Good day beautiful people
I just graduated from one of the federal polytechnic in the country. pls I want to know hw viable is AutoCAD design for building plans because I plan to venture into it. ur opinions will be highly appreciated

You venture into designs as a whole

Not just autocad

For drafting it's useful for building designs & engineering works. But archicad is better for realistic building design.

those are just modeling tools, will u design a working drawing with achichad?

What I can say is it is very good. I work in a company that does solely autocad design

YESKE! I prepare working drawings with archicad accurately.
AutoCAD for all engineering works & draft men.

People think archicad is just for modeling presentation & animations,but beneath lies construction ability and technics of some complicated architectural designs.
It depends on someone's IQ in applying these softwares to the fullest.

get back to me when you detail with achicad until then AutoCAD still remains number 1. Can u do mechanical and electrical designs with achicad? I mean submission drawings to town planning? Can u do steel design with your achicad. All those softwares are nothing but modeling automaed tools and i can't trust a computer to do my design accurately. AutoCAD isn't for amateurs, if u can't draw with a traditional paper and pencil then AutoCAD is not for u.

For details,a user can input parameters in archicad using line & numbers ....the output depends on your input. Same as AutoCAD.
Mec & elect Yes
Steel trusses Yes
Archicad is for experienced AutoCAD users. pls relate.
Also archicad is not for mediocres.

hmmmm as a civil engineer i never really looked the achicad angle as the name reads "achi" always thought its for architects. My brother i wil stickto AutoCAD for now maybe later i just may try it out

OK. You're right,I'm talking from architectural side of the content.

Autocad have a 3d version too
I have autocad and autocad civil 3d
