I've Just Been Duped, HELP ME!!! by Elistho(m): 11:46am On May 10, 2021
Good day Nairalanders.

Please before coming to read this thread, I'm sure

I took up a work as a POS attendant.

Just today, at about 9am in the morning, I was in good spirits and working, I wanted to make much commission for my boss today to make him happy.

A rogue looking young man came in to my work place, looking dirty and smelling of cigarettes.

He told me he wants to make a deposit of 90 thousand naira. Hearing the amount, I was elated because I knew I'll collect a commission of 900 naira, that's a lot of money for my boss.

I counted the money and it amounted to 90 thousand naira complete,I told him the commission, he bargained the price and I didn't accept, I gave his money back to him, he contemplated for a while and returned the money back to me with full commission.

I made the transaction of 90k, he left, before putting the money in my bag, I decided to make confirmations, all of a sudden, I counted the money and it wasn't complete again, instead of 90k, I saw 64k.

In short, he duped me the sum of 26,000.

Please who can help??
I'm in tears

Go to the bank immediately.. they should be able to reverse the transaction or block his account before he makes any withdrawal

It's not my business, I'm working for my boss.

He doesn't care whatever.

I'm just required to pay.

He isn't showing any concern
He's just indifferent shocked

The little while he went away to contemplate was the time he reduced the money.
Not by any diabolic means.

Why don't you count the money after you got it from him again. What you lost is nearly the profit on the POS business for months

If you are not smart in POS business you will be having shortage. It seems you didn't count the money before carrying out the transaction the second time.
The former restaurant I worked some years back, some dubious customers who came to eat asked for POS to make payment. One of them brought out his old looking atm card and slot it in.The transaction declined and instead of him to give me the pos to check,he printed out his customer copy and removed his atm card and gave me the pos.I sensed scam.He didn't even allow me to print my merchant copy.I asked him for his copy.Gbam! Declined.I told him the transaction was declined. They have to dipped their hands into their pockets and gather #10k to pay me.

I just went there, sad, he has made withdrawal's already.

But the bank man was kind enough to offer me his digits, although it's switched off.

Laziness didn't allowed you to count the money again, and I know if you went to ATM stand to withdraw after machine disperse wouldn't you recounts

You guys should learn to count the money given to you at least three times before giving out the goods.

If the customer changes his mind and come back again, take your time and count the money again

If you are dealing with money, you don't rush. That's why at times it seems the cashiers are slow when we go inside the banking hall

90k and 64k doesn't look the same.. If it's 1k note it should be noticeable instantly. If it's 500 too... Only 100 naira or 200 naira note fit look almost the same

Funny how people are quick to assume he/she didn't recount the money, let me share an encounter of a colleague of which happened right in my presence. He wanted to change some dollar, after negotiations they agreed on the exchange rate. The exchange guy brought out the agreed amount but with a difference of 1k, my colleague counted twice and still the same 1k difference.
He told the guy about the difference and the exchange guy requested he return so he can recount himself, after counting he acknowledge there's a difference of 1k which he gladly offered and even begged that we give him #200 to eat (note: cash was recounted again and complete). Moving ahead a bit some guys approached us that we should recount the cash, lo and behold a difference of 15k discovered, the other guys had a difference of 36k.
So how do we explain this?

You should have reconfirm the money when he gave it back to your.

Anyways write your bank to flag the account

I have just been duped now... A young looking guy approached my shop and said he would transfer to me 65k in order for me to give cash. I was really excited and I charged him 700 and he didn't even debate about it, I then gave him my account number and within a twinkle of an eye he transfered the money to me.
The transfer showed successful, I didn't have enough cash to give him so I gave him 20k in agreement with him that we would exchange numbers and I will quickly rush to an ATM and withdraw the balance. It worked like magic...as soon as I gave him I didn't see him again after few minutes his line was switched off. I know my mistake was give him the 20k, but I did see an alert. I have duped!! where will I see 20k to give my boss. Eh!!!

This same thing happened to me years ago. He deliberately made the money short by 1k, when I returned it back to him to confirm, he switched it with another bundle that was short by about 13k. Then did as if was counting the money and said yes... its short by 1k, and he added the 1k to it. Na inside moto i realized. Initially i said he used juju, but when i played the scene back in my head, I realized he must have switched the bundle of money.
