Hello Guys please I need your advise and experiences here;
I am a graduate of Electrical and Electronics engineering with an upper credit but since my graduation in 2008 I haven't been fortunate enough to get a job in my field hence I have been hustling any and everything to make ends meet but am always feeling misplaced you know like am not on the right track. so I am considering going back to school to improve on my qualification.

My intention is to get a higher degree in engineering preferably electrical power related from a Canadian institution but from my research so far masters degree with HND is out of the question in Canada (I hope am wrong) the most viable option is to apply for fresh admission but considering my age (mid 30s) a visa officer my deny my visa application considering I already have an HND why go for another degree or if I leave out my HND that would create a vacuum of over 10 years in my record (I also hope to be wrong). Although I don't mind going for certificate courses as well.

So guys please those who have experience and ideas on how to achieve my aim should kindly share.

Thanks so much

My suggestion is that you seek higher education in the US since your HND is given direct admission into postgraduate programme and there are more funding available to you.

You're poorly educated!

Yes. But why go the undergraduate route which is more expensive and time consuming when you can try for a masters directly?
thanks.
I don't want to go further in my discipline.
I want to try out a different course but I don't know/think it's possible to move up to Masters level without background knowledge in the field.
or what do you think?

You can actually use your HBD certificate to run an MSc/PGD program in UK (e.g Robert Gordon University)

Convert your results on WES, ND and HND and use it for a masters application
Tell me more about this. I already evaluated by Bsc economics degree with WES, graduated 2011. How can I proceed? What are the financial costs?

The admin that moved this 2019 post to FP must be a HND holder looking for escape route or he is high on expired metacafe..

Pls try USA schools, evaluate your Credentials through world educational services to make you HND equivalent to BS degree (4yrs). Then apply to schools of your choice by sending your credentials directly to the schools from WES.

Cheers on you journey to Japa.

There are postgraduates in Canada. You can do a PGD. Most importantly what skill do you possess? A higher degree from Canada doesn't assure a tomorrow if you don't have direction

Lol look at you...try the Canadian Immigrantion and find out how HND is better than B.Sc. HND is seen as 2 degree holders and gives much more higher points than B.SC.

The discrimination is only in Nigeria.

Why not try US? I'm also HND too. I got Msc admission from different schools in the US.

So there's no need of going for PGD?
I'm currently doing my hnd program. I'll like to know the steps you took in the admission process and how much is tuition fee for the Masters program

Try STEM courses if coming to the US. If you want your field then go for only Econometrics and Quantitative Economics for masters. Or look for other STEM designated courses. Some schools want GRE, some don't (pandemic). But a higher GRE score can help you with scholarships in the US
