Power is number one problem. Most annoying they would bring one yeye light that would crash your system and you can't even sue them. ....

power will become your problem if you want. when i was learning i made friend with a cyber cafe guy. that's where i spend my day. i go there in the morning, come back 10pm. you can make friends with bet shop guys are cyber cafe guys. just to get constant light.

ops!! you actually hit the nail on its head.
Its just that the kind of environment we young developers find ourselves and the kind of mindset that also surrounds us is also a major factor.
but we are really trying and we just need to be consistent and do more to actualize our aims and objectives.....

I'm a pro in C and C# though c#'s new features are making my skills a bit outdated, and I hate MVC like die, I'm well versed in C++, html, css and javascript plus bootstrap too, I fucking love bootstrap like die, before the laptop I was using got taken by the owner I was messing with operating system development and was working on a small compiler (llvm was going to do the dirty job of assembly code translation)

Everything you wrote here is why you don't have money for a laptop yet, Jack of all trades! What's your niche?

Do you consider the time you waste shuttling down there. What we are saying is that Power should be available in Nigeria 24/7 what is the big deal about that really.

learning programming to escape being broke in africa isn't really wise, you can't use a system that somehow works abroad and think it would work over here, probably get a job, offer car washing services or any legit hustle you can find your hands doing.........the problem is that most people see the tech guys and their fat salaries, posh cars and lifestyle and want to live the life, it's not necessarily a passion for coding that's driving them but the lifestyle behind the profession, the issue is that some of this tech guys you look up to came from well to do middle class families and they got their first computer at 12 and internet was available to them 24/7................but you that is still having a hard time affording a laptop of 30k wants to compete with those guys...lol you better go and start car wash business....1,5k per car for body wash, wash 20 cars a week and that's 30k a week, minimum of 90k a month, go to banks, offices and business places and offer the service, save up and make it a standard car wash.

I started coding at 24 years. I got my first job after 5 months in Nigeria here with an apartment in VGC. I have less than a year of professional experience and I earn very well. Before I became a programmer I was a mechanic/auto parts trader and I could be making max of 50k in a month with 500k to 700k in revenue when all is settled. I was always broke, dirty, smelly and frustrated.

Op you forgot to add data and internet connection....without data you can't even stream your online courses and the internet speed is very slow, just to create a react app takes me almost 30mins sometimes.
switch to Linux, possibly ubuntu or Linux mint

Its no luck. I applied to over 500 jobs to get my first job. Most people dont even apply to jobs. Another thing is what a lot of people are learning is not profitable. There are some tech skills you can acquire today that can give you earnings of 7 naira figures in six to eight months but you hardly see Nigerians there. Most people here have a herd mentality.

wow 500 jobs shocked shocked shocked hmmm, i agree totally with what you're saying but it's still to note that you had a job(auto parts) before going into programming, most people are still having a hard time getting a laptop to even start with.... all am saying is get something that can help you survive while you learn programming.

You can also share with others what those skills are?.....but the issue i think is about demand and supply, once people get to know, the herd mentality kicks in again.

At all, I have already shared on Nairaland here. The thing is those skills are kinda hard to pick up as there's no videos tutorials to follow and code along so most people without discipline can never pick them up ever.

Na so one guy dey boast for my area, I gave him a small homework on extending classes and overriding methods in JS. He failed woefully. Bros calm down ooo

Let me give you an homework also.

function closureCheck() {
let iter = 0;
return function() {
let arr = [ ]
for (let i = 0; i < 5; i++) {
iter += 1
arr.push( function() {
console.log(iter)
} )
}
return arr

let closureChecker = closureCheck();

//Why do you get same value if you change variable, i.e. use 1, 2 or 3?
let variable = 1;
//let variable = 2;
//let variable = 3;

closureChecker()[variable]();

Hint: Look at the name of the function.

U are even too young. I have seen programmers who started at 40 & are really good at it. The Number 1 problem is Nigeria is a shithole for tech newbies. It kills dreams.

Bro I'm concerned that you declare a function name with let.

Anyway, post the code on carbon.now.sh and post either the link or the picture here, let's analyze.

This is why Nigerians don’t progress,they wanna use lil knowledge to showoff.
If this rubbish u posted doesn’t solve a problem then it’s rubbish. This isn’t how to learn or progress.
What project have u done ? I mean real world project and not some silly Todo list bullshit

Determination to learn. what i did was to get a mentor who guided me on what to learn, where to get materials and give me honest feedbacks. he also gave me task to work on that help boost my learning skills. i also took extra miles by engaging in learn via free code camp and other sites. i read alot of blogs and watch thousands of youtube videos.
