My worry is, how could 300 armed group move around in a state where there's an ongoing military operation and there's no confrontation from the military. I'm sure there's to this Boko Haram insurgency that the government is hiding.

this report is quite revealing. Imagine boko haram sending kids and teenagers abroad to acquire training not only as militants but as doctors, civil engineers, ict professionals etc. This is an eye opener to those wrong notions in some quarters that boko haram are mostly illiterates.

btw, AFP is a credible source, so i believe in the authenticity of this report.

No they are not. It's a battle of supremacy. Since BH refuse to join them and they refuse to join BH, a fight will generate. Both have different approach. BH targets soft victims like civilians, while the other targets military. Both are fighting for an islamic country. When they are done, they will start creating the state and defending it or expanding it.

All I see here is a battle between fulanis(Iswap) and Kanuri(Boko-haram).

But it will be deadely,because kanuri's can never ban for fulbe's(fulani),only hausa will ban for fulani.

Fulanis also have herdsmen and bandits,I doubt kanuri's can withstand this fulbe's this time.

Fulanis want to conquer kanuris at all cost.

Hausa's and other native people of northern nigeria form your own groups.

Apart from some tribes in the middlebelt,Kanuris are the only people fulanis fears and respect.Danfodio was unable to conquer them.

They are worse than Boko Haram in every aspect. They aren't killing civilians indiscriminately because they want more foot soldiers. When they have taken a large chunk of territory, they will start slaughtering people who disagree with them like they did in Syria.

Over 300 ISWAP fighters ranging from age 12 - 30 were able to launch an attack against Shekau's sambisa forest stronghold, fight and battle him for days and eventually killed him without the need for fighter jets. Nigeria army with matured soldiers, trillions of naira allocation, fighter jets, generals, special ops cops, navy seals, thousands of soldiers and all, have not been able to penetrate the sambisa enclave for over 9 years, let alone talk of defeating Shekau... If this news is not embarrassing to our military, I wonder what else will embarrass them. ��

They're both Kanuris and in the very least all Bornouan by heritage. No Fulanis here. Look at the names of the iswap commander, sulum and duguri ? That's Borno. Not fulani. The core of the group has always been led by Bornouans.

Fulani have no stake in NE terrorism...most fulani and hausa in the lake chad region are actually fish businessmen, who are largely despised by native competitors for being more capitalized. Even the rearing of the bulby horned cattle there is done by natives, the buduma. Those r the ppl that are now allies of the terrorists. because they've been sold the idea of liberation from second hand status in their own land, by the terrorists.
