Hey guys!
I was going through the thread below and I was impressed and curious at the same time...

https://www.nairaland.com/6519071/remote-work-experiences-remote-worker

How do you guys stay on a particular project/work for at least 5 hours with maximum productivity without getting tired easily? I noticed must of you work long hours like you're computers.
Do you guys take caffeine or any stimulate to keep you charged to work a long time?
I'm been trying to learn some skills with my phone and I gas out easily. I'm not happy about this as I've given myself a timeline to master certain things but it's not pulling through.
How do I work long hours and become effective at the same time?
YOU WOULD MASTER THE ART,IMMEDIATELY YOU LEAVE YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER HOUSE TO BE ON YOUR OWN.

I even code more than 5hrs per day. What gave me that edge was a serene environment that is free from noises and any kind of disturbances.
There is always light and a very good New ASUS Laptop M409BA model of 8Gig Ram and 2 Gig AMD Radeon Graphics card.
Sometimes my neighbours thinks I have travelled because I hardly went out.
Programming is fun at the same challenging. I love it and I like it.
WHICH AREA IS THAT

Re: Working Long Hours by WinterMinter(m): 9:23pm On May 06
How do you do it with your phone?
What phone do you use?
What platform do you get to learn all this?
How do you self practice?
Sorry for the questions,I'm very much interested in learning to

Adverse effects include anxiety, insomnia, nervousness, headaches, nausea etc
Might try it out but I wouldn't wanna get addicted.

Those effects isn't for everyone. Give a try and you will be amazed what you can accomplish.

You should be able to get it at the same drug store/s you got your other supplements from, I got mine from Bulk Supplements though.

Thanks a lot, I'll get it tomorrow morning. I really appreciate your response.

Re: Working Long Hours by yinkeys(m): 10:23pm On May 06
Very hard to stay productive while working on your PC for hours without getting distracted. I know this. Self motivation, accountability & discipline *phew*. If you had buddies doing similar stuffs maybe you guys should always hold each other accountable. Some people are easily self motivated but others aren’t.
Drive/Passion should override it hopefully

Thanks for the advice brother, my present supplement stack include:

I. Wellman
2. Vitamin C 1000mg
3. Zinc 1000mg
4. Fish oil for Omega 3
5. Reload for men (3x a week)
6. Creatine Monohydrate (to retain musculoskeletal mass i.e to prevent muscle wastage from long bouts of seating) etc.

Despite all these, I still feel very weak and tired, I hardly sleep well, the only thing that keeps me going is coffee, coffee itself has lost its potency in my system, I have to drink 6-9 cups per 8hrs of coding. It is not easy.
Bro get yourself a good stem cell supplement. You need to renew your cells..Life is not easy. All the best bro.

For me it's everything that has to do with filming and video editing... I can go on editing for long period...

The secret of the longivity is passion bro...... The love alone for what I do keeps me going not money, because I don't care about money...

I am not exaggerating, I spend over 6hours on video editing... I stay up all night from 11 pm to 4 or 5 am editing video on adobe premiere or typing my books or on the internet scouting for amazon keywords, or on YouTube learning stuff on my filming field...

It's the love that keeps me going bro... Nothing matters more than passion for an interest...

By the way, kindly subscribe to my YouTube channel to check out my short films coming and movie reviews

Programming is a very different activity from video editing. Your advise is commendable but inapplicable. Programming involves high level mental data processing, holding extensive information in short term memory and processing several code pathways simultaneously. There’s a finite amount of time & energy the human brain can engage in such activity daily. For me, on a good day it’s 5 hours max. Not back to back. But split bw 2hr 30mins blocks separated by breaks. Anything longer and I’m just wasting my time. Other days, I don’t even get any work done. You can strive for a daily productive 2-3hrs. You would be amazed by the amount of progress you make if you are consistent.

As for op, check your work habits.
Do you study/code with an empty stomach?
- food helps keep you energized and focus.

Do you study/code at the end of the day or beginner?
- this matters a lot. The beginning of the day has less distractions in general. For the end of the day, your mind is tired and getting ready for bed.

Do you study/code with your phone or distracting websites by your side?
Constantly switching between coding and surfing weakens your ability to focus on getting work done. Eliminate all distractions, you would be surprised at your productivity.

And lastly, avoid drugs. In short term, you might be productive m. In the long term, you are bleeped

I'm about productivity though I feel I need to stretch my learning hours a bit as I'm not satisfied with going 2 hours and losing interest after that period. I'm trying to stretch myself though.
And maybe I haven't been using the right approach and I'm not patient enough cos' I usually Google 'how long' to master a particular skill and get overwhelmed by the feedbacks.
Lastly, I'll experiment with the resting and coming back technique.
Thanks boss

It’s seems your focus threshold is 2hrs. Mine is 2hrs30mins. And that’s quite normal. On average, the human man cannot focus on work for more than 3hours at a time. Here’s what you can do. Have two session - one in the morning and another in the evening. Bothe 2hrs, that’s a total of 4hrs. You should make good progress with that time.

