I planned on moving to Jos before the pandemic, but I'd no one that's familiar with the environment, so I'd to abort the plan. I'd like to know more, specially the house rent.
If you still interested I can take you round the city. your reasons for staying would be achieved. here is My whatsapp number.

I'm 36, IT professional n married with 2 kids...wife not really working. i currently work in an ingo that also gas field offices includin Jos...but my salary isnt that interesting to make me that comfortable in abuja considering the bills on my neck.
we stay in a 1BR apartment in one of the villages (chika precisely) in abuja and pays abt 370 yearly.

ive visited Jos more than 5 times and i keep loving it more in each visit...Rayfield and surroundings to be precise...calm, weather friendly, fresh n affordable food, my salary wud get me a comfortable 2BR flat... navigation to/from abuja is jst 4hrs..so i feel i can apply for a relocation to our field office in jos..or at worst work from abuja and travel weekends.

i dont intend living anywhere outside Jos south/Rayfield environs

as a family man...i find it most suitable to relocate there..most esp for the sanity n good environment for my children's growth -stressfree of going to school in abuja, the hot sun, bad electricity, havin to wake up to fan my.kids at night (ofcos i have Generator)..i stay in a noisy compound that dosnt befit me..many fake foods n fruits in abuja, ..i wonder if its the same Nigeria...but Jos looks like a greener pasture for me.

Op look at the havoc those guys wrecked in Jos North where the University of Jos is domiciled. They Invaded, dominated and have taken over the area.

The barbarians in most of their many senseless riots even made attempt to invade the institution.

Look at the damage those guys did to the once beautiful joyful city of Jos in the name of sectarian crisis.

Now the city is sharply divided into two polar halves just like what obtains in Kaduna.

Mehn this guys are something else.

Last last this naija go divide o if this tribalism and religious intolerance persists.

Jos is cool but money dry there

You nailed it , that is what I was expecting people to say , Jtown is nice to stay and keep your family, but economically sterile, you will have to look for other major cities for you income.

You can keep your family in Jtown while working in Abj, just 3 hours drive away, minus the security wahala on the road between Jtown and Abj.

Since your family will be staying in Jtown you can look for more affordable accommodation in abj, and pray that things improve in the fuure so that you can stay with your family.

The phases of life.

My thoughts exactly.
Your mention is not in tandem with the OP's post. He clearly asked a direct question that doesn't clearly relate with his income.
Deep Quote
Ability to read and comprehend is a Superpower.

Well an advocacy is not always in tandem but to help create awareness as long as there is a relation to the subject matter.

You using my Deep Quote out of context shows your ability to comprehend.
And you intentionally avoided my question and ill ask again "where in my comment did i suggest that the OP resigns' like you falsely allegedly stated....kindly be honest to point it out to show your level of comprehending ability.
If you want to quote people out of context then just avoid trying to do so with my mention because i don't hesitate to expose such IGNORANT acts on a public space as NL.

I can relate to what you're facing in Abuja and you considering to relocate to Jos. I've always loved Jos too due to the weather and fresh cheap fruits, infact I was posted there for NYSC but had to redeploy back to Lagos where I came from bcz of the crisis that year. Hard decision to take because I also wanted to go to the film school in Jos(best film school in Nigeria)
Today I live in Abuja (pyakasa) close to where you live. 400k a yr, 1 bedroom. Not easy as a family man too but I thank God for life.
Your post is actually making me reconsider Jos, but getting discouraged about the unrest in Nigeria at the moment

Stop running yourself into the state called confusion.
Op asked a question, did your reply answer that question? No.
U tried distracting him with your comments, so he'd do a follow up and ask u to show him the way.
Next time u want to throw a financial advice, do not drop a motivational quote That is bereft of both head and tail.

I noticed you didn't drop any quotes this time. Have u ran out of quotes?

