Jesus had twelve disciples and they were responsible for the spread of Christianity after Jesus left the earth. They were mentioned in the new testament of the Bible and many of them reached martyrdom. Though, The Qur'anic account of the disciples of Jesus does not include their names, numbers, or any detailed accounts of their lives but since Muslims are to believe in the Bible, Muslims are to accept them as Jesus disciples as well 1.James the Great, also known as James, son of Zebedee or as Saint James the Greater, was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus according to the New Testament and spread Christianity in Spain. In the year 44, he was beheaded in Jerusalem,Judea by King Herod Agrippas I and his remains were later transferred to Galicia in a stone boat, to the place where stands Santiago de CompostelaCathedral in Spain where he is buried finally. 2. St Philip or Philip the apostle was one of the Twelve Apostle of Jesus according to the New Testament. Philip was said to be apostle who preached in Greece, Syria, and Phrygia(Turkey today). There are two stories describing how he died, first one says,he was crucified upside down, died on the cross and the second one says he was martyred by beheading in the city of Hierapolis(Greece). The original tomb of St. Philip has been said to be in ancient Hierapolis, close to the modern Turkish city of Denizli and his final place of burial is said to be Basilica dei Santi XII Apostoli, Rome, Italy 3. Matthew the Apostle, also known as Saint Matthew and as Levi, publican (KJV) or tax collector(NIV) was according to the New Testament, one of the twelve apostles of Jesus. He was one of the witnesses of the Ascension of Jesus and preached the Gospel to Jewish community of Judea. Mathew must have believed to die in Ethiopia as he was staked or impaled to the earth by spears and then beheaded though debatable. His tomb is located in the crypt of Salerno Cathedral in southern Italy and final place of burial is Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Angels, Saint Matthew and Saint Gregory the Great, Salerno, Italy. 4. James the Less is a figure of early Christianity, one of the Twelve chosen by Jesus and was also known the Minor", "the Little", "the Lesser", or "the Younger", was the son of James, son of Alphaeus. He was said to have been stoned to death in Jerusalem by the Jews when preaching and was buried there beside the temple 5. Saint Peter also known as Simon Peter, Simeon, Simon, Cephas, or Peter the Apostle, was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ, and one of the first leaders of the early Church along with Paul. Several stories how he died were told but majority believed Peter was crucified upside down in Rome under Emperor Nero. His remains are at the Basilicaof Saint Peter ,which was later built, directly beneath the Basilica's high altar. His final place of burial is St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City 6. St Thomas or Thomas the Apostle, also called Didymus was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus according to the New Testament. Thomas is commonly known as "Doubting Thomas" because he doubted Jesus' resurrection when first told of it; later, he confessed his faith on seeing Jesus' crucifixion wounds. Thomas was allegedly martyred, killed with spears at St.Thomas Mount in Chennai. The final place of burial is Basilica Cathedral of St. Tommaso Apostolo, Ortona, Italy. 7. Saint Bartholomew was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus according to the New Testament. One tradition says Bartholomew is reputed to have brought Christianity to Armenia in the 1st century and also preached in India. His exact death was not certained as there are two accounts where one says he was flayed alive and beheaded. According to other accounts he was crucified upside down (head downward) like St Peter. He is buried at Basilica di San Bartolomeo all'Isola, Rome, Italy. 8. Andrew the Apostle, also called Saint Andrew, was an apostle of Jesus according to the New Testament. He is the brother of Saint Peter where both he and his brother Peter were fishermen by trade, hence the tradition that Jesus called them to be his disciples by saying that he will make them "fishers of men". He was said to be the first preacher of Christianity in the territory of Georgia, as the founder of the Georgian church. Andrew is said to have been matyred by crucifixions at the city of Patras(Greece) on a cross of the form called crux decussata (X-shaped cross, or "saltire now commonly known as a "Saint Andrew's cross" — supposedly at his own request, as he deemed himself unworthy to be crucified on the same type of cross as Jesus had been |

