The neighbours of a building on fire resorted to prayers to put out the fire. The efficacy and power of word based, faith packed prayers is limitless but this secnario just reminds me of the Nigerian Mentality.

We pray about things God has actually given us brains to fix. We pray for good leaders, we pray for Power distribution companies to bring light, we pray to get visa out of the country, I bet some here, pray to be the FTC on Nairaland posts. I strongly believe prayer should be a supernatural backing to the actual work in progress.

Our leaders are a product of the human development of the followers. Nigeria is a product of its citizens. The bandits, the militants, the kidnappers, the Yahoo boys we are now praying about were probably once on the streets, no education, no training. Nigerians breed like pigs without plans for how the children will be provided for.

And then like these women, when the fire starts, we pray.

We pray for our daily bread and then become atheists when God does not prepare a table before us as if God lied when God is written to have said:

"Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Which means, do not be a lazy fuq!

And,

"In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return."

Which means, lazy fuqs will surely die.

I guess when hunger catch some people they will get off their lazy asses and bless themselves or die for their lack of getting knowledge and wisdom and understanding.
