That's no news. Most aircraft could operate above 700 m/s. Speed of sound is just 343 m/s.

The last built plane was ordered by Reagan but put into use by Senior Bush. Obama ordered two new ones to be built in his second term (because there is no replacement part for the old jets since Boeing has stopped it's production) which would be delivered in 2024.

See presidents putting country first even when such would not be used in their tenure.

The Chinese were given licence to reproduce the AL-31F and AL-25T engines used in the Russian Sukhoi jets. Whether, the Chinese went beyond that scope and began directly copying it, is a matter for another day. Afterall, the Chinese also produce WS-9 engines under licence from Rolls Royce and they are also accused of copying beyond scope.

With regards to the S500, it is still in final phases of development. Hence issue of who or not to sell it to is not valid yet. Also note that no country sells the exact same specs of arms that they use internally to others. Whatever will be sold to the Chinese or any other buyer will be heavily modified.
