From my personal observation he is suffering from some type of dementia which is why his speeches are very short and he is constantly going for medical check-ups.

it is his prerogative to attend or not. Attending sets a precedence, soon you'll hear he attended that of a Muslim but refused that of a Christian or that that he is selective, he only attends that of the army etc. all sorts of rubbish. Nigeria is a very diverse country where it is difficult to please everyone or anyone. so, it is better not to start what you cannot end. attending will not bring the man back.
