De Bruyne Suffers Fractured Nose & Eye Socket After Clashing Heads With Rudiger by ogbiwa: 10:38am On May 31, 2021

Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne suffered a fractured nose and eye socket in the Champions League final defeat against Chelsea.

The 29-year-old was replaced in the 60th minute by Gabriel Jesus after a collision with Antonio Rudiger.

"I feel OK now. Still disappointed about yesterday obviously but we will be back," he tweeted.

De Bruyne was named in the Belgium squad for Euro 2020, with his country's first game on June 12 against Russia.

There are no indications yet whether the midfielder will be fit for the match in St Petersburg or if his injuries threaten his participation in the rest of the tournament.

City lost the final in Porto against Chelsea thanks to Kai Havertz's 42nd-minute goal.

Rudiger took to Twitter on Sunday afternoon to reveal he had been in touch with De Bruyne to wish him well.

The German posted: "I'm really sorry for @DeBruyneKev's injury.

"Of course this was not intentional from me - I've already been in touch with Kevin personally and I really wish him a speedy recovery and hope we can see him back on the pitch very soon again."

Although I hate Rudiger for his clumsy and indecent defensive plays...but deep down in me, I think he's really what a defender should be...hard, mafianic, rocky, and so on

This was the only guy that regarded Chelsea before the match on Saturday. He was confident but never wrote Chelsea off, unlike Pep the great and some of the city players whose belief in their attacking force thought they were going to massacre Chelsea, forgetting that if there's a team you shouldn't brag against until after the outcome is Chelsea.

Better luck next time. Pep still remain the best coach to me for now.

But has anyone considered the unusual privileged status of Pep Guardiola? Manchester United lost via penalties and everyone has been blaming Solksjaer for infantile tactics, despite the fact that his team played better. And it isn't like the team was betterof before him.

But Man-City loses in open play and everyone is trying to make excuses for the manager. Overthinking kor, underthinking ni. This guy lost because his tactics were probably wrong just like every other manager whose team loses is accused.

And let's not forget that he's lost to same team 3 consecutive times now.

really felt sorry for him when I saw him crying because he was already having a bad night being closed down by chelsea defenders n pep starting him as a false9 didnt help kelvin but what do I kno?
I dnt see dt clash with rudiger as a clear intention to send him out of the game n it was just a tactical foul dt worth d card..
