The truth is whichever level you find yourself you will survive one way or the other. When I was earning N30,000 not too long ago I was surviving. I was a single parent with one daughter but we were managing somehow. I had neighbors who had wives and up to three kids earning the same salary and they were coping too. With that salary your desires are instinctively put in check. I didn't have a television, DVD player, home theater and so many furniture and I didn't bother. It didn't even cross my mind that I needed them because the money no even dey to buy them even if I wanted. I didn't have deep freezer or fridge or even gas burners. I just made do with basic cooking utensils and kept my mattress on the floor.

It was when my salary began to increase that I began to buy other items. Just take life jeje and everything will fall in place.

Chai..... this country sef... 30k... make I nor lie e nor easy oh.... human beings nor value humans at all... zero value...

Even for a single person/bachelor, it is still not easy.

30k will still not take you home as a bachelor.

When I say salary earners, I mean those earning 50k, 40k, 30k, 25k and some even 25k to 10k. Not you that's bagging 100k and above, you be oil worker jor.

So, I see most families where the man being the head of the family, is a private school teacher. Of course we all know how much they are payed nothing. Same with most company or factory casual workers. How do you guys manage to cope with family at this crucial time?

It's not like I'm earning big or own any business, but one good job in month will cover me for some times. Since I'm not married yet, it just myself and my aged mum that I think of.


So how do you manage your 30k that it will last you for a month, Assuming your extra teaching after school will cover your transportation to and from working place?

My mother was paid 6,000 naira for February salary (instead of March) here in lokoja.

I am currently teaching in a private school just to get busy prior to NYSC. The teacher's average salary in N25,000 but I was able to compel the school's admin to increase mine to N30,000. Everyday I wonder how teachers cope. Over 60% of the teachers are over 35 years and married. With the way the male teachers put on ironed long sleeve and tie, you will think they are rich. There is one old teacher who only eats crackers biscuit as lunch because that's what he can afford, while some don't even eat lunch. Some teachers have been working in the school for over 6 years and their salary still remains the same. God punish poverty!

If you're very good with web design, (not WordPress, HTML and CSS), then check out Turing, Google it. Also, there's Fiverr, seoclerks, LinkedIn, upowork, etc. Open a US account (Google or search the forum on how to do that, I don't know how's been done) to get jobs.

sincerely, the pay is peanut but it takes only the grace of God in sustaining us as sometimes I believe God touch the heart of few friends (2) who on their own accord sends 2-3k ones in a month or two...

the economic situation in Nigeria is something else, My babe came over to my house this Easter to spend time with me, I gave her 20k to arrange something wey we go chaw this Easter, She bought live chicken 5.5k, the rest 14.5k wetin she use am buy no even full one bag. if no be say me dey go market sometimes, they see how expensive things are, I for say she run me street.

A 30k Salary Job is way too small for a Single or Married person to cope with, unless you re living with ur Parents..
because u have Security, Light, Gotv, Sanitation bills to pay..+School fees, Children clothes, Food,etc as a married person..
For Bankers or Company workers, Since u guys close late,7pm to 9pm..
I always advise Dem to save, buy an asset(E.g Motorcycle, Wheel barrow, Caravan,etc) and start hiring and get some daily profits..
For Private School teachers, you close @least early enough and don't go to work on Saturdays n Sundays..
You can do other things like selling snacks, Groundnuts, etc..
I know of some private schools who also do painting, fixing of tiles, fixing of DStv/Gotv Dishes at dier spare tym..

Which government are talking about? Same government that has refused vehemently to sign 50k as minimum wage. Yet they buy luxury cars to gift their co thieves in power always, probably after a huge looting.
