I understand your points now, that's the reason why, I will rather have hope Uzodinma than Ihedioha. Hope hasn't really gone on demolition spree, rather he is trying to put those structures to use.

if onitsha has more 10 storey buildings, land would have been freed up for others aspects of development. secondly traffic indicipline and bad transport infrastructure is the major cause of traffic jam in Nigeria.

Onitsha is the way it is because it's all private land. Gov put a cap on the height of buildings so every building is as tall as legally possible. If you change the height limit to 10 (from the current 5-6). The jump from 2-3 to 5-6 as the norm created a lot of challenges in Onitsha and they did that to solve those problems. If you change the limit to 10, within 4 years all of the buildings in Onitsha will be 8-10.

So I'm saying if you reverse that action, and reopen those issues (one of them traffic), what's the solution for the problems it will then create? Traffic indiscipline is one thing but if you have 20,000 indiscipline people driving to one place, then change it to 40,000, you will have to be ready for what that implies.

Development solves a problem and brings another, so the question I'm asking you is the questions you should be asking yourself when you look at new ideas. Nigeria doesn't have a development issue, Nigeria gets 'development' but doesn't solve the problems that comes with it. We have bottle manufacturing but few recycling companies for example.

who is demolishing the iconic roundabouts Rochas built? even his new design could be done without bringing down those landmarks.
who brought down a hospital Rochas built?
who threatened to demolish the best estate in imo over the claim that it was built on waterways?

sue should be cost, is there a way that we can build a highrise and rent it out at affordable cost ?? is there a way to provide better independent electricity for our States ?and that leads us back to the only question- when will we. get revolutionary leaders like mbakwe again ?

Someone did something similar in the properties section of Nairaland, though his was a 4/5 storey mini flats he wanted to sell in units, unfortunately, by the time he was rounding up, someone stepped up and bought everything. From that thread, I discovered its actually possible to build such and still.give it out at reasonable and profitable rates.

However, for 10-15 storeys, electricity becomes the MAJOR challenge, cos I'll expect such building to make use of an elevator among other things

Concorde Hotel, Rockview Hotel, Beland Hotels and this ongoing one are all 7 to 9 storey buildings. If they were built in same zone it would have turned out a good skyline. My point is that the highrises could be Hotels instead of corporate offices and apartments like Lagos.

As for the tunnels, only the one at house of assembly junction was demolished, which one side of it was not fully covered like the ojukwu tunnel at concord boulevard. Owerri people wanted their market returned, that's why the hospital was demolished to give way for a modern market which is at advanced stage now though PPP, as for Royal Palm estate, it was political grandstanding that's all, non of Rochas assets has been seized including his foundation at orji which was clearly former IBC.
The only property hope took was eastern palm university which Rochas okorocha willy gave up covertly, because it was a public university according to NUC.

To build 2 or 3, 9 to11 story building
In strageically places like new owerri (pH road)
Or that assumpta cathedral side
To give the city a beautiful outlook
