tensazangetsu20: Data science is unique is not meant for everyone, it is easy to spot a web developer and it easy to spot me...cus HTML, CSS, bootstrap, WordPress, ...I can write handle all this... Back to saturation, imagine negotiating a portfolio site for 50-100k and another uncertified developer is billing for 5k -10k for same job f As for the data science, by 2030...this skill will become most wanted or requires skill...cus...this skill can function in all field... including medicine, oil drilling firm, engineer, business etc 1 Like |

Ugaboy:Bros even wordpress isn't as easy as you make it seem. All the 10k guy is doing is downloading pirated themes and installing them shikena. Core wordpress involves writing your own code and it's a very indemand skill. The white house government website is made with wordpress. Teslas site Is down with Drupal. Data science is overhyped honestly. I know it's importance to using numbers to make business related decisions but business must first occur for a data scientist to be relevant na. A company starting up today will need a web developer more than they would need a data scientist. Besides, aside even working for companies how can a data scientist make money on their own? Data science is not a bad field but it's overhyped. 1 Like |

Meel:none sir, the few ones i see and envy a little bit works for federal government and someone like me that i don't have connections. I might end up earning peanut in a private organization. That's why i want to dedicate 5yrs of my life learning programming, and as for motivation, if i think about the fact that i can't face my parent to tell them, i wasted their money, will always motivate to make it in programming, at least if i make it and I'm getting jobs, and later tell them i used the money to study programming and getting paid for it, they won't feel disappointed. |

[quote author=bercarray post=101785235]Hello nairalanders, I'm working currently as a laboratory technician, but my parents wants me to further more for medical laboratory science course in university. Seeing the way technology is moving, I've decided to go into IT, which is the reason i want to use the money I'm supposed to use to study MLS to go into programming, instead of using 5yrs studying MLS, that's even if ASUU did not extend it to 6 or 7years, i want to dedicate this 5-6yrs of my life into programming( web development and other parts of programming maybe application software development also). I've also decided to go to teach myself first online, and later If you can, enter Cameroon at worst year 2 with direct entry so you quickly finish. If you like too, you can license in Cameroon and still return to Nigeria to join your professional body with the license you get from Cameroon. |

And all these people asking you to combine medical studies with IT when you are not yet a professional in either field, will kill you before your time. They don't know what they are saying. Changing course within the larger IT isn't that easy if you are beginner. Choose a career, build expertise, gain experience, earn money from your sweat before thinking of switching to another. Focus is key. But what exactly is driving you? Is it money? 2 Likes |
