UGBE634:But you understand that such listing is arbitrary, right ? Anyway, I appreciated your conversation. It is hard to come across normal human beings on nairaland. |

pinkygurl:Hanty it’s alright. Nobody is dragging King of your ancestral land or king of your fatherland with you. Everybody is OLU & KING & PERE & OVIE of his own ancestral father resources. As far as the federal law doesn’t grant anybody the power to rule over other people’s land of heritage .Hanty it’s alright let everybody bear any title they want |

Truthshots2:guy such listings can't be arbitrary man!I mean look at their names, have you heard an itsekiri man before they sound every way like those riverine yorubas like ilaje and ijebus,it can't be arbitrary man! igala that is even somehow distant, I heard someone spoke to her mother on phone it sounded everything like yoruba. when you say a group is "oid" it means it is close to or related to linguistically, the largest or the most dominant language is usually selected hence the term yoruboid. it is not arbitrary at least not the ones I have seen. that urhobos and esans were classified as edoid made me know already that such couldn't have been arbitrary man. they took their time. I as an Edo man can interpret 8 out of every ten esan names. I can interpret 6 out of every ten urhobo names,we share similar cultures, the kings title are basically the same, ovie/ogie/ojie save for the v,g,and,j modifications overtime and you dare call it arbitrary, that's so not true man. language is a major determiner of relationships ancestrally and the jekri are certainly a riverine yoruboid group. Heck, the urhobos call God oghene, to the north of Benin our cousins call it oghena that is the etsako people heck we the edos call the king of ife the oghene of uhe in our native tongue, this is only a pointer to the fact that the word oghene is an ancient edoid word for God that was used by the edos before migrations southward and north. there might have been modifications overtime as a result of mingling with their neighbours but the overall structure is certainly still the same. the take here is they sound more like yorubas than any other group |

UGBE634:What proof of that do you have ? Look, I am not in the business of discussing fairytales and legends. I told you that "linguistic list" is arbitrary. The people who keep using it are not linguists and do not understand linguistics. You just all seem to believe you can debate what you know nothing about. And Google is not a linguist. But first this your oghene, prove me what you said about that word. I think I mistook you for a rational thinker. But when you started with the word oghene which I know for a fact that you took from the internet, that exposed you as an other person trained by Google. For your info oghene is a mythical name created by European crusaders who were in search of a mythical Christian king. It was first spelled Ogvene. |

of course we don't have any word for Oni of Ife, we also don't have any word for chief imam of Sokoto. Ife was an irrelevant village untill the British started transforming it in 1912. Benin was an empire, and please stop claiming to be Edo. If your only argument is "I'm Edo" then you have no argument. You guys hide your total ignorance of history and facts with your claims of ethnic affiliation. You really need to learn how to think. |

Truthshots2:uhe is like a birth canal and we see Ife as a spiritual house, a virgin source, the priest known as ooni today was known as the oghene because Ife was seen as a spiritual house. oghene is an Edo word I have nothing to gain from this argument with you I am not a baby that will go on spilling what is not here and there to what end. Go and read I remain sir your humble servant by the late Oba of Benin oba eredieuwa goodbye |

UGBE634:Origins of the word oghene: https://www.raremaps.com/category/Maps/Africa/West_Africa The word comes from this fictional map it was spelled Orgvne. You know nothing at all, stop disguising your lack of education with nonsensical statements and quoting of trash you read online. Ife has never been sacred to any Edo person. I am starting to doubt your claims of being Edo, by the way, I am Edo. You clearly lack a sense of history. As I already told you, Ife was an irrelevant village which only got built by the British as from 1912.

Truthshots2:it's not about providing proofs.. he has no authority over urhobo and ijaw lands in Warri... itself is can't rally around Igbudu, Agbassa, Okere road axis, Ogunu, Okumagba layout and so on during the Olu's coronation anniversary... go and ask. |

Truthshots2:Go and read that book. The oba only died recently. It will cure your ignorance, the Europeans only wrote down what they were told by the oba of Benin who told them that he came from ife and that's country is tied to it spiritually go and ask your father what was the Edo name for the ooni of Ife he would tell you if you are one. the argument that Ife was a village until 1912 is not in doubt as she did not evolve into a proper kingdom. see you can't be more Edo than me go and check my past threads and arguement you can't be more Edo than me you are young, you don't have deep knowledge of the Edo language and you are sincerely ignorant. a simple Google search will help you the late Oba of Benin granted so many interviews in his lifetime educate yourself man |

UGBE634:1) Why do you keep arguing after you have already been proven wrong ? Look stop claiming to be Edo, you are clearly not Edo. I guess you think it makes your arguments more credible. 2) As I have told you already, the map is fictional, it was made by crusaders looking for a mythical Christian king. The names on the map do not match those on previously made maps nor on later made maps of that same era. The fictional name of the mythical king is "prester John" https://www.raremaps.com/category/Maps/Africa/West_Africa 3) you have no argument

UGBE634:If Oghene is an edo or Benin world,l completely agree with you. The isokos call AlmightyGod- ‘Oghene’ although the g is silent in isoko language. The urhobos call Almighty God same ‘OGHENE’ although h is silent in urhobo language. I am isoko from A town called “Enhwe” close to IGBIDE ISOKO SOUTH. The people from enhwe speak a deep variant of Isoko and can understand urhobos more than other isokos variant. My great grandfather an enhwe man is said to originate from EDO. And my great great grandfather is Erhabor an edo/Benin man. Most isokos in enhwe town came from edo during a Great War . That’s the history of my people- ENHWE IN ISOKO SOUTH. So your own history sounds correct |

These clowns. Edo state was created in the 1990's. Alternate history all over. This is all due to the fact history is very badly thought in Nigeria. |

Truthshots2:There was an old benin empire . It was formed around 11th century AD. Annexed by british empire 1897.Ruins of the old kingdom can still be traced today Delta state was created in 1991. |

Truthshotcrazy:Google kid. This is news for you, not for me. By the way nobody knows when Benin empire was created but we know it dates earlier than the 12th century. You clearly said "Edo-state" which by the way is only a part of Benin empire, Delta state and Lagos are other parts of Benin empire. These are pieces of land which were named Edo-State and Delta-state in 1991. Google kids, know your places. You don't even know what an Edo is. Children, you should go to school where someone like me will teach you. |

Truthshots2:No where did l mention edo ‘state’. But l said Edo. Kingdom of Benin ,Edo was around 1180-1897. & the present city bear its ancient ruins & rich history. You and your google cannot rewrite my history as an isoko man. The history of my people Enhwe in isoko south ,handed over to me by my father from his own father. I am a descendant of an edo man “Erhabor” . 90% of people in isoko south village Enhwe including the royal king family of EnHwe in isoko south, came from Edo the ancient kingdom during a Great War & settled in Enhwe. That is the history of my people. |

I just don't get it, you guys are so deluded that you keep arguing after you are proven to be wrong. You keep posting things you freshly got from Google as if it makes you professors. Education is not about typing on Google. But since the age of the internet, you uneducated people think access to Google can simulate intelligence for you. |
