I’m deeply sorry for keeping you waiting. I work almost 6 days a week. I usually post anytime I’m back from work. But I’m free today.

Let me run everything at once so you can enjoy the fun.

Ok.........

It was time to come back to portharcourt from Abuja, so I got to the airport as usual and did the same thing. My flight was scheduled by 4:30pm to arrive in portharcourt by 5:20pm. We did the normal boarding pass and all that. But This time i was asked to pull my shoes. I pulled my shoes and it was scanned as well. ( I can’t remember if I did this shoe thing in portharcourt. Probably I did but I’ve forgotten. Lols. Ok.....). When it passed through the conveyor, my bag was scanned. Before I knew it the officer alerted other officers that I had perfumes. They asked me if I had and I responded confidently. They asked me to bring it out (politely). I did bring it out and handed it to them. Then I asked them if they’re seizing it or what? Then they smiled and told me NO that If I must go with it I must go back to another compartment where my bag will be thoroughly searched. I just weak. Looking at the time, it was already 4:20pm. I knew that alone would take a long time and possibly make me miss the announcement of my flight. Na so I leave the perfume for them o. As I leave that place dey go waiting hall to sit down Na so I see one big and transparent sack wey contain different brand of perfumes. I won die for laugh. Like; does it mean the decision I made was long made by others before now? I just shook my head and went to sit down. 10 minutes later our flight was announced ( the lady that announced the flight was very loud. Even the deaf would here. Very nice public address system, unlike the portharcourt lady. You barely hear what she’s saying unless you bring your ears down. I no know whether na formings o. Or abi she no chop belle food). Na joke o. Lols.....

Ok. We got queued up and left the hall for the plane waiting and steaming for us. This time I used arik air.

We got into the plane. This time my ticket number was seat number 23A. Holla! Window seat!

A is always a window seat. The other side is either D or F. But from what I vividly used me eyes to see was D because it’s areanged DEF and not FED. ( for a two roll passenger plane but I don’t know for a three row passenger plane because I’ve not entered that one. Maybe when I’m finally traveling out!).

There was a song playing in the background while we were seated waiting for other passengers. It was like an interlude. No voice. Just an instrumental. I decided to ask Siri ( for iPhone users) what was playing and I got the name of the instrumental ( HORIZON). That’s the name.

It played for about 20 minutes.

We were all seated and the plane was set to leave. The pilot came out ( A Nigerian ) and said he’s sorry we have to wait for extra 20 minutes because the weather back in portharcourt is pretty harsh with thunderstorms and it won’t be safe to fly.

On hearing this I start to boil inside me like; portharcourt and rain. Ha! Nawa o. Rivers state! Lols. And while we were there sef sun dey shine badly for Abuja around 5:00pm to the point I closed or slide the window blind of the plane. Although the plane was on and the doors were shot. We continued waiting.

Another pilot again ( this time a white guy) also announced that we should wait for another 20 minutes. Na so we wait till 2 hours pass. We still Dey on. Plane still Dey steam. I come dey ask..... who knows how much aviation fuel this plane don consume without flying at all.

Finally Around 6:15pm they announced that the plane can leave now and the weather is clearer, they can now receive signals, bla bla bla. And we’d be leaving soon but they’d want to refill the tank of the plane ( because we waited for two good hours with the plane on while we were waiting inside. Trust me. The AC was chilling well).

When the tanker came I looked at this tanker coming towards us for the refill. Where I come respect plane be say that thing called tanker became like a small child to the plane. You can’t compare their size. The plane is just too big as compared to this tanker we usually fear on the road. After 20 minutes the top up was over.

At about 6: 45pm ( imagine from 4:30 to 6:45pm). We flew out of the airport.

About 25 minutes into the cloud it was already dark. Usually they turn the lights off in the plane obviously for reasons I don’t know. But from time to time they’d on it and off it again.

I looked out of the window and started seeing lightening below the clouds. Then I believed we were approaching south east or south south and probably the heavy rain in portharcourt they announced. I continued seeing the lightening below and I discovered that the rain wasn’t touching the plane. I didnr see any rain drops by the window or any body’s window. I became confused and was asking how is this possible? The plane was above the cloud and so it’s only people below the clouds that see this rain and not people up there. Them no know wetin Dey happen for ground... lols... I kept looking down and seeing this lightening down.

...........The Turbulence........

As usual, the pilot announced that in few minutes we’d be experiencing a turbulence. So I didn’t border since I experienced it using Max air. So arik air shouldn’t be different. Little did I know that the weather was fair at the first trip than now.

We got to the turbulence, my God! This plane start to dey act funny. The shaking was too much! See vibration. Everybody sleeping in the plane woke up. Na so I Dey bounce for my seat. And night don reach. God! I started thinking....... ordinary to travel by road for night dey somehow then talk more of traveling by air. I was not even thinking of being stranded in the air. There won’t be chance for that. You’d even wished you didn’t fly at all.

Na so the plane start to dey shake pass before. The vibration started worsening. Before I knew it the plane started facing down with speed. Ha! God what is this ooooo! Na so I come dey tight my palm. The plane kept tilting downwards for a long time. I started feeling the pilot had lost control. See people just dey look. In my mind I knew people were just keeping calm. Otherwise the next move would have prompted people to shout or cry or do something funny. Small time we started seeing the earth. Seeing houses a little. And finally the plane stopped shaking and leveled again. At this time we were out form the cloud.

Now I discovered something about the pilots action. I discovered that if he had remained in the cloud with that turbulence something funny would have happened so he decided to come down a little below the cloud before the funny experience ended.

Not too long ( about 20 minutes later ) they announced that we are approaching the portharcourt international airport, omagwa. That we should tighten our seatbelts bla bla bla...... for my mind I come dey ask. Who would loosen his seatbelt at that kind of experience?

Soon enough the plane started tilting down and the buildings started appearing bigger and bigger until we started seeing the airport from a glance. We landed on the runway at about 7:35 pm and so everywhere wet. That wa when our window was now having the rain droplets. Otherwise up there there was no rain on us. So after everything the planes sound started reducing. Omo.... the kind of breathe I took was enough to resurrect someone who fainted! It was still raining so we waited for the airport shuttle buses came to pick us where we were in the plane. The air hostess announced we should leave one after the other. Trust Nigerians. See how them Dey run from back to the front to chance people to comot for plane. I no fit laugh. Nigerians are really the most difficult people on earth. The crew member shout tire. Lie lie no be Naija people you dey talk to. Na so plane change to market place. I quietly waited so people won’t call me for plane wey I no believe say e go carry me reach house.

We got out of the plane straight to te luxurious bus that took us in the rain from where the aircraft was parked to the arrival hall because it was a bit far and it was raining.

So I got in, clenched my belongings checked out and took the available Uber back home.

To sit down for my chair for house sef come dey fear me because I’d think I’m still in that wonderful machine called a plane.

As I reach work I no talk to anybody because they don’t know what this guy typing this thing passed through.

Since I’d be making another trip shortly there’s nothing to fear again. Flying is fun but for the first time you’d feel a little scared but I tell you it’s a life experience.

I’d be posting a straight topic of my international travel but I no go delay like this. Make una no vex. Na my work cause am. One love!

Turbulence dont crash plane but it make the journey discomfort for the passengers. It just like as driver dont like pot holes so does pilot dont like turbulence. Turbulence occurs when a plane is flying against the wind or air in the atmosphere. Las las now train journey smooth pass oh