9. Saint Jude was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus according to the New Testament. He is generally identified with Thaddeus, and is also variously called Jude of James, Jude Thaddaeus,Judas Thaddaeus or Lebbaeus. Saint Jude suffered martyrdom in Beirut, in the Roman province of Syria and the axe that he is often shown holding in pictures symbolizes the way in which he was killed. His final place of burial is St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City 10. Simon the Zealot or Simon the Canaanite or Simon the Canaanean was one of the most obscure among the apostles of Jesus and to distinguish him from Simeon Peter he is called Kananaios or Kananites. Simeon the Zealot suffered martyrdom in Beirut alongside Saint Jude. His remains with saint Jude are in one tomb. His final burial place is St. Peter's Basilica, Vatican City. 11. John the Apostle was one of the Twelve Apostles of Jesus according to the New Testament. Generally listed as the youngest apostle, he was the son of Zebedee and Salome. John's martyrdom was not certained, also a claim that he died a natural death but a report claimed John was plunged into boiling oil but miraculously escaped unscathed. His final burial place is Basilica Of Saint John, Turkey. 12. Matthias was, according to the Acts of the Apostles, chosen by the apostles to replace Judas Iscariot following the latter's betrayal of Jesus and his subsequent death. His calling as an apostle is unique, in that his appointment was not made personally by Jesus, who had already ascended to heaven. Matthias was said to have preached the Gospel in Judaea, then in Aethiopia(Georgia) and was stoned to death there attaining martyrdom. His final place of burial is St. Matthias' Abbey, Trier, Germany |

luwiizy:Not some but all of them. They simply do not trust God at all - another indicator that they are not of God. For if they did, they would, like Jesus Christ did, submit themselves to whatever God allows their way. Jesus Christ could have called an army of angels if He wanted to, to save Him from dying on the cross, but He didn't because He instead submitted Himself to God's plan and lead, going to the cross to fulfill the Will of God. The same Jesus Christ commanded His own against protecting themselves against their enemies, instructing them instead to submit to the whims of their enemies, choosing to love even in those circumstances. His disciples, beginning with Stephen, in obedience to God's Will submitted when attacked by their enemies. Your GOs and Mogs are against God when they choose to employ bodyguards around themselves, this all so that they guard themselves against the whims of the very enemies which Jesus instead commands His followers to instead submit to. 1 Like |

You most likely are a Catholic. Before Christianity got many denominations, there was "The Church". And this Church uses The "Traditions" in addition to the Bible. With Luther's revolution, Protestantism was born. The Protestant Church dropped the Traditions and held uniquely to the Bible. How the Apostles died are recorded in the Traditions and for this reason, not all Christians believe it (I doubt protestant believe in them). Only those who still uses the Traditions do... mostly the Catholics. I realized this difference in belief the day I told a Jehovah's Witness about St Veronica, the woman that wiped Jesus' face with a linen when Jesus was on his way to Calvary. The guy told me to show him where it was written in the Bible. I was surprised to realized it actually wasn't recorded in the Bible. |

blazepascal:What makes you think that Muslims believe in the Bible? They have their own version of the stories contained in the Gospel, a version doctored up to put the name of their Mohammed in the mouths of God, Adam, and Jesus Christ, so why should they need to believe in your bible books when they have their version of the stories intact in their " gospel of Jesus by Barnabas"? |

Kobojunkiee: You sounded naïve and moralistic. Jesus' message is not essentially moralistic. He told humanity "how to live" and not "what to do". There's a different between "love your enemies" and "give money to your enemies". The first tells you how you should relate to your enemies while living you the choice of "actions to take". There are many ways to love. But the second tells you a particular way to love which is only one out of the many ways. You're reading the Bible from a moral perspective because your doing literal interpretations of the message therein. The messages aren't to be taken 100% literal. If not a lot of things there would be absurd and meaningless to us. Secondly, what do you think about this claim you made? Kobojunkiee:. Isn't it too myopic to judge an entire group of people with the experience made of some few persons in the group? |

