MASSOB declares May 30 as ‘Biafra Day’

By Anayo Okoli
The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has declared May 30th as Biafra Day. The group explained that it will not be celebrated but urged all markets, schools, banks and all other public offices in Biafra land to observe a sit at home exercise as a mark of respect for their fatherland.

This was contained in a statement by their National Director of Information, Samuel Edeson in which the body explained that it took the decision after its National meeting at MASSOB headquarters in Enugu during which  it insisted on commemorating Biafra Day on May 30th in respect of the ordinances of the late Warlord and leader of Biafra, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.

It further explained that Ojukwu declared the Republic of Biafra with the total consent and full support of the elders and the people of Biafra on May 30th, 1967 and that the group does not intend to observe the anniversary on any other date, except on May 30th which it described as sacrosanct in the history of Biafra.

The statement partly read: “The ordinances of our great leader, General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu must be jealousy and eloquently adhered to; any attempt to change it by disgruntled persons will be strictly resisted”,  “This year’s anniversary will be celebrated by the people of Biafra not as a pro-Biafra group, but a mark of respect and honour to our father land, it is also a reminder to the visions and commandments of our great ancestors that we are not Nigerians but Biafrans.

They urged Biafrans to observe special prayers and supplication for all their fallen heroes and enjoined their people to prepare for what they described as a great anniversary and reminder of their struggle.

I don't know what to say, but as much as I'd like to stay patroitc to the nigeria I came to know and love the country has killed of the patroitism in me.... So MASSOB should know that I'm currently unemployed (not by choice) , so I'll be at home.

Seun , Lalasticlala .
I just made FTC for the first time in a long time, so I hope I get some prize money.

As for the mod that banned me for two weeks thinking he has done me harm (as if nairaland is paying me for being online) all because I said some truths to the BBQGRILLS wimp..... I hope you've gotten promoted for your work.

Which one Is MASSOB? That group is already moribund. They should look for what to do.

I fully support.

If only massob can restructure and make the SE leaders and traditional stronghold their major target for agitation, I would gladly join.

Like it or not we need this people to achieve a break away from this evil govt. They will be the ones to sit with the FG on a round table of negotiation and project the agitation of the region to the fg.

Mossob is a useless group. IPOB we know and MNK has declared may 30 no movement day. In all the cities across Biafran land. We have graduated from sit at home to no movement across Biafra land.

A big disappointment to all you terrorists from the foothills of futa jalon. MASSOB is known in Biafraland and by every Biafran as a fulani stooge organization. They have no members, but only a saboteur named Uwazurike that parades himself as the leader od MASSOB. In Biafraland, we all know and pay allegiance ONLY to IPOB led by the indefectible leader known as Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the nightmare of the fulanis.

MASSOB can not and will never dictate what happens in Biafraland. In his previous broadcast, our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu declared 30th of this year as a day that every one of us MUST stay indoors and not to be seen outside. Not only that markets will be closed, but also that no one should be seen outside or else.........He reiterated that even the cockroaches that come outside of anyone's house will be killed. You must learn by FORCE to respect our dead and we are talking of over 5 million people that were massacred by you desert urchins.
