Hey guys!
I was going through the thread below and I was impressed and curious at the same time...

https://www.nairaland.com/6519071/remote-work-experiences-remote-worker

How do you guys stay on a particular project/work for at least 5 hours with maximum productivity without getting tired easily? I noticed must of you work long hours like you're computers.
Do you guys take caffeine or any stimulate to keep you charged to work a long time?
I'm been trying to learn some skills with my phone and I gas out easily. I'm not happy about this as I've given myself a timeline to master certain things but it's not pulling through.
How do I work long hours and become effective at the same time?

Are you about the long hours or about the productivity?

Well the secret is many.
Some people uses
Will power
Discipline
Right environment
Right mindset and approach

I listed it according to difficulty, will power is the most difficult and unreliable.

Using will power and discipline is the last resort you should use e.g to get to the right environment and even developing a right mindset.

After then when you’re in the right environment and using the right mindset then productivity is ire

First you must be in a place with the right amount of noise level and less distraction for maximum productivity.

For mindset, learn what you have the background for, meaning do the fundamentals and follow the right flow, practice what you learn. Speak with people of same mindset as yours.

Also be patient and do things slowly especially when don’t understand them accurately. Also have the mindset that stuff are not all that easy at first but it will soon enough when you understand them. Also have a mindset that some concept wouldn’t become clear at first.

Lastly remember to know how to rest and come back again

I'm about productivity though I feel I need to stretch my learning hours a bit as I'm not satisfied with going 2 hours and losing interest after that period. I'm trying to stretch myself though.
And maybe I haven't been using the right approach and I'm not patient enough cos' I usually Google 'how long' to master a particular skill and get overwhelmed by the feedbacks.
Lastly, I'll experiment with the resting and coming back technique.
Thanks boss

I mean it depends, my motivation is simple, I like Good life, to live good life I must earn well, to earn well I must have a good job, to have a good job, I must be technically skilled, to be technically skilled I must work long hours. I like writing code, but as long as money is involved, and the money makes sense, the motivation will come.

Play Good music: Lo-fi, something relaxing

then Passion too plays a factor.

For me I don't code throughout the day. The maximum amount of time I spend coding a task at a stretch is 3hrs. After that I will take a break where I surf the internet, listen to music or sometimes even watch an entire anime episode. Infact I'm posting this message from one of my 'breaks' cheesy

3 hours? Not bad boss
Anime episode— that's about 23 mins break. I'll put this into consideration. I'll experiment with 'My Hero Academia' episodes I have.

For me it's everything that has to do with filming and video editing... I can go on editing for long period...

The secret of the longivity is passion bro...... The love alone for what I do keeps me going not money, because I don't care about money...

I am not exaggerating, I spend over 6hours on video editing... I stay up all night from 11 pm to 4 or 5 am editing video on adobe premiere or typing my books or on the internet scouting for amazon keywords, or on YouTube learning stuff on my filming field...

It's the love that keeps me going bro... Nothing matters more than passion for an interest...

Yeah depends on what you are working on, me I prefer late at night. The odd hours of the night, inspiration flow at those times.

Thanks for the advice. Money really has to be made. Working 3 tough jobs in different time zones with little sleep warrants excessive caffeine.

But why do I think you're right...
Ok, it's relativity. Lol

As for me, I listen to classical music, some other others times I'm listening to SuperDataScience podcast or my favorite novel from @Voiceapp.... Work goes on

I'm a Chemist at OAU.

I'm recently working on a combo of two edible organic constituents in powder and liquid form that works like magic with no side effect at all.

I'll launch the product once ready!

I even code more than 5hrs per day. What gave me that edge was a serene environment that is free from noises and any kind of disturbances.
There is always light and a very good New ASUS Laptop M409BA model of 8Gig Ram and 2 Gig AMD Radeon Graphics card.
Sometimes my neighbours thinks I have travelled because I hardly went out.
Programming is fun at the same challenging. I love it and I like it.

Re: Working Long Hours by techstack: 3:43pm On May 06, 2021
it is the pressure of the job.

Programing entails attending to every detail to the last.

If you miss something, money don lost be that
You must deliver what you have been paid to do.

Get yourself modafinil pill and 7hrs will be like 2hrs. No brain fatigue and you will get insane focus.

Phone will also get you tired and stressed out easily. You should get a machine for this.

After you are done with tutorial videos and lectures. Try and create a project on that programming language and finish the project. Add that project to your Resume. When u feel u are good enough to handle an external project, then start applying. Trust me once u have a timeline on a task for a client or a company, your eyes sometimes, may not close all through the night.

For me it's the motivation and environment. Since I work from home, I have the environment sorted with having a desk.
The motivation is being driven by passion for coding. I do 12 hours stretch, take like 5 hours break, then do wee hours before going to bed. I switch to premium nerd mode if there are deliverables with short deadline.
You also need to be disciplined and understand that problems don't vanish, they get solved through hard work, long work, and smart work.
Re: Working Long Hours by HalpyBee(f): 4:01pm On May 06, 2021
It takes discipline and motivation to work productively for long hours. With those two, you will deal with short attention span.
