And who did the release? Is it ipob or ESN? All we know is that they are unknown gunmen...even the government didn't give them label so what are you saying ? and they have even come out to say they didnt do it..
Can we also refer to Bokoharam has unknown gunmen
Who did they release Cultists, Rapist's, Murderers, Kidnappers. But since they are not members of Ipob or ESN it's ok undecided
Since they are unknown gunmen, I see no reason the Military shouldn't go in with full force and deal with.

Boko have been label by the government and all but what is happening in the se is still done by unknown gunmen even the government is careful not to give it a label yet and people are here mastubating and shouting ipob and ESN...Can you say for a fact with beyond reasonable doubt proof that they are done by ESN and ipob?

Nobody is saying the military should not go in but from their past history they do end up shooting armless and innocent people at the end of the day...

Is there any group capable of carrying out such attack at once in South East If South East Governor's are afraid to label Ipob/ESN has the unknown gunmen because of political reasons, the people shouldn't.
Since they are unknown gunmen, anybody could be the gunmen abi. So everybody is a suspect.

Anyone here wish war in an environment where they have loved ones? because i don't. So there's nothing sweet about war and violence. This isn't a movie. At the end of the day the losers will be the people, no one else

The military is simply an instrument of extreme violence to bring about the fundamental objectives of the government where all other tools of persuasion fails. Let no one make any mistake the Nigerian Armed Forces is fully capable of meeting all envisaged threats in the interim not only home but in the region. It can fight with effect on multiple fronts. It is heavily armed for contemporary threats and arming for future wars and nothing in the immediate neighborhood comes even close. Provoking the military now is completely unnecessary and yes the non-combatants pay the heavy price.

The leaders in the region should act quickly. Violence does not pay and even more foolish against the Nigerian Army. This is not Libya or Sudan or your average African country. ESN or whatever they are called don't come close to ISWAP which is the only known existential threat to Nigeria something that is no longer the case and that's because of the exploits of our Army.

I advise major Posters to stop sharing Intel on this Thread for now. Though Intention is to bring good News to the Masses that Military Architecture are on top of Situations, and as well boosting Confidence in the Military Operations, but seems It's exposing uniformed Men to Harms than Arms.

Gunmen? Everyone knows who the Gunmen are, but let's act Ignorant that we don't know. Question we should ask ourselves is; do we really need to drop Bodies, destroy Properties to get our Voices heard or Agitations successful?

So called Gunmen are being celebrated on Social Media. They are being celebrated mostly by People who are NOT residing in the East, some are even not in Nigeria. They are calling them Freedom Fighters, hailing their Brutalities and so on.

Funnily, I can't believe few of major Protesters said DSS, Military and Co should have repelled the Attack? Are DSS Personnel trained to repel Attack? Are they trained to engage in Gun duel? Well they failed to gather intelligence, because they didn't see the Attack coming, but there Responsibility is not repelling the Attack, especially leaving their Beat(s).

Military? Yes Military Men are trained to engage and repelling, but how many Military Personnel are at Barack during the Attack? Secondly Military Men are not Gunmen they are Professionals. You can't expect them to carry Arms, jump out and start shooting.

Do they have Clues who Attackers are? kinds of Arms and Ammunitions they carry with them? We shouldn't let Emotions, Bigotry becloud our good sense of Judgement.

I still don't understand how one man seating comfortable in London, is busy praying for war between his people and Government undecided
They should visit Borno to see what people are going through and ask themselves if this what they real want.
That man Kanu is the greatest coward feeding off people's ignorance. He is jobless in London and collecting free money by propaganda. He is not hard to take out but like I said he must have been compromised or a foreign intelligence agency is on to him. Either way he or ESN is not really a problem just a nuisance. They have to show us something we don't already know else the Borno wastelands is really the priority right now. The madness there is unequaled in history.

CAS IN MAIDUGURI, CHARGES TROOPS TO REMAIN RESOLUTE AND UNDETERRED

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, has stated that the events of the past few days involving the unfortunate crash of an Alpha-Jet aircraft should inspire and spur Nigerian Air Force (NAF) pilots, technicians and ground troops to remain resolute, unrelenting and undeterred in the fight against insurgency in the North East and other parts of the country. He stated this while on another visit to the Air Component of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Maiduguri and after receiving a brief from the Air Component Commander, Air Commodore Nnamdi Ananaba, on the ongoing collaborative efforts with the Nigerian Army (NA) to locate the actual site of the Alpha Jet crash. According to the CAS, “despite the sad events of the past few days, now more than ever before is the time that the NAF must show strength, determination and remain undeterred and unrelenting until the entire North East is rid of terrorists and other criminal elements”. Air Marshal Amao noted that, while a lot has been achieved towards degrading the capacity and capability of the insurgents, much more is needed to be done to achieve the desired level of peace and security in the Region. According to him, “We must continue to work assiduously, in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies, to ensure that peace and security of lives and property are achieved”.

On the issue of the crashed NAF Alpha-Jet aircraft, which was declared missing on 31 March 2021 after losing radar contact, the CAS stated that the videos being circulated on social media alluding that the aircraft was shot down were false. According to him, 'from critical analysis of all available intelligence, it was obvious that the air accident was caused by other factors soon to be unraveled.' He went further to state that efforts were still on, in collaboration with the NA and other security agencies to find the crashed aircraft as well as the 2 pilots so as to bring the matter to closure.

Air Marshal Amao assured the troops of his support to them as they intensify efforts towards ensuring that the fight against insurgency comes to an end in no distant time. He further reassured them that the entire Nation is behind them and supportive of their efforts hence the need for all to remain focused. The CAS also used the occasion of the visit to thank the President and Commander-in-Chief of the AFN, President Muhammadu Buhari, for his encouragement and unrelenting support to the NAF.

The visit coincided with the Easter celebration where the CAS dined and interacted with the troops while also commending them for their efforts towards projecting air power as well as providing close air support to ground troops in the fight against insurgency. Air Marshal Amao was accompanied on the visit by the Chiefs of Training & Operations, Aircraft Engineering and Logistics as well as some retired senior NAF officers. The Theatre Commander Operation LAFIYA DOLE, Major General Farouk Yahaya, was also on hand to update the CAS on the activities of the entire North East Theatre.

There are very much capable, don't be deceived.
Don't forget Nigeria intervention, and possible inversion of Gambia, that's to tell you Nigerian military capabilities in multiple fronts.

Unsurprisingly I see two camps here arguing for or against the "gunmen" in the south east, mostly the Igbo's for (not all) and other people against. There are good reasons for the agitation but the way they are going about it is wrong. If what is happening right now should spiral out of control (God forbid), I pity the people in the south east. There's no assurance that they will be able to achieve what they want but one thing is surely constant in wars, that place will be laid waste and lives will be lost. How do you rebuild? Even on this faceless forum, we are at each others neck, let's calm down for a minute and try to proffer peaceful solutions. Those in support of the deployment of the army and those supporting the activities of the gunmen are in the comfort of their homes with a phone or laptop stoking the embers of war but will be the first to run to the border as refugees (dem no want fight but dey push other people to go die). Finally, an eye for an eye makes everyone blind.

We seem not to learn in this country. Which internal conflict have we won purely on military force?

So ISWAP's "great attack" will most likely happen during Ramadan or just days to it. The group has been silent for almost half a month now. I only hope the military has not been idle so far.
