Mark Zuckerberg is not a billionaire just for you to chat and post pictures
They don't share any info.

Facebook, Google, Twitter and others automatically install cookies that monitors your browsing activities on your browser.

When you visit a website that sells a product, FB will know and then serve you related ads.

Facebook apps read your contact and uses your FB number to suggest friends to you.

FB only shares info with WhatsApp and Instagram.

They present you with ads that are only related to your Google or other app searches.

You may have googled or searched for those items prior to there purchase.

For searches. Google, through your PlayStore apps, listen to your conversations.

Just say I need a new pair of shoes like twice or so. Watch out what you see the next day when you go online.

Not news. To accept to use most, if not all apps is to be monitored to up to 10 metres of any location you are at. One reason it is laughable when FG says terrorists are “technically” defeated! Who said it and their company ought to have resigned long ago if they any modicum of integrity left!

Geotargetting. You likely 've given FB app access to track ur location using GPS in d past. They do request it.

And note that this is even different from tracking u using your IP.

Check properly, you must’ve googled or messaged someone about those items and that’s what targeted ads is all about. To the best of my knowledge, Facebook hasn’t gotten to the level of eavesdropping or using your phone camera to target you for adverts.

This is one of the reasons Facebook is fighting Apple as Apple intends to give iOS and macOS the power to opt out of being spied on in the name of advertisements.

Spooky stuff.

This is so true, i have withnessed same, i was looking for the best company to take loan from, later on i logged in to use facebook, i started seeing adverts from different loan firms shocked

That's product recommendations technique of machine learning, it's normal, it doesn't pop up from the sky. You must have used a web platform that's like an e commerce website where you made product searches and your interest was been tracked to offer you more related or same products.

It is from your browser and Facebook app. You need to disable ads monitors on your browser.

On Facebook

Open Facebook and navigate to the main menu. Select Settings in the Settings & Privacy dropdown.
Scroll down to the Ads section and select Ad Preferences.
Select Your information and deactivate any of the profile fields listed to stop ads based on these categories.
To stop ads based on data from advertisers, offline interactions (like purchases, your use of partner websites or apps) and your activity on Facebook Company Products:

Navigate back to the Ad Preferences menu and choose Ad settings.
Click on Ads based on data from partner or Ads based on your activity on Facebook Company Products that you see elsewhere.
Select No to deactivate these ad influencers.

All those are just buttons to give you peace of mind while they keep targeting you. Even your speeches are used to target you. As long as your phone has microphone, GPS, camera and internet, they'll target you.

There's only one way to use your phone to stop them but........

Facebook takes your phone UDID / identifier without your permission, and with that they personalize the AD they sell to you or sell your Data to other companies that sell you that same personalized AD .. if you care about privacy , delete Facebook , if you don’t really care about all that , then just ignore it..

It's not monitoring it is a type of cyber marketing, the site you bought those things from or searched them from are the ones that are doing this.
