My Opinion: I am a very strong Messi supporter. I hope he wins it but to be objective, I would give it to De bruyne ahead of Mbappe who is a strong favourite. Sometimes in football, the attackers are usually favourite ahead of defenders hence the choice of a defender in the list. The goals would change from those figures but let's model using the figures

I believe Mbappe is the front runner for the B'Dor cos he had the best individual performance in the UCL this season and getting to the semis also counts for something. Remember Messi won despite being eliminated at the semis in 2019 because he had the best individual performance that UCL season.

De Bruyne is also a strong contender if he puts up a strong showing in the final and Man City wins the UCL, he can usurp Mbappe.

Don't think Lewy will win as he was eliminated from the UCL too early and did not have same impact as Mbappe even in the games he participated.

Messi and Ronaldo are outsiders in the running.

The Euros and Copa will likely still play a deciding factor and can catapult Messi or CR into front runners, or cement the existing front runners stake for the ultimate prize.
