Courtney Dike's case is very different.


The reason that Courtney did not accept the reward money was because she was playing for Oklahoma State University (OSU Cowgirls) at the time and the NCAA (the US version of NUGA) has strict rules about amateur university players receiving money for playing sports. Many university athletes in the US have been unable to compete because they received some form of monetary reward for performing.

She has played for Nigeria several times after that and she even competed in the 2015 World Cup.

However, she was absent for a long time and that was because she was studying for her masters degree and CPA certification. She played for Nigeria in 2019, but she has been absent again because she is working full time as an accountant in New York.

Desire Oparanozie's name is missing. She has been frozen out of the team since leading a protest over bonuses and pay during the 2019 World Cup in France. It has been alleged that some members of the NFF are keeping her out of the team to punish her for leading that protest. It was also alleged that the former coach, Thomas Dennerby resigned because he refused to allow anybody interfere with his team selection (that is, to exclude Oparanozie from the team)



it has always be NFF tradition to froze players out.....Sunday Oliseh, Tijani Babangida and the rest of them. So players can't express themselves again cos of their own selfish interest in that so called glass house
