him or not, believe in him or not; he will bless you if he wants but you have to do the right things.

But my friends, Abayomi and Olusola from the SW have been telling me that income from Lagos seaports is what keeps Nigeria running, not income from crude oil in the Niger Delta?
And that is why it’s imperative to build standard gauge rail lines between the SW and the north and even to Niger republic, none in the Niger Delta region where oil money comes to Nigeria from.

I always disagree whenever I see people pointing to agriculture as solution to Nigerians economic problems.
Did you know that more than 1 out of every 3 employed Nigerians is in the agricultural sector? That is already too much.
Did you know that both this administration and the last spent billions in rice cultivation yet we remain rice dependent and the cost of rice keeps going up?
Also not a single developed country has agriculture as the main stay of its economy.
What we need is less corruption, a free market economy and an economy that isn't dependent on a single sector..
We need agriculture, oil, mining, manufacturing, high tech and the service sector.
Let's stop making the same mistake by thinking that government should invest or empower anybody. Instead let us encourage a free market. Let people, private citizens and businesses invest.
Let's make it easier for competition and growth.
Let government stop wasting our money in the name of giving loans to farmers.we waste billions each year doing that.
Let government instead tackle corruption and the ease of doing business and infrastructure. Then they can leave agriculture and other businesses to investors.
well said.

Takeaways
1. Oil subsidy must go

2. NNPC must be better run

3. Tax base must be widened. ( 30% of the population pays tax)

Empower the youths and experienced farmers with the required machineries needed to move agriculture forward in this country... Only crude oil will not solve our problems ooo. Agriculture is the way forward.... some countries can not boast to have the resources we are blessed with yet they are far richer than us. It's only in Nigeria u will extract the crude oil as byproduct and sell it out to be refined when we have 3 refineries that can be repaired but because of greed they left the refineries at bad state and exporting the crude oil, buying the refined products back as high cost and making life difficult for the masses.. This is not fair at all. If there is no gain at something, u will never find a Nigerian there..... Which makes me think that some people are gaining from the suffering of the masses... I pray nemesis will catch up on them soonest

Agriculture is not the way forward...
There’s NO advanced nation that is primarily agricultural-based.

We need real DIVERSIFICATION - oil, gas, petrochemicals, agriculture, creative industry, ICT, technology, financial intermediation, services, real estate, construction, manufacturing, education, research and development, biotechnology, mining, solid minerals, retail, etc., etc.

But we have to start with HUMAN CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT...
Human capital are the most valuable resources of every developed nation and economy.

these countries u mentioned may not be majorly agricultural based but they make sure that all their agriculture are available for everyone at cheaper rate... Food is the least of their worries in those countries u mentioned can we say that for naija.... With 2k man can hardly eat three square meal satisfactorily.... Why can't we turn our raw agricultural products into finished goods that can be exported to advance countries to generate revenue... Though I support ur saying... But for this country to move forward together with everyone, agriculture must be taken serious.
