Thank God he's appointing northerners as security chiefs cos if he'd been appointing southerners the northerners would have said saying they are killing their people...so let him appoint them to finish themselves...but i don't know why anything north is chaotic...

Do you know even if a southerner was the closest in rank to the former IGP this government would have found a way to manipulate the process and retire him so that a northerner will be appointed ?

The convention has been that a candidate for IGP would have 4 years of service minimum remaining. That's why they are usually AIGs. Then the officers who are senior to him would be retired in a swoop.
But the convention was swept aside sharp sharp, because it would negatively impact one of theirs.
They can't make a law and abide by it.
