Dude, you need to be smarter.

There's currently no JF-17 in service anywhere in the world that uses an AESA radar.

Nigeria has bought 3 units of JF-17 Block II.

The JF-17 is a 4 GEN fighter jet.

You don't have any information or intel which is not publicly available.

Stop been ridiculous.

The NAF JF-17 is a 4.5 GEN Jet. Pls be specific. The pilot is a seasoned aviator to know enough not to say otherwise in world view.

Cockpit's of 5th Generation fighter jets are usually classified.

The F-22 cockpit used to be classified.

The SU-57 and J-20 cockpits are still classified.

The JF-17 is a light weight fighter jets, all information about this aircraft including what it's cockpit looks like is generally open information.

It's a capable jet, but it's not a high end fighter like the SU-30 or MIG-29.

In fact NAF already showed what the Jet's cockpit looks like in their recently released documentary.

That documentary showed you installation and activation modules not the active cockpit. The important aspects of this Jet are still classified. You can't claim anything to the contrary.

The only 4.5 JF-17 available anywhere in the world is a flying prototype currently stationed at Catic in China.

It's not in the Pakistani air force, Chinese Air Force and certainly not in Nigeria.

That pilot was wrong to refer to the JF-17 as a 4.5 gen aircraft.

Hmmmmm... So should we believe kabe or the Nigerian air force pilot that is flying the jet?
If the pilot is wrong then it's a disgrace to the air force that its pilot don't know the type of aircraft he was trained to fly. Like that should be a basic 101 knowledge in his training course for this jet

Even the Pakistanis don't fly any 4.5gen jf 17

The job of a pilot is likened to the job of a doctor. Any small mistake is disastrous.

If this is true then that pilots training should be questioned and he should be returned to train afresh.

Really, are you serious, how dare you! Kabe1 just claimed on Nairaland a fighter pilot don't know the machine he is flying and he kabe1 knows better. Well thank God I have enough sense to know you have just made a full time mockery of yourself before the whole world. Therefore your assertion is not only wrong, amateurish, ignoble, ignorant but patently irrelevant and of no consequence. You can accept what works in your world to sleep.

That fighter pilot migrated from the F7-Ni to the JF-17N Thunder and knows exactly what he is saying without mincing words and I believe him totally. When you graduate first from basic flying and prove it then I'll listen to you. Right now you are nothing more than just an internet military enthusiast who is ignorant.

The jf17 block 3 is classified as a 4.5 generation fighter. Nigeria bought block jf17A block 2s which isn't a 4.5 gen fighter.

The pilot effed up. Simple

There's no viper killed. The NAF JF-17 is a 4.5 Gen cadre said the NAF fighter pilot himself flying it. I don't know why anyone would have a problem with that except that because it has a Nigerian tag with it. Last I checked I have no proof of you been an aviator in any measure. I'd take the word of the pilot anyday anytime.

I am not an aviator but lets call a spade a spade. The JF17 block 2 is a good aircraft but it isn't a Gen 4.5. I might not be an aviator but even the Pakistanis say it.

Those three aircrafts delivered to NAF are 4.5 generation aircraft, it was delivered on specifications, just confirmed from an instructor. Subsequent deliveries which have been negotiated for are Block 11 and 4th generation Aircrafts.

LOL you amaze me bro. hahahah. So a pilot can't make a mistake due to being carried away by the euphoria of the ceremony. Some is telling you a the only JF17 considered as Gen 4.5 is block 3 not block 2 and you still argue. the only block 3 manufactured is still been tested. Show which article would call a JF17 block 2 a 4.5 gen aircraft. Soon you would start comparing those JF17s with SAAF SAAB Gripen.LOL

Do they have AESA radars?

j17 with nigeria airforce is being built on specification. and that was the major reason they was a increase in cost. some of you lack some simple understanding , if the former cas say the j17 is an advance version , than who are you on narialand without a military or civilian background of jet or aircraft

Really another ignorance on full display. Listen there's a lot of politics and marketing that goes into weapon sales. Your detractors want to downplay what you sell, the Americans, Chinese and Russians and contractors are all in the game. You are not a professional so quit copying and pasting. There's more than meets the eye in these matters. No unbiased expert will say the JF-17 Block 11 is a pure 4th Gen Aircraft. It is much more and in this case what Nigeria bought is not anyone's business but because its Nigeria now all the hype and bring the world down mentality. Myanmar bought didn't hear all this noise. And pls don't mention the SAAF Gripen it doesn't come close except you want to argue with yourself.

The basics of that is what the fighter pilot just told you. AESA in lay mans terms simply means more difficult to counter and detect doesn't mean multi-mode doppeler radar is any less effective in air superiority warfare.

The Pakistanis came up with an upper hand recently in aerial combat with the Indians.

LoL so I must be a phone technician before knowing a difference between an Iphone and a samsung eh oga. I am asking if those JF17 have AESA radars? Advance datalink?
Everywhere we read, it is said the only variant of the JF17 considered as gen 4.5 is the block 3, which is not yet operational and it is still tested in China.
The radar used on the JF17 block 2 is the KLJ-7 V2, which is an upgrade of the KLJ-7 used in the block 1. THe KLJ-7-V2 is still a mechanically-steered planar array antenna and not an AESA. The KLJ-7 V2 is twice more powerful that the KLJ-7 and provides more fuctions and is more resistant to ECM.
We are not saying the JF17 block 2 is bad but lets call a spade a spade bro.

What is the point of this rant?

The JF-17 is classified across the world as a light weight 4th generation aircraft.

This designation would not change until the block 3 enters service.

LoL an AESA radar is 10 times more effective than a mechanically-steered planar array. How can you say something which is hard to detect, has a better range in BVR mode, and more functionalities aren't better. Why are most aircraft upgrading to AESA or PESA radars. Because it provides better range, low detectability, less prone to failures, demands less maintenance between flights and is better resistant to ECM. Even the Pakistani say it themselves, the only GEn 4.5 is block 3. what more do you want to hear. The Americans or whosoever you have called are not biased because the definition of a gen 4.5 is global.

The KLJ-7 V2 has a range of 150 km in optimal conditions while the Ericsson PS-05/A is at 160km in optimal condition. the Thai airforce was able to defeat chinese J-11(modified su-27) in BVR exercises. Th ose J-11 used the NIIP N001 radar which bears similarities with the KLJ-7.
Leaving Radar aside, there are other aspects which the Gripen beats the JF17.

Anyhow we are not experts
