Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has said insecurity will be minimal if parents become more responsible in the upbringing of their children.

He said while the government would strive to make the society better, parents must nurture their children to become good citizens.

A statement by Wike’s Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri, said the governor spoke at the solemnisation of holy matrimony between Pearl Ile and Bobby Elechi, at St Peter Anglican Church, Rumuepirikom Deanery, Port Harcourt. The governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Emeka Woke, said he attended the wedding because the couple had distinguished themselves as responsible citizens.

He said: “We believe that if parents are responsible in the upbringing of their children, the society will be responsible, and the responsibility of the government to tackle insecurity will be minimal.”

Wike advised the couple to practise the teachings of the church. He described the groom’s father, Sir Mike Elechi, as a dependable, reliable and staunch political ally, who had always supported his political career.

It's easy for you to say because you have all the money from the wells of Nigerias wealth to enable you shape your childrens future to a large extent.

How can a parent be effectively responsible when you guys at the top refuse to let the wealth flow down to every citizen?

How can you expect a sane society when you refused to empower them financially by providing good jobs and an enabling ground for the children.

All you know is fly your children abroad for quality Education and frustrate the lives of the citizens with ASUU strike. At the end of the day, they manage to graduate at an old age, by what time your wards who schooled abroad have come out and taken all the juicy positions in the labour market with none left for the common man to occupy. And you expect them not to turn into bad eggs and make you and your children their target?

It's has always been said that the poor man you refuse to help or bring up the ladder today, may turn out to be your worst nightmare tomorrow. Now it's happening and you're beginning to wail.

A stitch in time saves nine.

Part of it, yes.

I heard he's owing Salaries too. I HEARD!! and yet, he was giving 10 million naira gift to artistes and land and money to Burna.

If that is true, then he needs check himself too.

Owing people salaries and depriving them of provisions can lure them to crime. And that's part of the problem too sir.

.......

By the way, please check my signature. It's about my business. Please!! Thanks

The truth is if the children of Nyesom Wike and Rotimi Amaechi follow in the footsteps of their 'vayolence' in pursuit of power, Rivers State would be another Hiroshima in future.

Talk is cheap. Introspection is important.

True..

But but what about the ones you politicians sponsor during your ‘do or die’ elections, And then leave them with the weapons you bought and sponsored them with What do you think will happen next with those weapons at their disposal?

He is very right

I wonder who raised most of this Ipobian kids, on all social media, they fight and curse anyone with different opinions, even babarains and cave men don't behave in such manner

Almajiri kids are all ready destined to be rascals, while Ipobians have little home training, Almajiri lack both proper home or any training

We will only get it right when leaders become bold to say the truth.

In as much as what Wike said is true he should be bold to tell the North to do birth control and marry one wife. While down south children control and proper record keeping be instituted.

Wike is also a parent I hope he has full record of his children's daily activities?

Say No To Almajeri

Almajeries are the most vulnerable and soft target for bandits recruitment.

Wike is the leading cause of Insecurity in rivers state

Yes parental irresponsibility is a part of the problem but despite these under Medford okilo we had peace, under Amaechi we had peace but Under Wike I remember vividly as touts, rascals, scaliwags, hoodlums were jubilant and rejoiced upon his acendency to the throne of Emperor of Rivers state, he lied to them that they would guard government House when he wins, so they supported him astutely but after winning he only settled their Oga's and the money didn't trickle down and these boys were vexed and set cause trouble.

He paid the leaders of some criminals millions as in those criminals earn more than Judges.

Why j blame Wike is because under Amaechi he went after all of them big or small, they had no room, in UST (Rivers state university of science and technology) cultists were limited as in the VC Amaechi appointed was taxed with dealing with them so they calmed down seriously and also no strike Affected universities in Rivers state till Amaechi left office.

Immediately he left Wike dismantled every thing he did, state scholarship board, Timariv, monorail, Teachers and health care workers he employed, students he sent abroad on scholarship and many others

The students plea to Wike to allow them finish their programs many if them where final year med students the news was on Nairaland it fell on deaf ears.

Wike himself has threatened governor of cross River, traditional rulers, ministers, even his PDP chairman, his commissioners etc he has threatened to attack them and deal with them

His body language, gesture, utterances are by no means that of a peaceful person at all, at all, lie, lie.

The ones that were nurtured, did they see jobs?..

Passing the bulk to parents as reason for insecurity when you have 33% unemployment is stupidity.
