How do you guys over there manage to even get internet access?
rejoice4eva:
Please, admin and naira Landers, help us push this up. This community is yet to have good access to digital communication, even though
Ipesi Akoko is in Akoko South East Local government area of Ondo State. It is home to about 20000 populace with their people all over the world.

It has a college of education. It is home to Ebomi Lake. A potential tourist attraction of international status.

A network provider has erected a mast for over 6 years and the project is uncompleted.

Please any one with any assistance on how this community can have good network access should help

You're very correct, because I've been there of recent, I'm from Isua - Akoko the HQs of Akoko south-east local government.
As a matter of fact, there are some places in Epemi that you have to stroll out from your house for some meters before one could get an unstable wave of telephonenetwork.

Airtel is good at covering remote locations. If the community will provide free land and maybe other incentives, that will attract at least one service provider. It won't be a bad idea for say the LG to offer to pick up the cost of running the gen for sometime.

ever since I arrive at ipesi.... we have been on dis issue of network for long but dey refuse to do something about it, they kept on promising but couldn't fulfil their promise... the worse aspect is that the village is lacking behind ever since their king died since 2005... they refuse to elect another king due to their selfish interest..
most of the people that occupy in ipesi her not believer dey believe in their so call fetish powers.

It has a college of education but no network service so apparently no internet service.

I wonder then what the students and lecturers of the college use to carry out research work

I know that Nigeria is not making people think well but don't show it in a way that will embarras a people/nation/tribe. If you are Igbo, i'm sorry for you cos i am and will never make that kindly of comment even at 10 years old. Please use your sense and don't divert discussions.
There are so many towns without network and this is spread throughout the country.
A lot is considered, some are 2G only site(voice calls with poor internet), 3G and a few 4G sites. Any town along a major highway is most likely to have network regardless of the population or economic activities there as the connection is serving people on transit.
I wont be surprise that the major challenge in that is the topography. Ondo has a lot of rocks and highlands as well as vegetation that may be causing obstruction to waves. The network providers will position their base station at a point that will serve most people(other towns around). Most parts of the north face security and verse land challenge, reason for poor network connect in that region.
My advice, contact the customer care of all the network providers via email(very important). Something will be done with time.

Dont worry we will set up a committee to look into the matter.

I just contacted President Buhari and he was SHOCKED.

Thank you for your kind intervention.

Please don't forget to remind Buhari today that we are yet to see his urgent action on the issue.

In Eda-Ile Ekiti in Ekiti East L.G.A of Ekiti State here, there is no telecom mast..
They go to some spots in the town before they can do anything with network..
We are in Nigeria..
Live with it!!!

a big town or a big village u mean?
Lagos or Abuja is still a village compared to some real towns and cities in the world.
Notwithstanding, whether as a town or village , Ipesi Akoko deserves access to better modern communication facilities , especially internet.

The network performance in the general Akoko area is bad, except ikare Akoko where you can get intermittent 4G, I hardly see any areas where the network performance is excellent in Akoko, even banks in ikare often complain of no network when the customers visit for transaction. Nigerian telecommunications need to invest more to improve their services in Akoko area

The community is one of those hidden communities in boundary between Ondo and Edo around the Akoko area. I doubt the population is even up to 15,000 people given how small it is. It's even off the major roads along that axis. The higher institution there is called Upland College of Education.
Hopefully, the Akeredolu government will expedite action that will ensure the community gets the much needed coverage.

It's a lie the population is over 500k almost a million people