It's just the passion

Passion is very unreliable. Instead, focus on having a consistent schedule with no distraction. You'd be surprised how much progress you will make. If you wait for passion or inspiration, you would not get anything done.

Thanks for the advice. Money really has to be made. Working 3 tough jobs in different time zones with little sleep warrants excessive caffeine.

Be careful. Your current work habit is unsustainable. You don't want to break down mentally. Na who dey alive dey enjoy life.

Nothing beats a quiet, serene environment. However, can you elaborate more? Do you code for 5hrs nonstop or do you take breaks? The devil is in the details.

Maybe you should try using a laptop to learn the skill and also, don’t make the mistake most starters make in learning a new skill I.e trying to do 10 hours daily right from the very first day of learning the skill. Just go with your pace and start as low as 1hour or 30 mins daily and increase it gradually.

In learning any new skill, consistency is the secret to mastering the skill. Learning the skill 30mins every day is far more productive and better than learning it 15hours once a week.

That daily consistency will make your brain to fall in love with the new skill you are learning and you will start enjoying the new skill and become addicted to it.

Try this approach and you will be very proud of ur self after few months but don’t forget to give God all the glory

This is an underrated and quite solid advice!!! I spoke about this on an earlier post. Consistency is key. You don't need 5 or 10hrs. If you can work consistently for 2-3hrs daily, you would be amazed by the level of progress you make.

This post makes me feel people are lazy. I work non stop for 10hours on standing while doing dreads for people.
When I do graphics, I do from morning till night, when I'm sewing cloths I do from morning till night with only short breaks for prayers and when I'm not praying, then its a non stop till I finish.
I remember when i was in university, When I read, I read for 24hours with short breaks for solat and water.
If its by hardwork,I should be a billionaire by now,but I'm still not. Being wealthy ain't by hardwork

The jobs that you have listed do not require any strenuous mental capacity. And as such, even though i understand you are exaggerating yet possible telling the truth, your examples hold no relevance here. Coding is a different beast entirely. It's one of the most mentally exhausting work you can do. It might not be physical but it's quite hard.

I agree with everything you said except the word luck you mentioned. I am anti-luck person because its more of a negative than positive.
Meanwhile, non of those would make me a billionaire or even a millionaire. Would just keep me among average earners which I dislike, I'm currently ruminating on ideas that would make me a billionaire, if you have better suggestion, kindly give. Also, please don't mention prayers or any old beliefs that never worked for any Nigerian. I'm a realist

Bro, please change your perception. Luck is a result of healthy and positive affirmation and believe that positive events would come into your life. If you hold the believe that you are "anti-luck", you are in effect attracting unpleasant experiences into your life since you expect them to happen anyways. So, change your mindset. Believe you are lucky. Do things that increase your chances of success and you would be surprised at the outcome.

I am just beginning the journey into the world of data science. I am trying to summon all the will power I can.

Will power is not enough. Have a plan. Draw out a study plan, allocate daily study hours and get the required resources to help you study.
if you wait for will power, you no go ever start.

that's unfortunately kinda hard for me. I can't really concentrate for a long

Pay attention to your surrounding. Do you have your phone with you when you are "studying"? Cell phones are major distractions. Additionally, check your diet. Studying with an empty stomach is a recipe for disaster.

I mean it depends, my motivation is simple, I like Good life, to live good life I must earn well, to earn well I must have a good job, to have a good job, I must be technically skilled, to be technically skilled I must work long hours. I like writing code, but as long as money is involved, and the money makes sense, the motivation will come.

Play Good music: Lo-fi, something relaxing

then Passion too plays a factor.

You literally spoke typed my mind without mincing words.

Get a life

Don't let any job take away your health. It's really not worth it. If you abuse your body right now cos you're young, the older you will pay the loan

Your perception became your reality and that doesn't mean the World runs like that, you need to change your mindset to a positive one.

The race is not to the swift, it may be a Bible passage but It works in every form of life even as an Atheist, It simply means you put in work and pray for luck. I know Junior Software Engineers that are being hired in Germany from Nigeria and people ask how? They are simply at the right place at the right time.

As @yusufu16 have said, If you are very good at what you do and you have the right attitude, anything you do will fetch you millions.
The way your dum**b self talk amazes me, I'm not a millionaire doesn't mean I'm not richer than you. I do not belong to your gangs of illusions, your wishes hasn't make you become anything. Get the hell outta my mention

It has been a 2 years now. I developed Android application but not yet get to a professional stage. It just seriousness and dedication. Thank God I live in an area where their is 80% steady Electricity power. Programming without light and internet access is sometimes frustrating.
My resources are
developer.android.com
YouTube
Kotlin.com
If you really want to become a programmer you must have interest in it because the road to attain professional stage is rough and challenging.
Sometimes you write codes for hours it wouldn't work and you need to fix those buggs, sometimes you get bored and tired. sometimes it's fun when what you're doing is working fine and sometimes not.
I code in Kotlin.

It's not by how long. I was studying two hours or thereabout and still scoring higher than people that went for 6-8 hours.