The OP has gotten some suggestions point of correction he didn't ask you to help him ask NL members ...unless you tell me he hired you for that....SMH
It's obvious you have very little to do online ill advise you to also get residual income ways to fill up those idle times you've got there are websites that you could run errands online for a fee rather than do it for free.....mind you even if you quote me a million more times I will ignore because I'm moving on.

mrdharkchild:

So u noticed my pace of replies.
Obvious, I was hoping your post could not come as a motivation, but with content, direction and facts.
It shouldn't surprise you if I asked for direction on how to go about what you proposed.
I don't hold grudges.
Grudges online? SMH.....
NL has rules so I can't post such web portals or info....you can try google skillshare.
There are NL members that have started earning through my tutelage but fail to come on here to testify...don't be like them when or if you earn via my info.

The bolded is the reason why i am looking at settling down in Jos in the nearer future..I have spent 10 years working in Lagos and I am tired of the hustling and bustle of the city life.I see myself settling down in a calm and quiet state like Jos; While I start & establish my farm business there..Then, visit friends and family in Lagos ,Abuja and PH from time to time. Peace and quiet is what I really need.
Peace and quiet is sadly not a permanent feature of jos. No one can tell when a religious crisis could erupt again.
Tensions got really high during the endsars protests. So like most parts of nigeria, Josites sleep with one eye open.

You will love it in Jos since you have a decent job/income. Its hustling that is generally hard here cos of limited opportunities. Life is generally more affordable here compared to major cities in the north. Accommodation (360k will get you a decent 2 bedroom flat around Guratop, TCNN, maiadiko, favwei areas all within Rayfield), food, school for your kids and transportation. But you will need to take it easy with the flexing if you are the hanging out type. Lots of joints to spend money on and alot more peeps to help you do that. Else, you'll be fine.

Let me give you a brotherly advice, and I hope you work on it...
First of all I counsel people and I have done that on nairaland for a while... I have met great and good guys...
I dropped a story about my experience teaching in two schools as a corper and would not mind partnering with schools in abuja, but some accused me of looking for teaching job... Never ever mind what people say...
Back to the matter...
As a graduate, teaching and earning 15k, e no bad... But once you have a good (android) phone, go to any car stand of your choice around your area... Listen well, any good car stand and ask to see the manager... Tell him you want to help him market his cars and get good buyers... 90% of car stand managers will sign u on... Tel him you will be paid a small commission after sales...
Pick up your phone, snap as many cars as your phone memory can take, open a dedicated twitter ac, IG ac, Facebook ac, WhatsApp ac, ac etc... Take out time to post this cars, make sure you have the actual prices of this cars... You can add as much as #250k on it... Bring down the negotiations to as low as making #50k if need be just so I can sell. Set your monthly target... I assure you, if you get I client in a month, u make around #100,000k once you start growing, you can get as much as 5-10 client from all over the country and that hits you over #1m for just helping others sell their cars, Note all you invested was your time, energy, phone and data... No big financial capital...
Do not restrict yourself to cars, go for industrial machines as well, caterpillars, mikano gens, any thing, then you look for those big companies that need them and try to call their attention to it or market it to them... You may not sell in 3 months but when you manage to get a client to buy just 1 caterpillars, my brother you will instantly forget that u suffered before...
A friend of mine was marketing a silo for a local wielder, he received a call all the way from kebbi state, the purchase was made in Ilorin, he made #1.8 mil from buyers and #400k from seller... He still got a referral from that deal. Wake up bro...
Within a month or two, come and pay (tite).
I drive uber/bolt in abuja, market cars, sell commodities such as beans, maize, wheat, ginger, onions, name it... In bags and tonnes
And I make nothing less than half a mil monthly...

Affordable megatron 50,000mah powerbanks with 4 output units, type c and normal usb cord. payment on delivery within Lagos and Nationwide dispatch
ok good advice. However the car dealers allow to add to the actual price? Will they also pay a commission? Thank you

I will tell u this; if u can be transferred to your office here in jos; do it. Rayfield is a beautiful place. Most Rich people in Abuja have built or rented a place for their family there while they are still working in Abj. It's a standard place where even white workers in Nigeria keep their families there because of weather; constant light and security. My dad relocated from Lagos to Jos while I was in primary 6. I was mad!!! but now; he has his own house and 2 other houses which he rents out and his colleagues are still renting houses in Lagos
