NwaforIgbo: Lagos was built up by a commonwealth. This is one reason the goons who shout restructure of Nigeria are bunch of insincere dingbats. The defunct Eastern and Midwestern regions need Lagos or Abuja before the silly talk of restructure can begin to breath. The simple remedy to the decadence called Nigeria is unconditional disintegration. 3 Likes |

NwaforIgbo:Don't over-hype lagos .Much of Lagos is battling same problem we have in the East.Unless we make away with this unitary government, no SE city will be like that in 50 years time. Don't you see that the only places in Nigeria (lagos & Abuja)which can be compared to some developed cities world wide are the cities that has had Federal funds dedicated to developing them ? And that is why lagos is pushing to be recognized as a special status state. If Nigeria have had a president who can devote 1 trillion Naira for 4 consecutive years on Infrastructure alone, across Nigeria's most important cities, we can have cities like that- but Nigeria hasn't had a working president since independence. Nepotism clouds everything in this country. Imagine infusing 40 billion per year into Onitsha,Aba, owerri and Enugu just for infrastructure alone- for 4 consecutive years ? Replicate it allover the zones in Nigeria and you get to see miracles happen. For a country with over 3 trillion Naira burgers,we can do this if the will is there 5 Likes |

Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Ofodirinwa: 7:13pm On May 25, 2021 |
NwaforIgbo: One thing that would be nice to see is use discussing things with more healthy temperments. We're so concerned with showing how we feel that it clouds how we think. Someone can say 'I want Owerri to be better' without decided, on their own and outside of Owerri, that Owerri is hell and somewhere else is heaven. If Owerri is good, Orlu becomes hell If Lagos is good, Owerri becomes hell If there is a good outside of Nigeria, Nigeria becomes hell. We keep doing this and in the end nobody says anything useful. This thread is a good opportunity for us to even figure out how we can make our own impacts and fortunes in Imo. But the conversation is so unrealistic and dramatic that it's hard to find tangible info. Abagworo posted a video of a city and is asking why we 'don't have that' in the SE. 1. What about it do you like? 2. Discuss that. IF you like the buildings, say '_______ would look great with these types of buildings'. Very normal balanced way to express your view. Then we can talk about architecture, and what it would take to do that. If it's the cleanliness fine. but all of the emotions and hyperbole get old. 4 Likes |

NwaforIgbo: No Nigerian city can experience the ‘challenges’ Lagos is experiencing and collapse! Nigerians are quite the experts in living in dysfunctional, chaotic societies...so bring it on! Highest, they will soldier on in the chaos and filth and tell you, ‘there’s nothing the eye will see and cry blood’! Now, if you had been referring to cities in 1st world countries like London, New York or Tokyo collapsing due to a lack of infrastructure and order like Lagos is experiencing, i’d have agreed with you! |

Ofodirinwa: 1st step is tree planting everywhere there is space and provisions for pedestrian walkways in all the city roads. When Sullivan was Governor of Enugu State he started creating sidewalks across many parts of the city but I think his successor couldn't continue in that line. 5 Likes |

Abagworo:planting trees and creating concrete slabs at least a metre in length from the covered drains (this will take care of sand getting on our roads) will go a long way, but it won't be like the pictures you showed. 1) There is the question of effective waste management that bedevils most Nigerian cities.Landfills no longer cut it,we need to begin setting up recycling plants. 2) like I said earlier, since it's obvious that the North won't allow a restructuring anytime soon, our politicians should Looby for an infrastructural fund like what Biden is proposing in America. The money Nigeria spent in developing a brand new Abuja would have brought kano, onitsha,ph etc to the level of lagos at least. Imagine the 1 trillion Buhari spent to fight insurgency was spent on infrastructure ? That's the secret lagos hold over other states. The spend heavily on infrastructure. 3) For our cities to reach European standard, we need visionary leaders and of course, stronger land use laws and enforcement. 1 Like |
as the world is moving away from CBDs. [/quot] So we don't need CBD? |
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Ofodirinwa: 10:35pm On May 25, 2021 |

No. If you have office quality infrus in the city you don't need to concentrate it in one place. It's bad for traffic, city management, the environment, and the economic well being of the rest of the city. Also, in the digital age people are finding it less necessary to have a physical office, especially a CBD as CBDs will always be far from the average employee and expensive everyone else. |
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Ofodirinwa: 10:38pm On May 25, 2021 |
Abagworo: I 100% agree. Trees are crucial. Since we ordinarily ignore planting them and have a love for cement as Africans, I think it should be made mandatory by government that everyone needs their building front tree lined. The erosion, heat, smog and dust problems we face are the result of our ignorance of how much trees are necessary for our environment. 1 Like |
