Britain withdrew it's armies from the region- infact part of the Arab league troops that will fight the war against isreal where initially operating under the command of Britain.
The jordan army was commanded by british forces.

The USA withdrew it's support for the UN resolution that created Isreal once the war started and didn't send any troop to help

India was part of the Muslim coalition then and the soviet union still getting over 1m service men lost in world war two couldn't do shit.
Isreal survived the onslaught because the Jews had hidden arm factories and millitia groups of course,the fear of a second genocide made them fight like mad.

even history didn't start in 1517.
