Assuming those are 'gala sellers', aren't they dignified human beings like anyone else? Or are you mocking them because of their choice of trade and position in life?

Nnewi is begging for REGENERATION. There is RAW and UNORGANISED money, business and development in Nnewi.
The government need to help this industrious town through RENEWED URBAN PLANNING to move them to the next step of HUMAN WELLBEING.
A lot of demolition and relocation of markets out of town and far from main roads MUST take place in Nnewi to redeem it from becoming uncontrollable LARGE SLUM in future.

The only regrettable thing is that this video tells everything about us. I personally find it repugnant due to the general environment.

We toil to build a multi-billion dollar business, yet we must conduct the entire business in absolute squalor and chaotic, filthy environment. The business rarely attracts any new foreign investors to grow nor command any respect at all because it looks so chaotic & rag-tag. Yet, it is worth so much! The general mentality of our people that the immediate environment around their business does not matter is a huge impediment to us.

Shut your mouth this hausa man. What did your peter obi do in Nnewi for 8 years? You cant come now and pretend you are after good governance after attacking everyone who questioned peter obi during his very mediocre, uninspiring tenure, when you were being paid. Atleast Obiano saved nnewi from the 100 foot pound erosion that wanted to destory Nnewi not to mention his community projects and roads, streetlights etc in Nnewi.. What did your paymaster do for nnewi
pls which roads in Nnewi?

When you go abroad, places like Nnewi are regarded as surburbs. It is not out of place to refer to Nnewi as a surburb of Onitsha. People like Senator Ifeanyi Ubah who are in position to help that place look liveable by attracting federal funding for Nnewi roads are not doing so rather he is diverting the funds to settle his Amcon debts and prosecute this year's governorship election. A clear case of incapacity and political misadventure.

Do not underestimate the parochial nature of the average Nnewi indigene o! this narrow-mindedness is the reason why it is so difficult to start any development project there, besides the town center is so jampacked and densely populated that its going to be near impossible to relocate any market or park. I think a more cost effective approach to modernizing the town is tighter supervision and enforcement of town planning and traffic regulations. Shops have to restrict wares display within the shops, no extension of shop shades and shelters onto the road, eliminate street trading, expand key roads and junctions...............the idea of massive demolitions and relocation may not work. I wonder what the old site of unizik teaching hospital will be used for when they move to the perm site in Umudim Nnewi? that's the only substantial space left within the town center.

Its important to remember that it's the duty of the government to put town planning in place and map out residential , market and industrial areas. We lack the culture of organization and order due to the incompetent people we allow to run our affairs. Nnewi is an eyesore, you have people erecting all sort of illegal structures anywhere they can find a land even up to tje tip of the roads.

Ifeanyi Ubah can only do very little to resurface the town. What happens after you repave the federal roads at Nnewi? Will that change the outlook of the town ? No.

The problem with Nnewi is town planning and reorganization , which is the duty of state and local government. Somebody already pointed out that some markets needs to be relocated.

We are here stressing about the squalor in Nnewi but take a look at our own darling capital town Awka... look at eke Awka and tell me you arent ashamed. What did Obiano do about eke Awka in his over 7yrs as a governor? The governor is a man who lives in America and enjoys the benefits of a well planned and organized society but has conveniently abandoned his father's land in ruins.

Obiano has uplifted Awka from what it was in the Peter Obi era. The city looks much more presentable now. Land in Awka is even more expensive than in Enugu at the moment. Then the issue of Nnewi rests with Nnewi people themselves. The town developed from a village into an urban settlement with that same village mindset. Nnewi is no different from my village or any other village in Anambra state only that it has more business. The failure of Nnewi stems from the people themselves through Nzuko ora Nnewi failure to map out their town for development in an orderly manner rather than the flagrant sale of land in anywhere belle face fashion. What Nnewi needs now is for their confused senator to use his position in Abuja to build good roads for them since the idea of demolitions is too expensive and not feasible. Ifeanyi Ubah can attract nothing less than 10 billion naira annually to Nnewi alone in infrastructure upgrade but illiteracy has finished that man in his misadventure in Abuja.

You can't really say it's parochial and narrow mindedness. Are they narrow minded but are able to achieve great feats in business, building big industries, developed their town from a total bush to a city?
The blame is on all past and present governors of Anambra state that have neglected Nnewi for more than 30 years now despite the huge revenue the city generates for the state and the huge jobs the city creates. Nnewi Must be given a special attention

Everywhere in Anambra was neglected, don't make it sound like Nnewi was targeted. The coming of Ngige brightened things a little in the rural areas but Onitsha, Awka, Nnew, Ihiala, Ekwulobia all suffered neglect. Obiano has done a lot in Onitsha especially in Awada and Omagba but the deficit is still huge. In Awka, he has also done a lot. In Nnewi he saved the town from being swallowed by gully erosion that almost tore the town in three parts. The infrastructure challenges in Anambra is not something that can be cured by one administration. Obiano has done his best and the next governor will do his own.

Please, where is Obiano getting money for these projects??

Someone told me today that the pace of work at the International Conference Center was also going on rapidly.

Many states don't even pay salaries now! Yet, Obiano pays full salaries on the 26th of every month!!! How does he do it??
Even Umahi that is equally performing (infrastructure wise) owes salaries unlike Obiano!

Governor Willie Obiano is God sent to Anambra state. Thank God that Father Mbaka publicly acknowledged it recently. One other amazing feat of Obiano that many have chosen to ignore for their selfish motives is that Obiano will complete his 8 year tenure without the civil service embarking on strike throughout his 8 year tenure unlike what was happening in the Mbadinuju administration when teachers went on strike for over a year or the Peter Obi administration when doctors and health workers went on strike for over a year plus water corporation staff dying because Obi refused to pay them. Akpokuedike Aguleri will never be forgotten in Anambra history. Lest I forget, Peter Obi was collecting mega billions with oil above 120 dollars unlike now that oil is less than 50 dollars. The difference is clear.

Peter Obi invested over 75 billion of Anambra money in stocks and bonds and the last time I heard about the investment it has appreciated up to 200 billion. When the father of modern Anambra (Peter Obi) was investing these monies many called him a ffool even Charles Soludo thought it was senseless and criticized Obi on a national television. And today we could borrow up to 100 billion just because we have 300 billions sitting somewhere and adding more gains.

There you have it, Anambra is loaded and by now we have nothing less than 300 billion in investments.....like Peter Obi always say..."let's save for the rainy days for our children."

So we can also say Obiano is investing Anambra money in stocks and bond. Obi was investing Anambra money but couldnt complete ordinary shopping malls but was able to complete his own mall in Abuja. You are a fool and Soludo was right to call him a fool.

The 75 billion is fake. The con artist Obi never left any 75 billion anywhere, where is the evidence and also Anambra never borrowed any 100 billion under Obiano.. Anambra IGR during Obi was 8 billion/year while he was investing, under Obiano its over 28 billion a year. If Peter Obi built Anambra Airport or completed the shopping malls when oil was over $100 it would have cost the state less but because he was clueless he was using the state money to expand his business. so shut up and get out of here.

If Governor Obiano saw the kind of money that Peter Obi had in his time but mismanaged and looted in building shopping malls in Abuja and PH, and buying shares for his family in Intafact brewery and other overseas schemes, Anambra would have been the cynosure of all eyes in Southern Nigeria today. All the mediocre roads that Obi built that have since been washed away is what people are now blaming Obiano for. It is painful that those lost years of Peter Obi's maladministration cannot be recovered.
