It works!

One of our staffs was harassed by a team of the FSARS, Ibadan and wanted to extort him since they found a phone and the receipt of a over 100k on him -they concluded he must be a criminal.
When another member of our staff that was with him called to inform me and told me they had taken him (the other one they 'illegally' arrested) to Testing Ground in Iwo Road (their Zonal Command), I asked to speak with the Officer in Charge of the team and when he gave him the phone, he was just shouting (more of egoistic threats and I-call-do-and-undo attitude, IMHO) that I should come to meet them and 'I will see what they would do to me', since I said he's a member of staff of our studio, so, I was the one sending them on jobs.
I then immediately call the PPCRU number and within seconds, I was on the call with a senior police officer in Abuja with a very noticeable Northern accent. I stated my case as the other staff had narrated to me. He demanded to speak with any of FSARS officers and I told him I wasn't at the location of the incidence.
I then sent the other guy that was with him the PPCRU number to call and explain everything to him. He did and according to his account, the OC was just jittery and saying, yes sir, yes sir! on the phone. The OC then lied that they were investigating and not trying to extort and would release him if I could come to their office and identify him, our staff.
So, I went there and within minutes, he was bailed, FREE OF CHARGE! Which would have been so impossible if I hadn't call the PPCRU number.

Please and please, the public should know and save all PPCU numbers, emergency numbers and all local authorities numbers on their phones. And more importantly use them whenever there's a need to.
cool

Instead of reporting to the police just drop a tweet on Twitter and leave the rest for NTC

Fear fear

That's why they will always intimidate you.

All the law enforcement agents that crossed my line are either dead, about to die or very loyal.

If I've complained to the relevant authorities and didn't get any response, I will go to alusi and make my case there.

Alusi no deyt wast time to bring justice.
Please can you enlighten me about this Alusi thing? Where's Alusi?

Contact SERVICOM and there is an NGO backed by NBA at all state levels that take police victimization cases free of Charge. Before u know it they would have copied the IG, DPO and the accused to appear in Court asap.

To call the story short guys, I had an encounter with police officers earlier where extortion was involved. Then it occurred to me that when we experience similar issues from some organizations we can actually report.

We know we can always report banks to CBN and telecommunications to NCC. I read up on how to report police officers and got some clues, like reporting to Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU), even though I understand this is a government thing.

But I later got to know the unit is a division under the public police force itself. So I have this doubt if it would be active like NCC/CBN.

Has anyone here ever reported and experienced a positive result after reporting?
Or is there any other way to report them?
my dear, report to PCRRU with evidence of transfer and the officers name if you have them. They will only act on evidence

I was harassed by highway police officer on Benin/Ore road on ground that I was driving a stolen car since the car was not registered in my name. I took their names and vehicle number and call PCRRU, I was asked to hand the phone to them and after speaking with them, PCRRU requested I send the particulars of the vehicle and I was given a number for the car owner to call with his register phone number. At the end of the verification, they asked the officers to let me go and they refused. I reported them back as they kept threatening they will kill me and term me a robber, I said no problem after PCRRU already had their details. PCRRU had to call their immediate superior who asked them to do the needful else they will lose their jobs. They gave me my documents and I refused to collect telling them to kill me first as an arm robber. They started begging me.

So my guy report first, let action not be taken but you would have played your part in contributing to reform the police. But you must have evidence

Honestly, I don't believe these people saying PCRRU works.

I once reported a case to them and I got into far more trouble. I was so confident because I had read many cases they helped resolved on Twitter.

It was a very very bad experience.

Click on my profile and you will see the story.

I guess they work when it involves just regular police and not SARS.

My advice: Avoid PCRRU if you don't want to get into further trouble. Gracias

November last year, I sent a DM.. then they gave me a number to call... after I spoke to them, I got calls from two different DPOs calling me to resolve the issue.

It works very well. They have phone numbers for phone calls and what's up. Chose either of the numbers and communicate with them and lay your complaint. Just ensure you know the name of the suspect, IPO, Division or Outpost, nature of allege offence because they will asked you. The have the phone numbers of all the Dpos of divisions as well as area command in Nigeria.

Two years back, I got a complaint of unlawful arrest and detention of some minors at a Police Station in Jos. The parents of the suspects pleaded for help from me. I called the number and gave them the details. First thing in the morning, the DPO called his men and told them a lawyer has reported him in Abuja, he pleaded with his boys to take the minors/suspects to court to avoid any embarrassment from above. The DPO said he might be transferred if the suspects were not charge to court. The Prosecutor of the case pleaded with me to make a case for others in unlawful detention, cos the DPO like detaining suspects.

They're very effective. The police in Dopemu area once arrested my staff in the night and detained him till dawn and in the morning, made him clean the station premises and still obtained 4k from him. I called the unit and they told me to go to the police station and ask for the name of the officer. I got there and told them that the unit is asking for the name of the officer that arrested my staff. One of the officers said e never reach that level na, calm down and together with others contributed the 4k and gave it to the guy. They are good, very good

From what I have heard of awkuzu...its no different from Ikeja SARS (Ikeja is or was worse). I know what I am talking about. That place in no different from Hitlers concentration camps ( if not worse).

Police extorted me of 50k last month, I reported to the commissioner of police and I was called to come and collect my money, I didn't go because I didn't trust any Police . But I noticed those officers that extorted me are no more doing stop and search since the day u reported to the state commissioner of police and each time I pass through their police station , I also noticed there are no young guys detained in that station( the building where they used to detain anybody they wants to extort is visible from outside

Nigeria is currently hot...from end SARS to unknown gunmen...so they know better. Years ago, many have left this world for tackling police.

Either sue Police to court and claim damages running into million ( for the offence of one of their own) they hate it with passion or use someone higher in the system to breath down on any of them that you want to deal with and follow it up with Journalist reporting the matter on any major tabloid or popular blogs and use some international NGO as icing on the cake. The outcome will amaze you
