The Federal Government of Nigeria commissions the largest off-grid solar hybrid power plant in Africa at Bayero University, Kano (BUK) under the Energizing Education Programme (EEP). As a result, 55,815 students and 3,077 staff now have access to electricity supply from the university’s 7.1MW solar hybrid power plant.

The Bayero University commissioning included the launch of 11.41KM of solar powered street lights as well as a world class renewables training centre.

With a total capacity of 7.1 MW, the recently inaugurated off-grid solar hybrid plant at Bayero University in Kano State, Nigeria, is the first of its kind in Africa. The system will provide electricity to 59,000 inhabitants, including nearly 55,000 students

7.1MW indeed. If that thing can generate up to 1MW then it's a miracle. Conjuring figures up and down,as expected of typical Nigerian projects.
