This issue has been building up for some days now. I've been it since. Naomi said she didn't want to attend press conferences that she's ready to pay fines. Grand Slam committee said that if she didn't attend she would be kicked out.

She has already recieved a lot of backlash for her decision. This is the climax of all the tension that has been building up.

It's mandatory because the press play a major role in the success of the tournament.
Sidelining the press is considered disrespectful.

If she was not fined, others would follow suit.

While I respect her decision,i just hope she wont be banned from future tournaments. Hopefully she has a fail-safe proof to back up her mental health excuse.

she wants to have her cake and it,she does not want to talk to the press when she lose,but she's glad to be infront on then when she wins, everyone on the court suffers from this same excuses she's making, that's why there's a psychologist in her team,good riddance to bad rubbish,when it's time for other grandslams,she should not participate also,she has four already, let her take it to Japan. It is the rule of the game because in nearly all tennis tournaments players talk to the press.
So she should abide by the rules... She could have written a letter to the organisers through her Doctor stating her medical conditions and the reason why they should allow her to opt out.. Not by all these gra gra.
