That’s called targeted ads. Your Facebook apps monitors your browsing habits and also records and stored your audio via your phone’s mic. That is why you never give mic permissions when installing anything.

If I search or check out any item on jumia, I'll see the exact same items on apps that show ads. I initially thought they were monitoring me too until I discover they show you ads based on your interest. But this one you said you didn't search any, there's problem o Why will they monitor you though? Not that you work for shekau's men
