How much value is the cleaner adding to society.

You ppl and ur poverty mentality.

My guy went to UK to do masters back in the day, after doing masters the only steady job he could get was menial work. he could not survive corporate world they were firing him left and right.

Spending all that money to do masters and UK corporate world is tough espeically with heavy naija accent.

The guy abandon his menial work and came back to naija.
He don build house now all the other foilks in the UK still dey do their menial job.

Is that life?

Nigeriais bad we know but remeber we all die eventually.

Unless u are a footballer or in medical field UK is a waste of time and life

Good dey guys..... I was discussing with a friend of mine. He wants to move out of the country(uk) but his parents are trying to cajole him to stay ( he’s from a well to do family and they are financially capable)

His plan is after nysc he would go for masters and find his way.

He is 21 and currently serving (he’s field is IT)
But the issue is that his parent are trying to fine tune his head to stay (he’s the last born)

Their excuse is that
1) you would do menial jobs there
2) there is nothing there
3) even if you get a good job there, it’s difficult to rise as a black man
4) you will be lonely

Their main bone of contention is that there is nothing there.
Note: his dad and 4 other siblings out of 5 studied in the uk tho.

My friend doesn’t even want to stay atall, most of his friend are in the uk, he doesn’t have friends in Nigeria except a few. He doesn’t like going out because he said his mind is not in Nigeria. If you see him ehn you will know that he’s depressed. All he wants is to move to the uk.

(2 of his siblings have been in the UK SINCE early 2000’s and are already citizens)

The dad also isn’t saying he should not go, but after service, he should get a job first probably with Goverment (due to job security because his dad retired with the government) then work 2-3 years before going for his master.

His point his that he wants to go now that the funds and everything is intact. What if something should happen in future nko?

My advice for him his to leave immediately after service after all he has siblings who are in their early 40’s there to put him through and also a lot of family friends there

I visited several times and stayed for months on one occasion. I took issue with the specific claim that there is no social life. Of course there is. You can play football, go to games, eat out, go see a movie, visit a bar etc.

You may not appreciate these activities but don't say there is not social life. Why must you use your gadgets in a manner that would disturb your neighbors before you know that you are enjoying social life sir?

I wouldn't.advise anyone to move there for work coz its not easy to assimilate, yes. But claiming there is no social life is wrong.

Who ll play football/drink in that horrible weather except professional footballers who have no choice than to do what they had already signed for.

The weather is too bad for anyone from Africa-Nigeria to enjoy anything outdoors in UK. You ll need to wear about 3 clothes with big heavy jacket just to eat out but in Nigeria all you need is your shirt.

Parking and congestion charge are another problems one must take into account before venturing out

I don’t know if you have lived in a white dominated area before like Bromley South, you ll realise that no matter how low your Hifi stereo is, these bastards ll still find something to say. Even my mum was shocked when she came around and heard them complaining about my stereo. Guess what! Again, it comes down to your personal preferences.

The weather might be an issue for some but me I enjoyed it plus inside the house was well-heated so no need for wearing layers of clothing.

I also played football throughout, with county league teams. In winter the only time we didn't play was when the pitch was water logged. Yes, it could be uncomfortable and if you don't wear gloves your fingers will ache when you get in, but it was still fun for me.

Parking can't be your issue when England has such an efficient public transport system. Besides this is you complaining about the cost of social life, not that there is none. So if you can afford it, England does have a great social scene.

I lived in Bradford and our home was detached so no reason for neighbors to come complaining.
