On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, in another show of restlessness, defiance to the rule of law and victimization, Excos of the Residents Association attempted to lockout construction vehicles of a developer from gaining entry into the estate thereby inflicting pains on other road users who could neither move in nor out of the estate.

This reckless display of power culminated into hours of unwarranted traffic congestion on the ever busy Osborne – Alfred Rewane Road, Ikoyi thereby forcing the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) attached to Dolphin Estate Division to intervene and issue strong warnings against any further act of oppression by the Residents Association towards Developers in the estate for the umpteenth time.

Disappointed at their failed attempt to completely lock out the developer, they marched in large numbers to the developer’s project site inside the estate accompanied by thugs to attack contractors and insisting everyone must leave.

Seeing that this show of unruliness has been displayed one time too many, one begins to wonder what the crux of this personal vendetta will be and what its sponsors seek to gain by constantly disregarding the rule of law, showing contempt to the state government and continually throwing caution to the wind – guess only OSFRA’s Chairperson Mrs. Chinwe Ezenwa-Mbah will know the answer to that.

Osborne residents should find a way to sort all this unnecessary traffic along that side. You can't be inflicting pain on other road users.

These barbaric acts ought to be punished squarely. The civic rights of citizens ought to be respected. This is injustice. Violence should not be the best way to resolve conflicts. Proper dialogue is. This must stop!!!

If you want to develop in an estate you must obey their laws and respect their rules. Those people you see in that estate are the people that have managed the estate for decades and built it up to the current level.

One man can not just come and flout all the rules and throw away what all these residents have toiled for years. Have you forgotten how the same Lekki Gardens built substandard houses that collapse and killed close to 30 people in Lekki Phase 1?