HealerH:Interesting claim you make there. So, tell me, when Jesus Christ declared that those who love Him are those who OBEY HIS COMMANDMENTS, was Jesus Christ only telling you by that "how to live" or "what to do"? Does any of that sound to you like mere advice, or rather instructions to those who wish to be His followers? HealerH:Jesus Christ not only told you to love your enemies, He also explained how you should do it. You should spend more time in fact learning the Truth of Jesus Christ by reading the Gospels for yourself sometime. HealerH:So, you "literally" claim to believe in Jesus Christ but you do not "literally" believe all of what Jesus Christ teaches and commands you to obey? And by that, you suggest that the disciples who "literally" obeyed the teachings of Jesus Christ live an absurd and meaningless existence as a result? HealerH:Nothing myopic about stating the truth as it is! If your Mogs think just as you do, then I rest my case! |

HealerH:But in the Bible accounts by the apostle, there is no Veronica who wiped the face of Jesus Christ. She is only mentioned in the "gospel of Nicodemus" and not even indicated as a follower of Jesus Christ, making it even more senseless that you believe her a saint of some sort for supposedly wiping Jesus' face!. |
Re: The 12 Disciples Of Jesus Christ And What Really Happened To Them. by HealerH: 1:10am On Apr 25, 2021 |
Kobojunkiee:. No difference. You still sound naïve and childish. If Christians should live according to Jesus' commandments (do this... don't do that...), tell me why you're using a phone/computer whereas Jesus didn't command us to do so. Stop being moralistic. The gospel of Jesus is not moralistic. Humans invented morals. And if you insist to follow Jesus' commandments literally, make sure you turn your other cheek when you're slapped on one (Mt 5:38-42), make sure you don't think about your future (Mt 6:34) and make sure you hate your mother (Lk 14:26) See you in heaven. |

Kobojunkiee: You're just dumb. Your illiteracy is disgusting. You comment on people's texts like you've got some scores to settle with them. You seem blinded by some prejudices and never read to see the truth in a text. Where did I write "I believe" Veronica to be a Saint? You're a fool. Does talking to someone about Prophet Mohammed makes me a Muslim? |

Kobojunkiee: The title "Saint" in the Church's Traditions is like saying "Mr" in Western tradition. Many people have the title of "Saint" but it is optional "to believe" in their Sainthood. Mark the verb "to believe". I can be a Christian, address Veronica with the title of Saint but not believe her to be in heaven or be a good person. The same way I can address a Barrister as "My Lord" (or whatever title they go by) without believing he is my Lord. |
Re: The 12 Disciples Of Jesus Christ And What Really Happened To Them. by Kobojunkiee: 2:33am On Apr 25, 2021 |
HealerH:When you obey the commandments stipulated in the Old Covenant Law of Moses e.g. "Thou shall not lie", do you also conclude that by doing so, you reduce yourself to being moralistic, and hence unable to use phones and computers as a result? Jesus Christ is the Law, the New Covenant which God promised through His prophets for the Kingdom of God and as such all those who belong to the Kingdom of God are intended to live in obedience of the teachings and commandments of the Law, in much the same way the descendants of Jacob were required, by God, to live in complete submission and obedience to the Old Covenant Law of Moses. HealerH:You are expected to obey His commandments if you really intend to end up in His Kingdom of Heaven. Heaven belongs to Him and He is the Law that decides who can or cannot enter into His Heaven. Remember that Jesus Christ is the only way into Heaven and if you truly intend to enter it, He commands that you submit to His rules and teachings... His Truth. As for turning the other cheek, I don't see why anyone who claims to belong to Jesus Christ would resist so. In the passage below we are clearly informed of what is expected of us when we are confronted by enemies. We are to put our trust in God knowing that in our obedience, He bears the consequence. Stephen we are told "turned the other cheek" to his enemies, and they stoned him to death for it. Are you better than Stephen who did as Jesus Christ commanded, because that is what you declare when you suggest you are not to do as Jesus Christ instructed. So, if you are not willing to hate father and mother etc. you are not worthy of Jesus Christ and as such cannot enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. |

HealerH:What church traditions? I know it is the apostles and those "venerated" according to the rituals of the catholic church that are typically referred to as saints, not unknowns like "Berenika" or Veronica there. |
