It appears the leaders in this country don't understand the jobs they have been given. The jobs is to make the country work for the citizens, to make it comfortable for the citizens.

Nigeria is not the landmass we sit on, it's the people....so when you say 300% hike in fuel price, who are you doing it for.....what are you trying to achieve...

Both the people advising this government and the government that takes the advice are both mad but if they go ahead to implement this evil 300% hike they will be overwhelm by the madness of over 200million already angry Nigeria.

At the end of the day oil subsidy has to go

The falling oil price means there is no cash to.subsidse crude.

And NNPC is tired of running at a loss to subsidise fuel

Either oil subsidy goes or we keep begging imf for more loans
What prevented past administrations and the present administration from fixing our under-functioning oil refineries and building new ones to complement the old ones. Why shouldn't they deregulate it in its entirety since and allow market forces to determine oil price.

Agbegbaorogboye:
Falling oil price?
Are you still in 2020?
Oil price has already exceeded our budget benchmark!!
Right now we should be asking Buhari why our ECA is still stuck at $72m
This underscores just how much the fuel subsidy relationship has been abusive. Nigeria goes back to fuel subsidies because it doesn’t have better ways to help people; but it doesn’t have better ways to help people because it’s been wasting money on fuel subsidies. The Nigerian Institute for Social and Economic Research estimates that the budget for fuel subsidies in 2019 was sufficient to have enrolled the entire population of Nigeria in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS)—a shocking fact in a year where tens of millions of Nigerians are scared in a health crisis with grossly inadequate support and poor health infrastructure. Since 2006, fuel subsidies have taken up over N10 trillion of resources.

Well, deregulation or as I call it, subsidy removal, will lead to high prices of fuel which would lead to high profits, which would lead to more investment which would lead to more money to fix old refinereis and build new ones.

Also, subsidsing fuel prevents the kind of profits being made that would have enabled refienreis to be fixed...since the price control aspect of subsidy means prices are kept too low to allow refienreis to be run profitably(for example...NNPC forces its refienreis to refine fuel below the actual cost so as to afford subsidy)

A busienss that cannot run at a profit would break down

Re: 300% Fuel Hike, NLC Vows To Cripple Economy Nationwide by BabaIbo: 3:38pm On May 28, 2021
The comment above said it all about unions in Nigeria.

Anyway, if they increase it, na customers/consumers go hear am pass because goods and services go cost, companies/producers go increase their prices, distributors/wholesalers go increase their own, retailers won't be left out of the price increment but consumers will be at the receiving end of it.

I know everyone is a consumer one way or the other, but consumers pass consumers.

Those in the process(producers, sellers etc) won't feel it much because they also increased their prices to meet up with the harsh condition due to the petroleum price increase but those working e.g civil servants, private workers etc., will feel it well because their salaries still remain the same.

It's not fessible for now, and you know nigerians will not agree even thou subsidy as to go these is not the right time to do it. The economy is not strong to handle such bomb unless u want nigeria to crumble cos any protest now that is all for nigeria.

You dont have a car and u have no descent job that needs transportation if not you for not say this, by the time u buy fuel 480 to and fro frm work you'll confirm.

So we have to pay for all there incompetence?
Why not increase minimum wages?
What happend to all the looted fund, why not use it to subsidize the products till the economy recovers.

If only Nigerians can come out and protest with one mind and purpose of unity...all this our leaders will not be acting as if......

Mind you, when the NLC protest will start over fuel hike that will affect everyone, one region will come out n say e no concern them, that they want to distabized Buhari government!

When will it be the right time.

In 2012, they told us it was not the right time.

iN 2006 they told us it was not the right time

In 1993, they told us it was not the right time

So, when will it be the right time? When Nigeria has emptied its treasury compeltely to feed the subsidy monster? When we run our entire budget on nothing but loans. ? When all the refienreis are down and scrap...Dangote included?

Time we took hard decisions. This has nothing to do with poltics...I don't support any party, or this government...and everything to do with the National Interest.
